2 NSV's in One day? Could it Be?!

Ugh, Sorry Ive been sooooo busy this week I dont know remember the last time I was here-probably the last post. LOL Thank you all for your encouragement (and praise!)!! Like I said I've been so down since I havent had any motivation-Ive been eating terrible! But with those NSV's--I have LOTS of nice new clothes-I went for more professional, pretty clothes this time instead of my usual "frumpy"plain clothes-I HAVE A SELECTION NOW! Isnt that so awesome when that happens? I was almost 300lbs at my top & in a 28(a little too tight-i really should have worn a 30-but those sizes are near impossible to find),now Im a 22/24...and there is just so much more to choose from-and I can take trying on clothes & looking at myself in a full length mirroe! Sorry,I just had to ramble-its the weekend & Im excited!! Thanks again everyone for the kind words!!It means so much to me:-D
  2. Lately Ive been on a 3 week + no losing streak, and i was really starting to get depressed-i know I havent been eating right-even with my last fill-i was a chocolate spree, but I just havent been motivated to eat healthy. But Wednsday, i went shopping and actually fit into a size 22 pants(i started a 28/30), and the size I usually take was too big. I was SO excited! Then i tried on a few coats since my one from last year is HUUUUUGE. I fit into a 18/20! And not just that one coat-all the coats i tried were the same- a little tight, but the next size up was definatly too big...plus Ive always wanted one of those long sweaters, but i knew I'd look gigantic in it. But i got up the courage to try it on-it looked so good-if i dont say so myself=) So,Ive actually had 3 NSV's ! How exciting! I just had to share my good news with you all-since Ive been pretty depressed lately because I havent lost any weight for a long long time. Woowhooo! Sadly though I ended up spending a LOT of $$$! BTW-I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! I somehow managed to eat a LOT of food lol..which i didnt mind-it was so good!=)

    Strength Training

First of all, I never thought that "I" would ever be able to comment on an exercise thread so that's a NSV for me but anyway...my bariatric center built a special gym for their patients. They even provide a trainer! I love it and I really enjoy strength training. I use a little of everything then I do alternating days of cardio (walking mainly). I've recently been able to increase my weights on most of the machines...cool! I have to work on my endurance though...when I go to the gym I workout with the machines for close to an hour but cardio days are only about half an hour. I guess it's better than nothing, right?
  4. I got out of the shower this morning and decided to try on all my swimsuits from the past 4 years. Every single one of them fit and look somewhat great! Whoo, hoo!
  5. Definitely NSV time ! ! ! I'm with you on getting the goodies out of the house. . . It's been a tough couple of months for me, but luckily, the sleeve is keeping me in check.

    My first NSVs

I love it that you shared those NSVs with everyone. It's always my fear that I will break a lawn chair. Hopefully my hubby and I will share a loveseat soon. Keep after it--you are doing great!

    Sleeve is not cooperating today

Oooh the dehydration could be a factor. Between the head cold, the Nyquil, and an experiment with the blender and a decaf coffee smoothie last night I may have needed some fluids. I had some applesauce, some watermelon, and some yogurt today so I think things settled down later in the morning. The GREAT news is that I finally get it! I made a variation of Eggface's ricotta bake for dinner and put two tablespoons on my plate. I was thinking a tablespoon would be about an ounce. I ate half of what was on my plate and I got that "don't eat another bite" feeling. I used to have a problem with binging so I really had to think about not putting the next bite in my mouth. My brain said "do it" and my stomach said "don't you dare". I cleared my plate and have been fine ever since! I am gonna count this as an NSV. It was the first time that I really felt like I was having a normal meal since the pre-op diet. I can see light at the end of the tunnel and it is SO great! (I have a 2 year old and so I use the same plates and silverware that she does. It helps me feel like I am having a "right size" portion. LOL!) This board ROCKS!
  8. but then I remembered, a regular towel will actually wrap around me now and cover me up:) It's been years since that's happened. I decided to skip the beach towels.
  9. @@kanaud keep those NSV's coming gotta love them keep up the great job kathy

    My 1St Nsv!

THANK YOU ..I didn't know what an NSV was and had been wondering for weeks!! Anyways..that happened to me also. I tried on a size 40 waist pair of jeans today!! I hadn't been a 40 since GRADE SCHOOL...went from a size 46 to a 40 in 4 weeks isn't too shabby!

    My first NSV (sort of)

Congratulations! That is a good NSV! Just remember to throw out the wrapper from the string cheese when you are done!

    NSV (my first!)

I was at the deli this afternoon picking up cold cuts for my kids' lunch. While I stood there I knew I just had to have a yodel ... sneak it on the way home so no one would know ... then I read the calorie count (440 for one serving!!!) and I put it down. I told myself why did you bother with the surgery to do this! Now this may not seem like much to some of you, but believe me this is a big deal for me. I would buy those family size boxes of devil dogs and eat the whole thing. So I'd like to pat myself on the back and share it with you guys who will understand!! Thanks! Mayra

    NSV (my first!)

    Nsv! New Bra Size!!!!!!

So, after the first 15 lbs or so that I lost, I felt my bra getting to big...but i just didnt feel i lost enough inches to drop a size. Last tuesday when I weighed myself i was at 29lbs gone (16 of it since surgery 4/26). I had gone to the store with a friend, and as we passed the "intimate apparel" area, i thought..hmmm, maybe? Then i got gutsy lol. I was wearing a 50C, normally you would just try one size down..but i said what the heck and grabbed a 46C...it fit..and it fit great...didnt roll on the sides, straps didnt slip, and mega support! It is a Just My Size brand...but this means that I am not far from a 44, which means I can go into any store, and select from many more styles off the pegs, rather than just the JMS ones in the boxes...i swear i have worn the same 3 styles of bras for as long as I can remember lol. I dont track my measurements..one because in past years when I have...after losing a few inches I would assume that i should change size and then go try it on, and it just didnt work and id be disappointed...so this way, i dont assume anything, and if i try something on and it dont fit..i dont feel so bad. Now, if the lower body can drop as easily as the upper body, id be set lol...but ill take a drop...ANYWHERE on my body lol.
  16. This has been a crazy week. One of those weeks where I worked every day and had some work event each night. Just exhausting. But...several interesting things happened: 1. A few different NSV's this week. I was able to wear several things from my closet that I haven't worn in a couple of years. That was really good.....I needed them for a couple of dressy events. 2. I totally got checked out by some guy at the gas station. I seriously don't remember the last time that happened. I tend to be oblivious to that stuff....but this was really obvious. 3. A couple people noticed and commented on my weight loss....they are basically the first that have noticed,....which is weird since I haven't lost in about two weeks....but whatever. 4. And the biggie...my first stuck and burping episode. My period came this week, unexpectedly because I have an IUD and haven't had a period in months. When I had surgery I was warned that some people seem a little tighter around that time, but didn't give it much thought because I haven't been having periods. I'm about 5 weeks post op and have no fill, so since starting back on "normal" food I have basically no restriction other than what I am attempting to do...basically just a diet at this point. So, Hubby and I take the kids and go out to dinner at a BBQ place he likes. I order some BBQ beef with roasted veggies. Have had it since surgery a couple of times, no issues. First bite, I guess it was too big or I didn't chew enough or both and BAM! Stuck! Painful, feels like a heart attack stuck. I tried sipping some Water, the water went down, but still stuck and still in pain. I sat for a couple of minutes but was getting increasingly uncomfortable so I quickly headed to the restroom. Then I started with the sliming. Never had it before and it was very unpleasant. Spitting and spitting and that hunk of meat feels like it is stuck in the middle of my chest. I spent about ten minutes in the bathroom, before it finally just went down, I burped and it was basically over. Dinner was over too, I managed to sip a little tea and that was it. Kept with liquids for about 24 hours after. So......my first fill is in just over a week. I suspect that I will have to be more careful than I have been and if my period comes again, super careful at that time once I have the fill added. First fill in a week,,,,can't wait!
  17. I can still distinctly remember having that fear of not fitting in a desk at school going back as far as grade school. This is indeed a monumental NSV! Congrats!

But inquiring minds and curiosity wants to know lol , I knew your wife was seeing you , really seeing you now look out , she will be , doing things with you soon that you think she might never do lol your wife is just being supportive and happy that she has her boyfriend and hubby back(you) , great NSV , it is great when people that see you every day just confirms what we are trying to accomplish, or have far we have coe from where we were or where we are going.
  20. I was updating my blog this morning and realized that my BMI is now under 30 for the first time in probably 25 years. I am no longer obese and just overweight. I still have about 33 more pounds to lose but no longer being statistically obese is a big deal for me. My next goal is being at normal weight and out of the overweight catagory.

    Frustrated!

You are entering into the "3rd week stall" zone. This is far more common than many think. You are not doing anything wrong, you will need patience at this time. Just keep doing all the right things that you are currently doing, continue to heal and keep getting in all your fluids. The scale will start moving again in time. In the mean time, it might be a good idea to stay off the scale for at least a few weeks. I know, easier said than done, but if it's frustrating you then it's just causing you unnecessary stress that is really unhelpful to your efforts. Please note, stress is a factor when it comes to no weight loss as well. Find other ways to measure success, there are so many. What NSV's have you had already? How many inches have you lost? Are there side by side photos you can create to see the difference? Find other avenues, you will see they really do make you feel a lot better.

    NSV- I could cry! :0D

CheerMama Wanna cry??? here you go - nice box of kleenex at your disposal!!! its all those little/small NSV's that we love they continue to pile up nicely towards your healthier, happier, longer life in sleeveland keep up the great job/work good luck kathy
  23. I am 5 weeks out from surgery- Anyway, I am at the beach on a vacation with my family. It has been really hard to eat, but have Protein drink, will travel.... We were going back to our hotel by car and I look down and my LEGS ARE CROSSED!!!!! I didn't even think about it. I almost started to cry!
  24. I do high intensity Water aerobics most every Tuesday and Thursday. On Tuesday, my swimsuit about fell off (I bought it in February when I was still about a 24W or thereabouts) so when I saw that Macys had clorine resistant suits for 50% off I had to snap one up. I was so excited to pick a black suit with hot pink trim including a zipper up the front! My inner thighs are gross so I wear these sorta bicycle short things under the suit. the total effect isn't too hideous. The suit I had before was a tankini worn with shorts which was great at first, but when it got too big, it was a little bit of a train wreck. It did cover my thighs, but I was in danger of stepping out of the pool and leaving the suit behind - something I DON'T want to have happen! Anyway, NSV #1 - I fit into and 18! Not an 18W, and actual honest to goodness 18! I started in the 26W range, and what a difference! NSV #2 - I had 3 people in my water aerobics class come up and tell me how good I looked, how i must have lost weight suddenly and how much they liked the suit. I saw these same people on Tuesday, but wearing a dumpy looking too big suit just isn't flattering and they really noticed the difference. I am starting to feel so much closer to "normal" sized even though I still have a lot to lose.
  25. This journey is as much psychological as it is physical. To have moments of epiphany and actually have the motivation to pursue greater is an NSV. You've conquered a major hurdle in your life and have overcome something that has plagued you for sometime. When these things occur, we realize we have regained lost power and belief in ourselves to do "the impossible". Congrats to you at this new moment of discovery, may there be many more moments of positive realization for you in the near future.
