Hi all, Had VSG a year ago and lost 55 lbs. I had the lapband and of course converted to the sleeve. I experienced loose skin with the VSG as opposed to the lapband, even though I lost more weight with the lapband. I do not want any surgery to remove the loose skin although it’s not that noticeable to someone else, but more of a concern to me since I have to look at it everyday naked. My face is small naturally, but it now looks sunken. I started exercising four months after the surgery; however the loose skin is still very present. Any suggestions? Intimacy is on the back burner because of this. Help!!!!

Sleep Apnea Testing?
momof3_angels replied to danielleleigh90's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was done in a sleep lab. I wish it had been a home test! I really didn't fall asleep until just before I had to wake up. Fortunately in that 1 hour I did have severe sleep apnea.... but it was too late to put me on cpap for the titration so I had to go back and do it again. We are fairly certain that severe sleep apnea was probably the trigger for my rapid weight gain. I started years with of insomnia around the time I started gaining weight. Had no clue it was so bad. I still dont sleep all night every night... but it is so much better and now that I am loosing weight I feel so much better! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Okay so I’ve FINALLY got some time off and I just HAD TO respond to this: 1. I’ve accidentally lost another 6 pounds (finally weighed yesterday for the first time since 12-14 and I’m down to 140.6-eek) 2. These last 10-15 pounds gone off of my body have REALLY exaggerated the loose skin and are making it much more difficult to find clothes with a good fit. I can now totally relate to the big legs, tight-across-the-hip fit. Making my argument for plastics all the more real

Input needed: Sleeve to Bypass? Revision Surgery
Jolynn posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi! I am 10 years post sleeve surgery. I had my sleeve back in 2010, when the procedure what relatively new. I had the procedure done as an outpatient. I was cash pay and had no follow-up. Everything seemed to go well. I started at over 350lbs, and made it to 219lbs. I was ecstatic! I was no longer a diabetic, I no longer had high blood pressure. I no longer had an appetite. Being a cash pay, I was unable to afford a plastic surgeon, so I carried and still carry a bit of skin. So, here I am, 10 years after. My weight today is 251lbs. I still believe I have been successful. I can still shop at Macy's and not have to order everything online. I gained weight, yes, but I have also gained confidence. After so long, my struggle with food is slowly returning. I am so afraid, that I started the process of looking into revision surgery. The surgeon that I have, at the hospital that I work at, will not revise a sleeve, but will revise a sleeve with bypass surgery. She states that there is a 100% complication rate, from things as small as a UTI to death. I would love to know more about this. Insurance has approved the revision. I have already had the medical testing, upper GI, and will be meeting with the psychiatrist and dietician next week. I would love to chat and hear stories from anyone who is considering revision surgery. I want to hear all of the good, bad and ugly. Please feel free to reach out at any time. I am new to this forum and would love gain support, information and be of support to others going through the same battles. Thanks! Jolynn Let me know if you would like to chat further, I can be reached by email also. If anyone is in the Seattle area, let's start a group! -
Oh, Just Another Plastics Story
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Day 5 update: Second lymphatic massage yesterday and it also helped. I wake up really swollen so i got a heating pad to help. Followed up with my amazing surgeon yesterday and we discussed follow ups, complication signs, how to care for my new belly button and incisions. I also purchased my Colombian Faja (compression garments) yesterday and discuss low salt diet to reduce swelling/bloating with the shop owner. No weight taken, and removed skin was not weighed either but OR pictures were given to me 😳 I slept in a bed last night and getting in and out alone was a bit of a struggle, but not on pain meds today... Maybe before bed ON MY WAY HOME ❤ -
Surgery Day! and beyond: Part 2
ms.sss replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Tummy pics? (please?, lol) Do you find that the skin in the area that connects your torso to your thighs to be tight? I can feel my skin tighten alot there when I push my pelvis forward. Wondering if its just me... BTW, your recent arm pics are awesome. You got some guns, love em! I've always longingly looked at the women with nice toned shoulders and arms. Even when I was thin I never had toned arms. Things are different now 😎 -
I am getting ready to set up my appointment for late Feb. for a modified TT (skin only) and brachio. I am so anxious. I need to just call, pay the deposit and commit to it. i will have an appointment 2 weeks before to discuss details but i wanted to ask if any of you had to stop your high dose vitamin for a day or longer before surgery.

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD
darcyjae replied to Serengirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do also feel like a slow loser (66 lbs in 5.5 months) compared to many, but that average (~11 lbs a month) is pretty normal, according to my nutritionist. I’m comfortable with it because I feel like that pace of losing is easier on my body and skin, and being under 200# I expect it to slow even more, but still eventually get me there. -
Surgery Day! and beyond: Part 2

I did 100 crunches (50 basic, 50 bicycle) yesterday at the gym before yoga. Took me longer than would be typical, and I did less, of course... but no problems today. No soreness. When I got out of surgery, my stomach was as hard and flat as a rock - no swelling or pockets of fluid. The skin is a little more lax now, but it's still flat. -
The biggest emotional rollercoaster with this surgery
Stella S replied to Soon2bSleeved12/2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you’re almost a month out so exciting. Sorry that your medical doctor referred you for a procedure that they later stated they did not think you were appropriate for this is huge amounts of neglect and what a mind cluster. I would never be able to trust that provider again for anything ever ever. Sometimes I’m going over my medical history with a new provider I become self-conscious - in June I had a substitute PCP to clear me for skin removal surgery. Imagine my surprise when she said you go girl!!! Do whatever it takes to live large I was stunned and I’ve held that comment close to my heart for more than just a fleeting moment. Support feels good. I hope you have a lot of it in your journey. -
You look amazingggg and you're so pretty! Its all about timing. The right guy will come along. You cant even see your excess skin. And 240 lb weight loss?!? WOW. How long did it take you? Congrats!

Thanks for the the tips, everyone. I'm just going to take the following in a backpack: a light robe I can roll up (haven't purchased one yet), chapstick, phone and charger, mini Ipad, toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, clean pair of underwear. I plan to wear the same loose, comfy maxi-dress there and back, and I'll wear a pair of rubber Birkenstocks which is what I wear at home for slippers anyway.
-
I can't see your excess skin - your clothes hide it well - so I doubt that's the reason. No one would know it's there when you have your clothes on, and presumably when guys first see you you're dressed! It sometimes takes awhile to find partners once you're out of school...keep looking!

I do not think a true guy would judge based on skin or other reasons, Get out more get involved more, As a single guy i meet partners all the time on airplanes, church, Fishing, or just hanging out with friends. Nothing wrong with you making the first move.

I'm awesome lol I don't really think I have any MAJOR character flaws...im thinking maybe it is my excess skin? It is awful Sent from my SM-G930W8 using BariatricPal mobile app

I took this picture this past summer and during the time I felt so good about me that I stepped out the box with my fashion choices. At that point, I've never owned a pair of white slacks and white casual shoes. I'm loving the skin I'm in! @GreenTealael,here's a pic of me and the Mrs., she knows a thing or two about fashion. 😊

Sleep Apnea Testing?
AJ Tylo replied to danielleleigh90's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No lab test it monitors how many time you stop breathing, You will need a machine and i have one dont use it much but you want to talk getting a good nights sleep, they knock you out and get you air all night - Very healthy move. Once you loose all your weight sometimes it cures up -
I wore a new dress today. And, umm, should have ordered a medium. AND my favorite cardigan is now pretty loose on me. I am going to see if I can hunt out the exact same sweater on Poshmark But in a medium or (gasp) a smallThe dress still works okay a bit big. I am not used to having legs show. Skirts of that length have never been part of my wardrobe. When I looked in the mirror this morning, I thought the length was perfectly work appropriate and that leggings weren’t necessary. Ummm, yeah, it WAS fine until I sat down and crossed my legs without thinking 😂 I’m not used to being able to cross my legs either. Thankfully I didn’t have a ton of meetings today. I did get lots of compliments on it, so maybe I just need to learn how to sit without flashing the world.

6 days since surgery and my abs finally aren't hurting.

No Piglet can't and won't behave on or off a leash, he is my scurge around here. Was a wonderful puppy and had him snipped at 3 months old. Around 8 months he thought he was top dog of the world. He still hates everyone else but my wife. It's a constant conflict battle around here. He thinks my wife is his, he got the hell whipped out of him once when he bit me and broke skin while handing her her glasses. He's never bit me again. We just live to hate each other. Now my 2 cats and German Shepard get along great. If they get to close the little S**T will take a bite out of them. My German Shepard won't put up with his crap and dragged his butt out the doggie doors and laid on the porch for a few hours not letting him in. Funny as hell. -

Just had my 7 week followup. One more week of compression garments and then he said I can burn them. LOL. I have my final followup in June. During which time I am consulting for breast implants, a butt lift, and inner thigh skin excision for October. HOLLLLAAA. Also cleared for ab exercises! Let the buffness commence. -
Wow. way to go McCaw! You are killing it! Btw, I stepped on the scale for the first time since before the Christmas Holidays and am now unbelievably in to One Hundreds! Officially 197.8 from 426 in late 2018. What a journey. I felt like I didn't stay on point great through the holidays, which include my birthday and several others in my family as well as several Christmas parties but I still lost some. I never thought I would see the 100's again or that it would be possible with the loose skin I have as well. Crazy. Keep going everyone and remember why we did it!

The turkey neck will disappear in a few weeks. Sleeved 11/20 and I had the same issue. I was so worried! Stay hydrated and the skin will eventually tighten up. 😁

Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern
JohnnyMadison replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Oh yeah, I had just progressed into Barrett's but they think it's early stage and reversible. So insurance approval was rapid. I was rejected for LINX because they don't approve it for that if you have Barrett's, they want something more permanent and less experimental. Revision to GBP is such a different experience. I get full on 2 TB of dense protein but something like soup or pureed ground turkey with taco seasoning I can already have like 6 ounces. It really just depends on what's going to camp out in the pouch and what's going to slide through, so it's a bit easier to "trick" than a sleeve that would get full with liquids or anything else. They really aren't prepared to deal with people under 30 BMI getting GBP so I went to all the classes (and got asked who I was there supporting). After VSG and abdominoplasty (excess skin), the scar tissue made my incision pain much higher (I also had a hernia repair and I'm guessing you will need that too). And since they don't alter or VSG except for making the pouch, you will be hungry. It gets better each day but revision is for sure harder, especially when, in my case, I was fine with my existing weight but was miserable with GERD (which I never had pre-sleeve) and it's like I just want the GERD fixed I don't want to go through a whole transformational process again. -
A friend had it done on her face to reduce the fine lines & loose skin post her weight loss. She said there’s been no difference. It’s supposed to stimulate collagen but takes a couple of weeks for the results to show. She had it done months ago. I’m doing RF on my face. Stimulates collagen growth too & also like needling not long term solution. The deep marionette line on my left side has become softer but the right side hasn’t changed. I’ve completed about 10 treatments (my beautician had a special going 6 treatments for price of 5) but I had hoped for better results. 😩 Considering laser lift but have to explore further.
