    Crystal Light Saved My Life

Thanks I never even thought of that...I can't wait to stock up bc I love the dragon berry!
  2. Jackie you are about to make me cry bc I am having the exact same issue and I has an uppper g.i ten days ago and today and I'm scheduled for the endoscopy tomorrow morning. I was very hopeful that that would fix everything now my hopes are dashed! :'(
  3. I feel exactly the same as you. I am almost 7 weeks post op and I have a stomach stricture and an ulcer. I have had 3 endoscopys and been dialated 3 times as well. They say what's happening to me happens to less than 1% of patients. My surgeon said out of the 2 thousand surgeries he's performed this has only happened to 60 ppl. I too have buyers remorse and I plan on going to the support groups and telling my story bc they never made me aware of ANY of this. I am beyond frustrated and I feel like I'm going to die at times! The pain the nausea the vomiting the weakness. I barely even drink....maybe 6 ounces a day. I've lost 40+ lbs so far but so what! This is so not what I signed up for

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

Ty for your dedication for keeping up with all of this for almost a yr now, and congrats bc u r doing gr8 yourself: )
  5. I've been staying up to the minute with my pain meds. If I get off track, I do feel pain. My small incisions don't bother me, the bigger one is starting to cause some discomfort. Yes my throat hurts as well. I have been able to eat jello, drink water and broth today. I walked the halls at least 5 times. The worst part for me is this drip they have me on. It makes me have to urinate ALL day. Super annoying, they just decreased it for me. I hope they send me home with some good meds bc I hate pain. Right now I'm on a liquid med called hycet.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

HW 197 SW 186 CW 124 TPL 73 TGP 82 I'm still 124 this week, I gotta do something different bc i have two months to get to final goal of 115. I'm not worried at least not for now
  7. I opted for bypass bc I knew sweets were my biggest problem, I was really hoping for bad dumping even if I touched a sweet. I wasn’t lucky to get that but still at this point it’s better than craving sweets. I literally might only mentally crave a sweet maybe once a week. I take one maybe two bites and I’m finished. I needing help detoxing from sugar. It’s extremely addictive. But I’m hoping even if I’m the future I’m able to eat it more that I’m so used to not eating it now that I will find it satisfying after a couple of bites or perhaps a serving rather than a whole box!!! Haha. Don’t let yourself get back into the habit though. I’m sure you could push through and then get hooked back on it. No regrets at all only wish I would have done it sooner! Good luck. Surgery 2/27 I was 363 Today 297.6!!!!!!! Hw-378 Sw- 363 (2/27/18) CW-299
  8. Thanks Kelliv, I'm sure to be back to normal (whatever normal mean!) in no time. Initially I wanted to have it done before christmas, but now I'm thinking of just after Christmas. I'm not ashamed of getting the sleeve, but I don't want anyone to know. Becausei don't want to deal with the BS of everybody telling me what they think when I didn't ask. As it is, I'm already getting the old 'self mutilation' lectures for not only having had the band in, but now having it out. I can only imagine the sleeve will be much the same reaction. If i can avoid major functions that revolve around food i could do it in Nov. But My brother in law is getting married in November so that's out, because I'd be on liquids....a dead give away. If I do it between his wedding and Christmas then Will be on liquids or puree for Christmas, so again dead give away. There is nothing between Christmas and Easter involving food that I can't easily avoid, so I think after Christmas is the go. Hopefully my surgeon will be able to do it then! Would like to be sleeved by the new year, start it off right foot! Cheers!

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

its been ages since i've been on. i was quite fed up really. I went through a clinic called cosmedico to have the surgery. basically its like an agent that puts you in touch with CDB instead of going directly which i should have done. Had surgery in early Jan had a fill in feb and then cosmedico couldn't organise a fill for me. i was in for one then they cancelled it and then they scheduled one for a few weeks later telling me that the all the earlier time slots were taken. anyway got the fill about 2 weeks ago went from 3 mls to 5 and wow what a difference! it has i could only drink liquids for 2 weeks now it has loosened a bit and fred said one more fill should do it for me. strange thing is when i went to get the fill in cosmedico they told me they are no longer running the clinic that its now going to be run in the city centre where i think their main clinic is, and i can't even make appts via cosmedico just direct with fred, so i am suspicious the Dr chris is severing his ties with the clinic which wouldn't suprise me. anyway had my fill which is working now and even happier not to have to deal with my useless agent. Anyone who is thinking of having the surgery..its much easier to go direct to Dr Chris..skip the agent/clinic cos you only end up paying more. €3000 more to be exact you learn through these mistakes i guess! glad to see everyone has been doing well x

What a great idea! So glad you are being proactive. Thanks for not being offended by my post. I would want someone to say this sort of thing to me especially if I was feeling really fed up. Good shock therapy without the physical effects. Ohh a lovely holiday something nice to look forward too! I am sure that will be the motivator to lose a little more. Where are you going? Good luck do hope you get an appointment for a fill, let us know how you get on. Take care Claire x

Many thanks flirty for recommending this thread. I am new on here and must confess I am having trouble finding my way around lol I have just had my first consultation with Healthier Weight in Manchester and have decided this is the route I am going to take fed up with losing weight putting it back on and more this has been my life's circle for over 20 yrs now. I don't feel like I'm in control anymore and my family (who I must say are extremley supportive) have suffered the consequences of living with me, so now its my time to take responsibility and hopefully control not just for my sake but my whole families. I had been set on having my op done in Manchester as the consultant was fab and certainly knew his stuff but after reading some of the post's on here I may look into Dr Chris is would be great not to have to spend the full £7k on one op the rest can go in my "kitty" for later who knows what this journey will lead to x

Hi Gang What the hell have they done to the site - its taken me ages to find it and get logged back in Anyway decided to have another fill as still got very little restriction - sadly no clinic in Edinburgh during December which is a right pain cos now got to go to Glasgow on 17th December. Hoping that will be me this time and the band will start working for its money Now not lost anything in over a month and getting really fed up - Dr Chris told me to diet and exercise!?!?!!??! If I had been able to do that I wouldn't have needed the band in the first place AARRGGHH Suppose I should be happy with weight loss so far but just expected it to be so much quicker than it has been - never been known for my patience lol Glad everyone is doing well and newbies - good luck on your journey and ignore my moaning Kerry xx

mmm and wishfull are right..think tullia is very pushy and i got fed up of her bolshy phone calls, every day for 2 weeks even tho id only made a simple enquiry online about the price!. i just let the aswer phone be bombarded with messages, and she got quite angry!..you shouldnt be paying that up front, i didnt pay a penny til the day..i went with bridget at "europesurgery"which youll find a website for, you will get an answer and a date by the end of today if you go wiyh her, but think its bit cheaper to go with ecfs for the direct package with chris and fred, and your taxis, and hotel are included too. we booked them seperate online which was simple, but at least they do it for you.. also i know their communication is slow but they will get back to you...i got fed up of waiting thats why i went through bridget..Tullia just sounded too desperate for my custom and money and it put me off, i know others have been put off by her too. anyway whoever you choose youll get same op by chris at the end of the day and will be in great hands...good luck x

Bless you BS, you are really helping me to stay positive, thank you xxx. Thank you for the link btw, I'll check that out. Thanx to everyone that wished me nice things after my hols. And my thoughts will be with Mmm for her op. You lot seem to be doing so well with your weight loss, I was thinking of having Protein drinks for after, my youngest daughters boyfriend is very much into weight training and he takes them. In fact I've ordered some for the weeks building up to my op, they deliver in 24 hours, which is damn good. She has bought some for herself even though she's tiny she has to watch her weight, and she says they really fill her up for quite a few hours. These drinks are called Diet Shake and cost £35.99 for 40 drinks. I dont know if they are the same as other folks have taken but they only have 200 cals in a serving. I was warned by the dietician in the Spire not to take Slimfast as its full of sugar and doesnt keep you satisfied. I never did, but I know some girls on here have, but if they suit you thats great, and I wish you good luck, after all different strokes as they say. xxx

Hi Girls Havent been posting for a while as im so fed up im at that stage where i am begining to think ive wasted all that money on surgery. And as a result i feel like a total failure.I have had 3 fills now and a total of 6.5mls in my band and i have no restriction what so ever.I can eat bread pasta rice and in fairly big portion size.I have lost 17.5 pounds since surgery in feb and nothing since (im 284 pounds) so i should be losing a lot more weight than that.I know that the first couple of fills dont help much but i really think i should feel some restriction now.I do realise the band is only a tool but its not doing its job and as a result im obviously eating too much.I could start counting cals again or go to ww but it never worked in the past and thats why i opted for surgery.Im going to see chris this thurs and i think i need to get a decent fill and a proper chat to see where im going wrong.Im so sorry to be so negative but i do think people need to know its down sides as well.If there is anyone out there who has been in my position id love to hear from u or any advice would be helpful i cant tell you how depressed this is making me i dont think i have ever felt so low. However a big well done to fatty patty i am so pleased for u and i pray that everything goes smooth and stress free from now on.

Hi fatduck this is what Im talking about when I say I cant eat anything that is mushed up. I am a bit fed up eating only mushy food so thought I would try a small amount of pasta with tiny pieces of chicken in a white sauce and boy was I sorry, I was in pure agony and felt as if I was being strangled around the chest. I am eating slowly and chewing lots but it is still happening. I thought I would be able to at least eat some normal foods although a smaller portion but the most solid thing I can eat is fish or cottage pie. Anyone any ideas Im 22 days post op and wondering if I will ever be able to eat anything in solid form again. Jx

    September Was Your Progress?

Surgery: 9/4 Starting weight: 237 Current weight: 175 -62lbs and 50 inches Feeling amazing although I am pretty sure my weight loss has started to slow at this point. I still have 40-50lbs to reach goal. I do not struggle with wanting food anymore and I am extremely grateful. Seems like my life the past few years revolved around when and what we were going to eat and I just don't think about it anymore. I am one of the lucky ones where that is concerned. Even if I do crave something bad, which is rare, I can usually take one or two bites and it either grosses me out or it just doesn't taste nearly as good as I remember and I'm done. I am struggling to get all of my protein in as I hate all of the shakes and I have tried them all. I have always struggled with drinking things like that and now it's even harder. I gag and I just can't do it and since I can really still only eat very little it has been tough. I am probably still only getting 700-800 calories and that is me working very hard bc I just can't eat more than 3-4 bites of anything most days. I have also lost a significant amount of hair. My hair was very fine so even though I had a lot, now that I've lost so much (probably lost 60-70%) my remaining "fine" hair does not hide the loss well. Obvious thinning can be seen on my scalp. I am just trying to deal the best I can and hoping it stops as grows back ASAP. I look ridiculous in wigs bc they're all so thick and my hair has never been thick. Haven't gone down in sizes as quickly as I thought I would after such a large loss, but I'm also very short so I carry more in the middle and I have accepted that it'll take longer for jean sizes to change. I have gone from a 20 to a 14 or a size 34 waist so I am still happy. Sorry for the novel. Has been a while so thought I'd post what I could think of. Glad to see everyone doing well and love reading about everyone's victories. Some days it's so hard to imagine making it to goal, but look how far we have all come. Amazing!

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

Agreed. Okay, so I will say that I’m more of a “tough love” kind of person and can be blunt sometimes. Part of that is decades as a healthcare practitioner (do NOT try to lie to me and tell me that the dog ate your Xanax and you need it filled early) and part of it is that I carry around a lot of mother/daughter issues with my mom. In short, she’s one of the biggest enablers on the planet and then tells lies/omits truth about it. Trying to confront her about it is like trying to punch a marshmallow, so how I compensate is to be brutally honest to the point of being (seemingly) outright rude at times. I used to feel bad about it, but as I get older, I’m more of a “take me or leave me” kind of person. I need to find a good support group— so far I can only find ones online. Both bariatric centers near me have crap format and hours. Meh. Anyway, just discovered this thread. Yay! I’ll probably lurk here more than post bc I don’t log food as often or as thoroughly as I should but I love seeing the menus
  23. Oh I see. Well with the weight loss hopefully it becomes more of a fun thing as oppose to anxiety inducing. I get that too. I never liked shopping before bc I’d see myself in the mirror and also had to see the sizes I had to put on. Now I have to say it’s more fun. Hope you’re able to find some cute stuff!! I just bought a few things here and there as I lost weight bc I knew I was still losing. I have 22 pounds until I hit my goal weight.
  24. I’m trying to get up the courage to wear this dress to work tomorrow. It’s definitely not my usual style bc usually I hide in basics, but I bought this from Amazon for like $19 and I really like it but feel self-conscious and unsure... Edited to add a pic from 1 week post op for comparison...though the clothing and stance is really not apples to apples! Yea or nay?

    OCTOBER 2014

Wow- I can't believe he doesn't believe in pain management. I got a whole brochure about keeping ahead of the pain. (Not that I even want to take it at this point bc it's constipating) I have been using protein powder by Bariatric advantage and isopure zero unflavored. (Does well in cold, not good in heated food) and lots of water. And miralax. I had a HH repair also and had to really practice deep breathing and slight coughing to open those airways for a few days. Keep posting. You sound like you need a lot of info, and these ladies sure do know what they're talking about. A lot of researchers in our group and very positive support.
