I had Bypass on Monday. Left the hospital yesterday (Thursday evening). Had a lot of trouble swallowing and holding broth and jello down, along with stomach bloating and cramping. Finally was able to hold down a 1/4 cup of broth and a sugar free outshine popsicle at 3am. Will try protein drinks next. -
I had my gastric bypass on November 15. Four days later and I'm finally able to stay awake a full day, although I'm cuddled up with my heating pad. I tried my first real walk yesterday and when I got home I had alot of stomach pain and some swelling. Is this normal? Should I be binding my stomach? I’m a December bypass patient! December 17th pre-op evaluation December 29th surgery date and January 3rd is my 1 week review I’m excited and getting ready for my new lifestyle. Came here to get some supplements and connect with folks who understand the excitement I am feeling. Also the anxiousness and feelings of not being ready quite yet for what I need to get before going into the hospital.

I'm scheduled November 30th Melbourne Florida Dr.Tieu. In the lovely pre- op liquid diet I'll get something real in my tummy January 5th it just totally freaks me out. But then I look back and realize it took me a hell of a lot longer than a lil over 2 months to get the weight I am now. Nervous but Ready to go. -

This is my first time coming across this site! Date set for November 22nd (5 days!!) and starting to get nervous! And my willpower has not been great as far as my 7-day protien shake/liquid only diet. Today was my first really good day as far as that goes. Half of November is done with their surgeries🤗 Hope you're all doing great!! *also the orange cream Bariatric Advantage vitamins are the highlight of my day, lol!!

Evening grazing is my downfall too! I stay on track all day at work but after dinner I have to restrain myself from multiple snacks. You’ve done great and you look great too! Keep up the great representation of our November 2020 sleeve crew! -

My first post here after lurking for MANY months! I just had my appointment with my doctor after completing all my testing. It took me 2 1/2 months to get the appointment which was very frustrating. I'm glad I called to schedule it when I did! I had no idea how backed up she was due to Covid. She will be getting information from the hospital within the next two weeks for January OR availability and will be able to give me a surgery date soon. It feels like this process has taken forever! When I was done with all my pre-op labs/testing in the beginning of September and couldn't get an appointment till mid November, I started to lose focus. I couldn't even start to prepare myself dietwise and ate whatever I wanted. Now that I can see the end (or beginning depending on how you look at it), I am excited and can start my preparations. What did you do or not do to help prepare yourself prior to surgery? -
I have two initial consultations coming up. November 30th I am traveling to Richmond Virginia to VCU and on December 2nd I am consulting with a bariatric surgeon in Salem Virginia.
Let's hope my insurance is good for this decision.
I wanted an extended tummy tuck but I cannot justify the out of pocket expense yet. Pray for me.

Complications are fairly rare. And honestly—this is from someone who resisted the surgery because "I can just do it on my own"—I wish I had kicked my own butt 15 years ago. It's not that it's effortless—I have to put in work to lose weight—but it's that when I put in the work, I actually lose the weight, instead of that incredibly frustrating "why isn't this working" garbage. Basically what you're getting is a tool that doesn't allow you to deviate much from the plan. But you still have to reduce eating and get in exercise. The difference is you can't fall off the wagon. Your new anatomy won't allow it, and by the time you get to the point where you could overeat, you'll be so used to tracking what you eat and being careful that it'll be second nature. I mean, I'm only two months out (from sleeve, not bypass) and I already always automagically reach for my phone when I set food down in front of myself.

I'm on the full liquid pre- op started officially this morning. Surgery on the 30th November. I was doing so good good today creamed soup n all(no chunks). Took a nap woke up and grabbed peanut butter on a piece of bread I threw half of it in toilet because I feel like I've failed. Can I get through the next two weeks like this? Anyone else have mess ups and turned them around? Cyndi Sent from my SM-A125U using BariatricPal mobile app

Revision from sleeve to bypass
joeyangel99 replied to lions92's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hello! For those that have gotten the revision because of the GERD, did you feel relief immediately or did it take some time? My revision from sleeve to bypass was on 10/27, however I still feel GERD. I’ve heard some ppl say they felt immediate relief and others that it takes time. Can you all tell me what was your experience please. I am praying it goes away. The main reason I got the revision was for relief. -
Well here I am, 27 days away from bypass and I’m in a panic! I’m starting to think “I can do this by myself”. My family believes in me and has encouraged me saying, “you’re doing so good, you can do this without surgery”. Part of me believes that because honestly I’ve never maintained healthy eating AND exercise for 6 months in my life and here I am!!!I guess I’m just scared of all the risks and what if here I am healthy, I become one of those sickly, complication patients? Is this normal? To get cold feet? I don’t know if I should postpone or just go for it…any encouragement or advice is appreciated!

GERD after Revision! Please help!
joeyangel99 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I had my revision from sleeve to bypass on 10/27/21, only 3 weeks ago. I also had hiatal hernia repair, and gallbladder removal all at once. I am feeling good, no vomiting. Still on liquid stage, proceeding to soft solids soon. However, I am feeling GERD again! and worried the revision will not successfully resolve this frustrating issue. The nurse said to give it time. Did anyone have GERD weeks after their revision surgery? If so, did it resolve with time? Please I need some feedback! Thanks! -

November Surgery Buddies!!!

Hello. I am one day post ByPass. 24 hours ago at this time I was taking deep breaths from a mask and waking up 4 hours later in PACU. I went to my room an hour after getting to PACU and started walking within the hour. I had little 1oz glasses of water on a table next to my bed and started sipping. I didn’t drink enough last night but I did OK. Around 7PM all the fluid I had gotten IV decided to start coming out. For the next ten hours I was up to the bathroom every 30 minutes. No real sleep last night. I got a temp of 100.5 around 10PM. I got IV Tylenol. It seemed to go away this morning but it is a little concerning. I decided to avoid pain meds so I am sore but it is tolerable. I feel incredibly bloated and look forward to getting the gas out. No other real symptoms at this point. The residents said I will probably go home today but the surgeon hasn’t come yet. I feel like it is going well.
