December Clevelanders

I did one on ones with the dietician bc of my work schedule. I had to start the program all over bc I didn't know I could do one on one and missed 3 months. Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App -
Hi guys. I haven't been on in ages but over the summer had some plastic surgeries. I had an upper/ lower eye lift with a neck lift, then had a breast lift with an arm lift. I am so happy with everything that I did that I have scheduled a tummy tuck for January. I traded severely baggy upper arms for some scars, but I am so good with the trade. However, after each surgery I got so constipated that I gained a couple of pounds each time that I thought would come back off after swelling but hasn't. I am now 9 lbs up from my lowest of 150. I went in to my 2 yr checkup expecting to be chastised, but they were thrilled that I was only 1 lb different from the 1 yr checkup. (Must have lost weight during the year and then gained THAT back). So they were happy, I was happy they weren't mad, but I still am internally freaking out. I have never been an alcohol drinker, but I have become one. A Big one. I know there is a lot of sugar in wine but I can't eat very well so I drink. Plus I don't want to eat and drink together so I don't eat. I realized I prob don't get but maybe 20 gr of protein in a day. Soooo, I came back to my support group to see how everyone is faring and to get a plan together. My bloodwork came back fine except for the iron is low. But I don't want constipation, so I don't take a lot on purpose. But I do get dizzy and shaky ALOT. But I have also taken up drinking coffee several times a day (I never drank coffee before either and didn't understand ppl that liked it) my other go to drink is 1/2 sweet-unsweetened tea. I drink all day and will 'eat' soup bc it's cold here now. But it's not good for me and bc of the surgeries, I need to re-lose. My plan, and due to tips from this group, is to uptake my protein and go to the gym. I already ate a quest bar for breakfast. Yay me. I have no motivation for the gym tho, and no friend that goes there. Yes, I know I'll meet someone there and that's in my mind, but also a part of me thinks, "you'll meet a guy and flirt while not wearing your ring during a workout and you'll like the attention". My husband and I aren't close, and I'm lonely a lot, so I'm really nervous bc I think I could be swayed so easily and I don't think I'll have much willpower to not get caught up in it. But I don't want to bc I'm faithful but I really want someone to talk to and give me attention. My husband and I tried and tried, but we just live in this weird world where we share a house. (Separate fridges, sides of the house, dogs, garages, friends, etc) Anyway, I'm not complaining about that, but I'm just explaining how I could meet someone like-minded but seriously don't want the stress of lying or hiding something from him. So I avoid men usually. I hide in my office at work and at stay at home bc I don't trust myself. So, off I'm going to the gym and will try hard to make girlfriends at once and not talk to the men so I don't make a huge mistake. It's hard tho bc I'm craving some attention. That's all I'm saying I guess. Also, during my 2 yr, the PA said that I'm 24BMI and that that's a "one percenter" at 2yrs and beyond. (I weighed 156- 3 lbs ago)That it was fantastic, and great job!". That being said, I've noticed that in our support group, a lot of us have low BMIs and we should be so happy that we are not in the "norm" and have lost so much and have maintained so well thus far. Agreed that it will get harder though and it will take work. I'm going to work on my choices of beverages, protein intake and working out. Congratulations everyone for being healthier this year and even more so in the coming year.

Considering a sleeve in Tijuana.
treciag replied to kellybelly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It literally took me a week and a half. I was back and forth with my insurance company for three months. During that time I researched "A Lighter Me," the Doctors, the Hospital and cost. Straight after my insurance company rejected me, even though they approved the lap band, I made the call to ALM and they made the arrangements. I was not playing bc I knew I had a week of vacation coming up and wanted it to get done during that time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
4 days post-op, trouble staying awake?
gustavio replied to ahappycamper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so tired for the first week at least, I had no idea how I was going to return to work as scheduled bc I couldn't hold my eyes open for more than a few hours. I had no choice but to return because since I'm a secret sleever, I didn't know what to tell them if I took time off. (I have a set schedule. I work 7 days on and then am off 7 days.) so I recovered for my 7 days off. Anyway, I made it and the pushing myself to get up and getting working, helped a lot. I do not think there are no people who have surgery for dire medical reasons regardless of the alternate consequences. All I am saying is that I find it ridiculous and am calling BS on people claiming there isn't a "vanity".....and I really consider it to be more of a praying to look different/better for happiness.......aspect to WLS. People who are desperate for weight loss and to feel "normal" and are concerned about trading in fat for skin problems shouldn't be shamed for asking about it. The OP was rude and nasty and I responded with the feeling that I got from that post. and Im 36....not a fossil but not a college kid. Also, I have PCOS, joint deterioration and PTSD to name a few issues I want relief from. I didn't slip through a Psych eval and IDGAF if anyone blocks me. I have every right to ask any question or react to any post just like everyone else here. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App -

Dallas doctors indicted by Feds in massive Dallas hospital conspiracy.
Buffy1 replied to Buffy1's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
If you live in Texas and are looking for a doctor you can get on the Texas State Medical Board website to see if they have any judgments against them or suspensions etc. You should be able to get on the website of the county you live in and go to civil cases and see any cases filed as far as malpractice, financial , etc. When I worked as a RN Paralegal for a medical malpractice firm, that is where I started when checking out doctors. Since the Feds are after these docs it's serious because insurance fraud is huge. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

I think its horrible when people...like me....go on this site for support and information on experiences and read BS talking about how their concerns are annoying or stupid to some other self righteous person. This isn't Facebook this is a WLS forum for information and "fellowship" for the process. Not to make others feel worse about themselves. Some people come on here because they DONT get support at home. To be ridiculed by someone who just happened to have surgery first is wrong. And I am nice, but I call it like I see it. Nobody on here should be putting down anybody's questions and making them self conscious. Everyone here has a VALID struggle and we, you, everyone here is here to get information and FEEL BETTER about themselves. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App -

Went to see surgeon today they are very happy with my progress surgeon said out of all the surgeries he has done he had never seen a patient do as well as I have and was shocked when he came to check in on me and seen me up sitting in a chair and not laying in bed on the day of my surgery. And he had never had a patient go back to work 3 days post op. He said I have been a model patient. I told him I feel wonderful and have more energy then my husband even the day I came home. My weight started at 289. I was 264 on day of surgery. 274 after surgery bc of fluids and swelling. Today I weighed 254. So I'm down a total of 35 lbs. best news of it all stage two diet. After 4 weeks of nothing but liquids I was so ready!!! SCRAMBLED eggs NEVER TASTED SO GOOD. two bites and I was stuffed like I went to a buffet. LOVED IT!!! Tomorrow I'm making ricotta bake!!! I have had no regret no buyers remorse. No emotional outbursts. I've never felt so alive and happy over a surgical procedure. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So after being on my preliquid diet for seven days and just about to get ready to start my full liquid diet, my insurance tells me that the center where I'm having my surgery is not a blue point facility so it won't be approved. I am livid. I called my drs office and they call the insurance company and they say that's bs we have it on record that you told us this facility was approved and that it did not have to be a blue point facility. So now my surgeon and office manager are trying to get in contact with the medical director over the insurance to figure something out. I don't know what to do all I feel is anger and like eating. I ask them should I continue my liquid diet or should I stop she says its your call. I am blown by this, literally three days before my surgery, I have made plans with my job and everything, like what kind of crap is this. BCBS Anthem... Literally trying to find a reason to deny me how low of them. Everything else fits and I'm approved but now its my hospital that doesn't work for them how ridiculous and its a center of excellence Sent from my SM-T530NU using the BariatricPal App

I think by "user error" my surgeon meant compliance, that in his experience band people were less likely to follow the rules. But with any procedure we have to follow the rules to be successful. We all know that. I wonder why of all WLS the band people are less likely to follow the rules? My doctor said the same thing. Now the balloon or whatever it is they got going on now seems to be less problematic compared to the lap band. I think (and this could have a lot to do with the doctor) that getting the band filled just right must be hard. So many people either can't eat at all or seem to be able to eat too much. I understand that even if you THINK you can eat too much you shouldn't do it. That's a no brainer. But for me (and I will only speak for myself here) the main reason I got obese to begin with was that I was HUNGRY. All the time. Starved. I would be worried, for ME anyway, that my big old growling starving stomach would still be there, under the band, screaming to be fed. But that's just me, obviously many people have done well with the band.

Dec. 2013 VSGers: 3 Year UPDATE?
treciag replied to Dr-Patient's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved (after having my lap band removed) in march 2013. It's been a while. I've had to reconnect bc of weight gain, oh yeah it's real. I'm 5' 9" HW: 259...left: 170 cw:201....when I saw that number over 200 I almost passed out. Yesterday I saw my nutritionist and that was hard bc I've had to relive my worst fear. I will not go back. I've signed up for several 5ks, 10k's and half marathon over the next year. I'm currently walking on an incline on the treadmill bc that burns the calories the fastest. I've paid for weight training and hot yoga, which I will implement over the next few weeks. I will not go back. I've come way too far. But I need support. So if anyone has advice, pls share. My motivation is here bc of fear but I'd like it to stay bc I'm comfortable with how I'm challenging myself. Please join me MyFitnessPal: treciagesq99 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
