    Seriously?

Damn straight. I grew up in that culture, and my Dad never put up with that bs. No excuses was my childhood motto. People are pansies these days, thinking everywhere should be a safe space. Buck up!A true "safe space" is one where people tell you what you NEED to hear, not what you WANT to hear. That's the diff. IN MY OPINION.Agreed. But 99% of people won't. Oh well.

    Seriously?

Amazing post. And so true. As someone who has been involved with 12 Step programs like AA most of my life, believe you me, there is none of that nonsense going on when someone in a meeting admits they 'slipped'. There's no coddling, head patting or excusing the behavior. There's just "Get your sh*t together, man, or you're going to DIE". Damn straight. I grew up in that culture, and my Dad never put up with that bs. No excuses was my childhood motto. People are pansies these days, thinking everywhere should be a safe space. Buck up!

    Seriously?

So true. Those dogs won't hunt........ I also get worn out with the constant excuses and bs rationale that continues even after the pre-op counseling and severity of bariatric solutions is explained.....yet the mindset doesn't change. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!

    Seriously?

I don't care about the flak...I'm fed up. And I'm ranting about it. I see these people here, in my support group, in the waiting room at my doctor's office...they're everywhere. Complaining, whining, justifying their own crappy choices by asking others to validate them. I'm raising two sons to NOT be backseat drivers to their choices, to not blame their self-created misfortune on others...it's a personal peeve of mine. YMMV, of course.

    Help nicotine test

I would suggest u quit now and be completely honest with ur surgeon bc it's not just ur life at risk on the table but the life's of everyone on that operating team if something happens to you that is affected by it. I quit cold turkey the day after my first appointment 7 months ago. I still crave one over 50% of the time but I also see how much healthier I feel and how less often I'm sick!! My surgery is also on the 22nd!! Gl Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Seriously?

Just spent an hour of my life I'll never get back reading in the Pre-/Post-Op Sleeve forums and I'm amazed by what people will still, even as they're undertaking MAJOR SURGERY, say to justify their behavior. There are people about to have most of their stomach removed who say "I don't have a problem with food". Say what?? I'm pretty sure the Fat Fairy didn't put all this weight on any of us, right? "I couldn't stop myself". Yes, you could have...you DIDN'T. "Everyone does it". No, they don't. YOU did. As I'm typing this out, it's clear that I'm fed up with the lack of ownership of behavior. It's odd to watch fat people trying to float the same justifications here that they've used for years with other people. Walking into a group of fat people and saying "I don't have a problem with food" is pretty ridiculous...that dog just won't hunt here. If you can't be honest with yourself and a group of people much like yourself, how can you succeed with WLS? The non-ownership of our own actions and capabilities is what got many (most?) of us to where we are and it kills me that there are people STILL wallowing in the 'I don't control myself' pool who are getting WLS. What a waste.

    Post op depression

I gained three Pounds.. Found out at the drs and nearly hit the roof!! But was told it'd all the Fluid retention from IV fluids load impatient and liquid diet plus my period and to not worry about it. Still. I felt devastated like I did something wrong. I did know that this is a common experience though...from other post here... I am getting my fluids in via Protein drinks, Water, popsicles , skim milk, and now v8. Twisting a muscle is a definite painful setback but it's temporary and you still need to walk some to heal that as well as have lots of protein. If you are in purees now. You have more options!! Depression is evil but I bet you have some positive successes that you are looking over.. For me. I'm on only one of the four diabetes meds I was on. Taking two shots a day instead of five plus pills. Sure I'm on meds for other crap but this is huge especially bc my surgeon said he didn't think my diabetes would go into remission or close because of how long I've had it and how severe it is. Being dehydrated will make you miserable without tge sleeve but with it, you will end up in the hospital if you don't take action . It's in your hands. You can drink electrolyte water like smart water or diet Gatorade if you don't have sugar free issues like I do. You can suck on ice chips too and do popsicles and decaf tea. Liquid Soups, broths and work hard on getting in the higher end of protein bc that promoted healing the sleeve surgery as well as your muscle injury. And walk a little each day to help healing physical and emotionally. I know you know all of this stuff but sometimes we need a reminder . It will get better...that's been the overarching message I've heard from people who have experienced all kinds of complications!!

    CIGNA Insurance

Hi Everyone! I have a question about insurance. My Insurance covers weight loss surgery. I just had twins in June and I've hit all my out of pockets, so I figured this would be the best time to have surgery. My insurance requires 3 diet consults with a dietician. Well I didn't lose any weight during this time. I met wth the psychologist for the evaluation and she said that I would be a great candidate. So I'm worried I won't be able to have surgery bc I didn't lose the weight.... anyone else's gone through anything similar? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. On mine, it was just dates of my visits and what my weight was each visit. That was it. And with BC I wasn't required to lose weight, I was just to be under a doctors supervision. I did loose a little but not a lot. But any weight loss is a bonus.

    Will I be broken forever?

I know exactly how you feel. You aren't alone. Not everyone feels "amazing" post op. You definitely will heal. And with the healing comes less discomfort and pain. I found that simply concentrating on healing and getting well post op was the most peaceful way forward. I only concentrated on drinking Water and broth to stay hydrated and "fed". I stopped worrying about how many or few calories I was getting or how much Protein etc. I just focused on getting well. You just had major surgery. Just think about how many internal stitches are in your stomach and how much healing that will take. Think about the lsyers of skin, muscle etc that the laparotomy tools went through. Just because you only see a few small external surgery sites, I think some people forget how much trauma our bodies have been through. I became seriously ill post op and dropped 60lbs in four weeks with a septic abscess in my abdomen, then contracted clostridium difficile. Trust me, if I got better, you will too! Well done for trying to get back to work. I could not have done it! Just take really good care of your healing process. You can worry about weight loss and food intake later on. Good luck and God bless. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Nausea seven weeks out

So the nausea went away after taking one pill and I didn't end up taking another-it faded away on it's own. Now though, I've felt some pretty strong pains in my lower abdomen since Sunday afternoon. I thought maybe it was gas pain so I took a laxative to help move things along. Laxative worked just as it should (except for waking me at 4am), but now pain remains. Any ideas? I'm getting a little nervous Bc things have been smooth thus far and I just hope there isn't some problem that I'm not addressing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I know everyone is human and everyone makes mistakes but I want to share something my surgeon has told me that when I start my pre next week it's gunna help me make the right choices. Last year they had someone that cheated on they're diet and never told them to make a long story short they almost lost her. She was in the icu for three months. U have to think u r not just risking ur life. But everyone in that surgical room is put at risk also. Just imagine they're discussions when something goes wrong in there. can we save her. We have to save her. How will they live everyday seeing that girl in they're head if they hadn't saved her. Bc of her own mistake they were all put at stake. The nurses the surgical team EVERYONE. Not hounding on anyone but before you make your decisions maybe think of that scenario and that it's not just ur life that can be affected by ur choice. Gl to all and hope that helps bc it definitely is gunna help me!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I thought I had more time! (Kinda long)

I just got sleeved so I don't have much in wisdom to add but I think your doing great. I wish I was where you are now! I do think from a psychological perspective, something i know a little more about, it IS a new body adjustment for better or worse and the changes were fast. More then what you expected. So it's good you are happy with your photos...how many ppl can say that?? I read in one book a suggestion to spend time looking at your body in the mirror each day. Learn your new self and love it. I've also read you should wait at least two years after goal weight before getting plastics bc things can change in terms is skin tightening and emotionally adjusting. It's good you realize your husband's butt comment wasn't meant to be hurtful but hurt due to your own hurt over your butt being gone!! The fact that your married and seems ur husband is supporting and happy not body shaming you is grand so it's up to your attitude to accept the new you!!

    Feel like such a failure...

Totally have your back and if you need a partner - lemme know, I need help lately and I'm only 4 months out :/ Roommate is getting harsh to live with again, and I'm kinda going why bother... but I know why I bother - its just pushing through his verbal bs is getting harder lately...

    BEST protien shake option

I'm using g6 sport vanilla whey isolate Protein powder made with stevia ...I got it on recommendation at GNC and it has 25grams of protein per delicious scoop. It is not chalky and in skim milk, it tastes like a melted milk shake. I now add yogurt to it and it's just awesome sauce I still drink chocolate preimere protein but the sucralose makes me pretty I'll so I leave them for emergencies since my insurance bought like four cases of it for me!!! I'm told the g6 is better quality then Isopure but isopure is more popular bc they heavy advertise to weight loss doctors and so on. They have more sodium and stuff as well than this product but I can't vouch for all of that. I need to buy unflavored Protein Powder next....
  22. I will soon be starting my pre op diet and want to see what everyone suggests? I'm leaning more forwards Water bc I'm not a big milk person but wonder if it's nasty!!?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
