I had gastric sleeve on November 29th and have been the same weight for 3 weeks. Just want to either hear, Yes, that's normal, or if perhaps I need to reevaluate what I'm eating. Thanks!

No bypass, I will be sleeved. Though my doc did recommend the bypass at first. I have a few other health issues I'm dealing with so in the end sleeve was the safer option for me. -

Good morning, I noticed that you are at 207lbs, and you are having gastric bypass? Was this something your doctor recommended, or you just wanted? Just asking... -
Less than 12 hrs now and I will be having my revision to distal bypass. I can't believe it's finally here, but I am so ready!

I’m about 5 weeks out from rny gastric bypass and I’m starting to get back to a more “normal” diet. Are there any meal kits out there that anyone knows of? a couple years ago I was in a ldr and my bf used to order 3-4 meals a week. When I visited, it was enough for two and when I was not there, he always had leftovers since they are designed for 2. Since I’m obviously not eating as much as I did pre op, one kit would probably be 4 or 5 meals and that seems so wasteful because I can’t imagine eating the same thing 4 meals in a row. Are there meal kits out there that make smaller portions?

I liked your analogy about am i being reckless through food that is something i never thought about, good point. I have never talked to my therapist about food but i will now that you have planted the seed , BIG GOAL and reason for this SX is i have a really bad back and by having this SX it will take a lot of weight off my back(lower back), not to drastically change the topic but you are very , anyhow i'm from Massachusetts where are you from i swear the older i gert the more i hate the cold in the snow and not in that order LOL. I seriously do not think i am reckless i am not saying i could not become as such but i think i am pretty honest , i have a great life and i love it and i am real excited about my being in the procces of waiting for the SX my wife as a matter of fact had gastric bypass a long time ago (95) she tries to tell me some info but it was so long ago that she doesn't want to mislead me and i can't you know what i mean. July 2021 Surgery People!
Soonlee_W replied to Sammys_VSG_Evolution's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone, So....it's been 7 months for us. I've lost 20 pounds. I was very depressed for a while because I wholeheartedly expected to lose more and more quickly. As long as I keep losing, it will be ok. Maybe it's good that's its been so slow. IDK So, get this, the new dr put me on Adipex. I told her that I had taken Adipex for my entire adult life (I'm 56). But she prescribed it anyway. She told me to eat every 3 to 4 hours. And she told me that I wasn't getting enough protein. I know that's true. Most days I don't even get half of what I'm supposed to have. I know this, I've had enough protein shakes and eggs to last a lifetime. Why aren't there scientists out there figuring out a way to make a protein patch or a capsule. LOL I did get some JRobb protein powder to add to soups and yogurts. I haven't tried it yet. I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in a long time --and that's nice. I still have 16 pounds to go to reach my goal. The surgeon made it sound like I would lose all I would lose in year one. In other words, he doesn't see patients losing in year two very often. This leaves me 5 months to try to lose the 16. I'd like to know if any of you guys heard the same thing. Can I really expect NOT to lose after a year? Or possibly even gain back? On an unrelated note -- I've been reading about alcohol. I'm trying to cut back on that too, hoping maybe that will help with the weight loss. I've lost some hair. The new dr is super nice and she explained why we lose hair --that's why I've got to figure out a way to get the proteins in. I'm very happy for all of you who have lost really big amounts of weight. That's got to be life-changing. Congratulations. Baby sister had gastric bypass in Tijuana in October and has lost nearly 80 pounds. -
I am 13 days post op - I did self pay and was a gastric bypass revision. 15k here with an excellent surgeon (worked with him at hospital). So happy with how quickly things went this time.

First time with foamies/frothing
LaTiaV replied to shriner37's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I tried Ground beef on week 4 after Gastric Bypass and that is the fist time I got the foam in my mouth. It happens each time I try beef, even a little bite, both surgeon and nutritionist told me to wait until month 4 to try it again and if it still gave me discomfort wait until month 6. I have always liked beef but lucky for me I do not miss it now. Surgeon told me that when I have the foam the best is to have warm liquids and wait. -
I was told I was Diabetic in the June before November Surgery. I said I would hold off taking medication for it until I had blood tests 3 months after my surgery. I am no longer Diabetic. I feel so much more energised.

Sleeve or Bypass? Confused
cheryl o replied to GinSunflowers's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
i had the gastric bypass because of its severity and restrictions. i know two co workers that had the sleeve, regained weight back and have bad GERD. The sleeve seems too easy because of stretching and talking to my co workers. My gastric bypass was done Nov 1, 2021, down 76lbs to date. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app -
all weight loss surgerys are "bariatric surgery" I meant more specific... If you notice 0n my sidebar it says Gastric sleeve. That is the surgery i am getting. Then there is Gastric Bypass, Mini bypass, Lap band and a few other minor ones. your info can be edited in your profile section under surgery.

I too was leaning towards the sleeve but my endoscopy showed that the Bypass would be a far better option. Fingers and toes crossed for you, I would cross my legs but I cant LOL -
Dr. Hart performed my sleeve in 2017. Yes, he’s quiet but if you go in with a list of questions, he will respond. I live in Cleveland, Ohio now. Im having a revision at the Cleveland Clinic to bypass on April 26th. I lost 65 pounds with sleeve. Never regained but stopped losing. Also developed GERD. So bypass is the next step. Good luck with your journey. I miss ATL!!!

Coop, this is a safe space! We're all in the same boat as you or were where you are now. Sure it's easier for some than others, but you can do this. We're here for you! We will help you as much as we can. That's what this community is all about, supporting each other. Sure eating after weight loss surgery is an adjustment, but you adjust. A lot of people say that your taste changes after surgery and you don't even enjoy the foods that you used to. As the weight starts coming off, and your clothes fit better, you realize that you've broke free from the grip that food had on you. I actually miss the restriction that my Lap Band gave me. I'm currently waiting for revision surgery. I had a Lap Band for about 8 years and had it removed last year and now almost ready to get a surgery date for gastric bypass. Best wishes to you Coop! You got this! 💪 -
Brand new here

Someone asked me in this post what surgery will i be getting and honestly i have no idea as i mentioned my PCP put in the consult a few days ago thats about all i know at this point , i have a virtual interview April 1st. My wife as a matter of fact had gastric bypass 17 years ago and she tries to help me with what i could possibly be up against but it has been so long she does not want to mislead me or give me wrong information , anyway i am pretty scared because even though i have had both my hips replaced about 10 years ago i was told this surgery is more invasive i honestly do not know who to believe , i just know that i am uncomfortable in my clothes and if they fit they are extremely tight ( by the way i am 284 lbs and i am 5'7 } i am so obsessed with losing weight that i take all the weight loss pills and they do not work , i go on the cleanse juices, they do not work, i can not work out because i have a bad back, i am at my wits end it is so frustrating being heavy i am so self conscious of my weight i try on my clothes all the time, i apologize for rambling i am so tired of living like this , can anyone relate , thank you for listening , it helps. Sleeve or Bypass? Confused
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to GinSunflowers's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had GERD and a hiatal hernia pre op which is precisely why I choose the bypass over the sleeve (I did not want it to remain the same or get worse). My hiatal hernia was fixed during surgery and although I am only 2 weeks post op, I have had no GERD. -
Anyone here have GERD or LPR (Silent Reflux) after surgery?
catwoman7 replied to yesno789's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
in most cases, gastric bypass improves if not outright cures GERD. Mine went completely away for 2-3 years. I do have issues occasionally now, but it's really minor reflux rather than GERD. Nothing a couple of Tums can't deal with (as well as not eating things that might set it off). And it's just occasionally - not every day like it was before surgery (and certainly much milder). P.S. I had gastric bypass almost seven years ago. Not a revision. I chose bypass over sleeve because I had GERD. -

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ replied to yesno789's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm in the process of revising from Band to Bypass due to GERD. Good Lord, I hope I don't get GERD again after the Bypass. That's supposed to cure it. My sister in law has LPR, but she's not a wls patient. Her father had it and it led to his esophageal cancer. So this sort of thing terrifies me.
