I eat ricotta bake hot or cold. Google eggface's ricotta bake. Yogurt also works. My program also allowed well combined tuna salad, but that made me pretty sick. I also just bought this warming plate thing on amazon. I'm hoping that it'll keep my plate warm so my food stays warm. If your bowls/plates are small enough, some people suggested using a mug warmer - they're just too small for the salad plates I use.

Canned salmon, white fish of any kind, salmon of any kind, canned/pouch tuna, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, eggs (soft scrambled, soft omelets, soft boiled, soft fried), cheese (some do cheese). If you can do canned tuna, you can do canned chicken. Makes all kinds of good things!! This isn't a forever thing...it's only for a brief window. We can withstand anything for short periods of time.

I had surgery the 20 th, doc said also dont step on scale for the first week because they filled me with IV fluids and still really bloated . But I walked as much as I could religiously and by the time I got on the scale (6 days after surgery ) I was down 4 lbs . I am post op day 9 and down 12lbs . Pretty steady 2 lbs loss a day but I am being letter perfect . 3 protein drinks a day , and a little plain yogurt /cottage cheese mixture . Just added in a protein soup and sugar free popsicle . Walking 10k steps , or around 4.5 miles . Getting 64 oz of water . Will do this till next Thursday purée stage, but will keep calories under 800 and protein 60-100g. Seems to work

Saltines? Caught a stomach bug
Starry*Night posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey guys, Who has gastric sleeve and then manages to catch a stomach virus? This girl! I was sleeved just over a month ago, and caught a stomach bug on Christmas. Think food poisoning - that's what I'm going through right now. The toilet is my new king and I am its loyal subject. I now know why it's the porcelain throne. I know saltines are a bad food to eat - they're a slider and they're empty carbs - BUT they're supposed to be good for settling the tummy. They're what I've aways had to settle my stomach. I could really use that right now. I'm leaning towards not getting them, but is getting them a bad idea? For perspective, I had to go to urgent care and get 1.5 liters of IV fluid today because anything I drink comes right back out the other end - I can't keep any fluids down and got dehydrated. They advised I stay away from dairy - there goes my yogurt and cheese, my easy sources of protein - and I don't really want to eat regular food right now. -

Full liquid diet. Had tomato soup and feel drunk. Anyone experience this?
notmyname replied to Martha88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can make your own "refried" beans that have less sugar fat and don't lead to the sluggish feeling (at least they didn't for me). from bariatriceating(dot)com: blend a can of pinto (I used black) beans with 1/2 c. mild salsa and blend until smooth. Might need to add 1/4 c-1/2c water or broth to get it super smooth/pourable. I also melt a bit of cheese. With respect to the soups and other foods, I was told to look for stuff with 5g or less of sugar per serving (6g was OK for the oikos yogurt I was eating) You can make your own tomato soup fairly easily. I base mine off the following recipe, but use any old tomatoes I want and use dried basil to taste. https://www.bariatriceating.com/2011/11/tomato-basil-soup/ -

I made me an egg salad with Tblsp plain lite yogurt and dab of mustard a dash of salt and pepper. It was so good. I didn't care how squishy it was. Lol! Sent from Zebby's SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Zeb I’m feeling like the puréed egg salad I had today has definitely helped with head hunger for me as well. I’m looking forward to trying a purées chicken salad soon, but so far puréed vegetable soup, and egg salad have been just fine. Same with sugar free pudding, I haven’t tried yogurt yet. -

I am on purees and doing better battling head hunger now than on the full liquid diet. I was going to try a few good baby foods got some. They no longer have the same ones that were out when my daughter was born. I tried a fruit one banana and orange combo. It was not at all what I expected. Lol! Making me some soft boiled eggs to puree. So far eggs are good. Yogurt is good. I have sugar free jello and pudding. I love sugar free fudgecicles and orange sherbet. When does protein and fluid get easier?
notmyname replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does your day look like? I'm about a week ahead of you and, with planning, I'm doing OK on my protein and liquid. i think it helps that I only eat veggie and seafood protein, which are lighter and easier to digest. My days typically look like this: 8 AM Premier shake (11oz liquid, 30 oz protein) 9 AM start on a 24 oz bottle of water. Try to finish before lunch, but often have a couple sips left 12 lunch. Something like egg salad (about 1.5 eggs with greek yogurt, 10g protein) or ricotta bake (about 19g protein). If I eat something lower in protein like the egg salad, I'll have a babybel (5g protein) in the afternoon) 1: continue drinking 2:30 tea 16 oz or so, then some water (like another 8 oz or so) 7 dinner (2-ish oz shrimp or fish, about 12-15g protein with a TBL or so of veg) 8:30 - milk (13g protein for 8 oz) so, that's a minimum of 67 oz of water and 70-74g protein. One day I did it without shakes: Breakfast - one egg, a small veggie sausage, and 5g cheese (17g protein tea 14oz Lunch - 2oz tofu 17g protein water bottle 24 oz snack: parm chips 17g protein dinner: shrimp 14g protein Snack: cocoa (12 oz milk, 1 TBL cocoa, 1 packet stevia) 14 g protein 4 oz water before bed Total: 66 oz liquid, 78g protein -
My surgeon said no carbonation. Some surgeons allow it. My surgeon was not particularly strict (no liver shrink diet, yogurt and cottage cheese allowed after 5 days) but he's old school about carbonation. I was addicted to regular sugared soda and I am terrified that even a sip of diet or seltzer will start crazy cravings. That is the only food or beverage that I really feel I can absolutely never have again, ever.

VSG is 1/8, pre-op diet starts on 1/1
Elizabeth Klisiewicz posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Greetings, I received my surgery date in mid December. It took about four weeks with the Thanksgiving holiday to get approval from my insurance company. My pre-op diet is not a full liquid diet thankfully. There is an emphasis on protein shakes, but I am also allowed to have hard boiled eggs, low fat yogurt, fruit, and frozen meals such as Lean Cuisine, etc. I will have to stop having decaf coffee as of the 31st as I drink it with milk, though I can have decaf tea with stevia. I haven't lost a ton of weight previous to this, but I have done a good job cutting out sugar and caffeine. The holidays were a little touch and go but they are over now. I know it will all be challenging, and I am a bit nervous about surgery (who wouldn't be), but for me with two bone on bone knees, I am out of options and the pros outweigh the cons. So I am ready. My surgery is at Newton-Wellesley Hospital with Dr. Chahal. Impressed with the program and care team so far. -
Soups, mashed potatoes, yogurt, blended fruits yay! I can have my green smoothies again. Along with my shakes. My dr says 6 4oz meals per day but that’s not easy because I also have to get in my vitamins and 64oz of water. I’m usually full after a few sips of anything.

2 week liquid diet. how will I survive!
SimoneMonet replied to Wendums's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So yes, I was tired the first few days on this Clear All Liquid Diet. TIRED and cranky. My surgery is Jan. 2. I still have the transition headache weaning off of the diet cokes...although tonight seems to be tapering off. The biggest thing is the 'clean out' I experienced over the last 5 days that always seems to happen when I'm on protein drinks - I've been drinking the chocolate Premier ones. I definitely don't need an enema...ha! I ate a few diluted creamy soups REALLY hot and strained. My diet allowed one portion of plain soupy grits (or cereal - oatmeal or cream of wheat) in the morning - that helped to keep me full and the Oiko's zero yogurt. I also got a few of the Light Yoplait yogurts as well to switch things up. I got a variety of flavors Gatorade Zeros and Powerade Zeros. And I allowed myself a sugar free pudding or sugar free jello to mix things up as well. I just bought the sugar-free popsicles. This will pretty much be the diet after the surgery minus the grits for a few weeks so i better get used to it now. -
2 week liquid diet. how will I survive!
alleamarie replied to Wendums's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 2 week liquid diet I was only allowed to have a specific brands of shakes that I had to buy through my pharmacy. Other than those I was allowed sf jello and broth. I couldn't have yogurt or anything like that. I made it through without cheating once. Most of the shakes were sweet and I am more of a savory person so my saving grace was a trick I learned in a bariatric fb group. Yellow mustard. They said it helped cut cravings and it really did! I put some on a spoon and basically had a little taste at a time if I was craving normal food. I started using this probably at the beginning of week 2 and it got me through Sent from my LG-H918 using BariatricPal mobile app -

The first few days were awful. I felt tired all the time. But I think day 5 was when it turned itself around. I get those Oikos triple zero greek yogurts in a lot of different flavors for one meal and then I protein shake for the other two. I supplement hunger between meals with either a bullion cube of beef or chicken (in hot water of course) and that really kept me going. Plus my doctor allows sugar free Popsicle so I would have that or a sugar free jello at night before bed. This is a little hard for the post-op liquid diet but it really helped me pre-op -
I had my surgery the 20 th and could barely get anything but broth down on the 22-24th when I get home . Then all of the sudden my hunger came ROARING back last night . It seems this is common once your stomach is healed enough it seems to come back on line and say “feed me” !! But the reality is it is not really healed enough to handle solids , hence our need to to move through liquid to puréed foods . I am going to try the yogurt today and see if that helps and maybe try some cottage cheese early if necessary . But it’s quite odd and disappointing as I expected zero hunger post surgery🤬

Is this hunger normal? I’m VERY worried
Lolo 2020 replied to nursenays's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going on say 5 post op and had my first shake today . Could only do a little in the am and then had more in the PM. All of the sudden tonight my hunger came roaring back! I’m a little freaked out .. how will I do another 9 days on liquids ? I am permitted yogurt , so will try that tomorrow. Any thoughts on soups , etc I can have on liquid phase ? -
I was allowed to have yogurt watered down with a little milk. I also made sure that I varied my protein shakes. I had premier and unjury chocolate, syntrax nectar lemonade and fuzzy navel, and some others. I also had some millie's sipping broths to use as some of my liquid so that I coudl have some savory. sometimes I'd add unflavored protein powder - but I didn't love the taste.

Happy Holidays everyone. Just wanted you all to know I did end up losing 7 pounds after 14 days of hellish torture LOL. My doctor said my liver shrank a little but not a lot. He said it will continue to shrink as I lose weight. I was on 19 medications and he said that can sometimes have an effect on the shrinking... so now we know. Surgery went well and other than feeling like I did 100 situps I wouldn't really know I had surgery. No real after effects. I threw up once in the hospital when I took too many of my 19 meds at once but other than that no other issues. I'm back to drinking normally with no problem. Still no food yet, I have 8 more days to go to get to puree but I get milk and yogurt on Wed and I'm really looking forward to it. I think it will settle okay but will do small amounts at first. Thanks, everyone for being so nice and supportive! Love this group!
