Got to the gym for 50 minutes today, and decided I WILL get to the gym tomorrow morning before my flight. I was starting to feel anxiety about not getting to the gym several days in a row, bc I am ALWAYS afraid of falling back on my old "COUCH POTATO" lifestyle. So, I am committing to getting in that exercise tomorrow morning early, so that I will only miss Friday this week. Still struggling to get in all the Water, although I will try to drink several glasses tonight. Cottage cheese and fruit for lunch, chicken salad and homemade chicken soup for dinner. How did everyone else do today? Meeting your goals?

    Non Scale Victories

5 weeks out and my scrubs are hanging off of me, my coworkers even brought up great places to take them in. Walking past pizza, donuts, etc and not craving them at all. Instead choosing healthy protein instead bc I'm craving it. People saying my face is slimmer. Went down a pant size. Almost able to cross my legs comfortably. This is only in 5 weeks, I can't wait to see what else is in store for me!!!!

Hello, saw your above note. BC/BS that covers the Auto plant here in Kansas City HAS started covering lapband here. Unless your particular policy has an exclusion I would start the fight.

  5. Hi everyone! hoping for your help! I am one day away from being four weeks postop (VSG Dec 16, 2019) and I made myself some hummus today but the consistency was very grainy and I only had a couple of teaspoons but then I got super scared that The grains or the skin of the chickpeas might get stuck in my stitches and cause a leak or something...so I stopped eating....but now I’m freaking out!! Help!! Thoughts? Should I call my nurse tomorrow? Thanks! Neda Vancouver, BC

The Stuff They Don't Tell You

I can't walk alone because the Valium is turning me into a zombie. Aside from dr appts I can't leave the house for at least six weeks. I am now officially a drug addled hermit, locked up in room six (we live in an old hotel). 100 years ago it was a women's hospital. They locked them up in the rooms and fed them opium. My how things have not changed!
  7. I got pregnant 6 months after surgery, i was on BC and also have PCOS, so it was a surprise ( albeit a good one, previous to surgery we had tried for 4 years with no luck)! I am currently 24 weeks along, but i keep losing weight. I was 195 when i got pregnant and i'm now about 178. I keep losing weight, about a lb a month. I've increased my eating and added an extra Protein shake into the mix for extra nutrition, but nothing seems to help. I am already forcing myself to eat more than what i'm comfortable with, but i'm still losing. My nutritionist doesn't think there is a problem, as i'm getting about 2,000 calories a day, but my doctor is starting to talk about putting me on high calorie shakes. Thus far baby is measuring just perfect and he's very active. I am just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and can offer any advice or ideas?

    Fabulous February!

Me too!!!!!! The headache is like freaking withdrawals! I made my son PB&J for dinner (cub scout night we have 30 minutes from when we walk in the door to be fed, changed and gone). He came in and gave me a kiss after he ate, I told him to run before I ate his face....peanut butter smells sooooo good!!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 251, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 251

    I'm going to scream....

Yeah don't listen to people who tell you to stop losing weight. I can see if you were in mid onederland or something but 300 lbs. Yeah it's bizarre that they'd say that. Plain and simple they are full of it and just want to keep you from succeeding either that or they're being phony. I'm relatively new to the weight loss surgery game but I think life has a messed up way of trying to bring you down when you're winning and people can be down right evil. Just ignore them or make them feel stupid if it annoys you that much but you keep going toward your goal and don't let anyone's bs hold you back. Do not listen to them I don't think they have good intentions. I think they're just trying to throw wrenches in your plan.

    Menstrual cycles

I know there's the Mirena that's low hormonal but I don't qualify for that because my daughter was a c section. I never went into labor. So my ob said that the Mirena was a no go. I know there's the one you put in for 3 weeks and take it our for a week. But I don't think I can be putting it in and taking it out. It's just weird to me. I hate side effects of BC. But i don't wanna risk getting pregnant so soon after my surgery. That's what scares me.

Are you are taking a Biotin pill? If so, what brand. In the past I had vitamin toxicity so I cant take too many vitamins. Don't laugh, but I take 2 Flintstone Multivitamin chewables w/extra iron, B12 tablet, and my regular meds...blood pressure, plavix, and cholesterol until I lose my weight. I'm anemic so I need the iron and these vitamins are really working well for me right now. I just dont want an overload bc of the consequences.

    What R U Eating 11 Day Postop?

Max, I'm from the south and would love nothing more than to have a bowl of grits. I'm mad bc my Dr. said no corn. That means no grits.
  14. Hey Truberry. Congrats on your sleeve. I was sleeved 7/17 also! I returned to work a week later. How are you handling everything with your sleeve?I know you are looking for people in the area, but I live in Atlanta and I am coming to NY to visit hopefully in September to treat myself. I would love to join your meetup if possible. Thanks Wablue. Congrats to you! That sounds like a wonderful idea. So far the sleeve is great. The usual ups and downs. My job pays in full plus benes while I'm off so there's no point not taking advantage. I start mushy and moist tomorrow and I've never been so excited. What are some of the things you plan to eat during that phase? I'm very much looking forward to a new me. Officially I'm down 14lbs. Unofficially 18. But I'll have to wait three weeks for my next doc visit for any more info bc my scale refuses to move and I'm pretty sure it's wrong bc the docs readings were different. How are you doing so far?

    New to wls

Hi..... I too am new to this forum as of today. I have my Dr appt on 26th Sept. I have been researching and umming and arrrhhhing for the last 3 years but have made the decision to have the sleeve. I'm thinking about doing the endoscopic sleeve.... does anyone know anyone who has had it done this way?? I'm in the Newcastle NSW area. I had a lap band in 2005 but after 3 years had it removed. As most have done, I've tried every diet I could find and fed up with the yoyo so here goes! Sending my best wishes and thoughts to you all Warm Regards Rainbow Gypsy

    No Where Else To Turn

It's true. I blame his bs the reason why I smoke. He is easier to handle baked and that's when we get a long. I have an idea what our therapist will say tonight and I know all fingers won't be pointed to hubby. Ooffa

    No Where Else To Turn

My husband and I smoke together. Honestly I feel at this point that's the only thing we have in common. Its hidden from the children but it's my way of staying calm. I'm scared to try xanex bc I have such an addictive personality. I am so desperate to stop smoking pot. I quit cigarette 5 months ago. I am really truly trying to turn my life around. But I'm at a hurdle I am Jewish but we are raising our children catholic. I have a modern family life. My kids have the same bday 7 years apart so bday and hoikdays consist of my husband and in laws my fam and my ex w my ex in laws. And we all get along. It's hilarious. Anyway back to the point. I have been through soooo much and turn to g-d but I feel like he keeps taking a **** in living room and walks away and I have to keep cleaning it up ( I hope u get my analogy). I truly feel stuck. I am thankful for everyone u guys are saying bc I feel like I am the only one. And as much as my friends understand they don't I am a passionate person and have a drive for life but it's been gone for years. The sleeve felt like my salvation and now that the weeks are going I am realizing where the change has to happen. I will not end my marriage tonight bc I am head over in heels w my hubby. The damn book 50 shades of grey got us back but it was for the moment. A lot to swallow at once. And I feel a lot of it is self created. Change is tough. Especially when there is a lot of change that has to be done.

    Coffee.. I need help :(

I know every doctor has his /her own protocol about what we WLS patients can/cannot have, but I have never seen/read/heard that coffee is on the "forbidden" list. Very interesting..... I have no words of wisdom or advice, bc I would be like you.... In a haze. I was in a haze and had headaches when I first gave up sugar and flour. Thank God that only lasted for two weeks. Maybe with time things will get better..... I sure hope so!

    Anyone get sleeved in May?

Hi there...I am likely going to be given a May date. I have done everything for the process for my insurance except my final drs appt and nutritionist appt which are both early next week. Then they submit to my insurance and hopefully, fingers crossed, approval and then scheduling. I am in NYC and would love to have a great support system in place throughout this process. I am just doing a calorie restricted diet right now because my insurance prohibits me from gaining even an ounce during a 3 month pre-surgery period and this has even been hard for me bc I need to retrain my brain (ex. stop using food to both reward myself, punish myself, as distraction, when bored, etc). We have quite a journey ahead of us. Great success and good health to all of us.

    Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

Same here with the urinating all day. It's a hassle because they have to disconnect my IV each time. But I'm glad for it though bc the lady next to me hasn't been able to go since she got here today whereas I was begging to go as soon as I got in from recovery yesterday!

  23. I've been staying up to the minute with my pain meds. If I get off track, I do feel pain. My small incisions don't bother me, the bigger one is starting to cause some discomfort. Yes my throat hurts as well. I have been able to eat jello, drink water and broth today. I walked the halls at least 5 times. The worst part for me is this drip they have me on. It makes me have to urinate ALL day. Super annoying, they just decreased it for me. I hope they send me home with some good meds bc I hate pain. Right now I'm on a liquid med called hycet.

  25. Yea well we were friends at one point then we kinda became frenemies because of other instances with a joking attitude like that. She didn't think I should get it so that's where that comment came from. I think I probably did make a rude comment back..bc I couldn't have gotten in trouble..its a laxed atmosphere and noone gets in trouble..plus wat could she have done..that comment could have gotten her in trouble big time..she's lucky I didn't report it . Damn it..I wish I would have. Coulda shoulda woulda
