Hello, My name is Desire’e and I am new to the group. Just needing a little advice and hopefully a sense of encouragement. I am 7 weeks out from my revision surgery from gastric sleeve to gastric bypass. I have only lost 27 lbs so far, and I have followed the rules to the T!! Anyone else gone through this after a revision?

Lots of people on here think about getting a revision for way too long. If you are suffering from gerd I would be more worried about that than the weight first. I would Get the revision process started asap and you can even ask the surgeon for the best reset diet while you are there. -

hello september friends! i had my gastric bypass on 9/7 and my food progression isn’t entirely going to plan. i was supposed to move on to puréed but my new stomach was rejecting it so i tried backing up to full liquids again, and now THAT’S being rejected. i have an appointment next monday for an endoscopy to see if there’s something wrong or if they need to adjust my stomach pouch or widen my new stomach connection. apparently this can be a pretty common and my surgeon said once you start vomiting it steps your stomach healing back a couple steps. i am endlessly happy for my surgery and i knew this was an anticipated hurdle. thank gods for the six months to prepare for my life post-op. -

So good that you've found this forum - everyone here is so supportive. Sounds like revision is the right thing, particularly given your GERD. And congratulations on your new arrival (maybe not so new now?)!!! My pre-op diet was 2 weeks of 800 calories a day. I could do it whatever way I wanted. What I did was three meal replacement shakes or soups (or whatever) and a small protein and veg meal in the evening. I should say I live in Ireland so it's likely to be different for you. My original surgery date was cancelled the day before I was meant to have it and not re-scheduled for 2 months so I ended up sticking to the 800 calories (give or take) all that time and losing 25lbs. I now view those as pounds I don't have to work hard to lose now, although at the time it was absolutely agonizing waiting for a date!!! I wish you all the best on your weight loss journey. I think your experience with the sleeve and the challenges you faced along the way will really help you get the best out of a bypass. -

My tips and why I Don't recommend Sleeve surgery for long term
You Are My Sunshine replied to strawberryga's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
THIS! I never will be able to, it will always be like that. As far as the OP, I did not know that you could revise RNY in a sleeve-like manner. I had to google it, and apparently it is a thing. Learn every day! Ha. The other thing you said about liposuction, though, I've been wondering about that. The occurrence of regain in those that have had some of their fat removed (through lipo or tucks). As much as I don't want to do more surgeries, I'm open to the idea of removing some of these fat cells when I'm at a maintainable weight as part of this process in keeping it off. -
I'm new here. Just got my surgery date - RNY Bypass on October 10th! Liquid diet starts Monday October 4th.

3 years out from Sleeve. I feel like a failure.

Hey guys, First post here. I feel like such a failure. I had the sleeve back in 2019. Got pregnant, then needed back surgery all before I hit the year mark. Let's just say I gained most of my weight back. I'm thinking about a revision because I'm having issues with gerd and my hernia. I went to a support meeting last night and the instructor suggested I try and go on pre surgery liquid diet again and see if I get the restriction back. Can anyone refresh my memory on what that looks like besides protien drinks? -

I had my bypass the 23rd. I've been stalled, too, so frustrating, but I'm down 20 lbs. Sure doesn't look like it, though

After bypass I developed like a phlegm in the back of my throat, then watery eyes and some other small things. I had mine right before summer so I called my PCP and told him and he said it is allergies. Had me use flonase for allergies. I was hesitant because I NEVER have had allergies my entire life, and really thought it was something from the surgery. But, I did and it went away in a few days! It is a huge coincidence that I developed allergies after having WLS and I blame it on the surgery because I want to but it's unlikely obviously. haha Anyway, apparently I have allergies now and the flonase takes care of it. Maybe ask the doctor, or give it a try? It is over the counter and like 15 bucks.

That's the day I had my bypass! I'm glad you are doing so well too. Maybe that day was a lucky day. I came home from the hospital weighing 7 lbs more then when I went in, so maybe your body is still just slowly losing the swelling and extra fluids from the surgery itself. You are doing great with the exercise, at least to me. I am barely up to walking half a mile every morning on my treadmill. I'm working on adding more but its slow going atm. Welcome to the group! -

Starting 2nd week after surgery. I am off my metformin and blood sugar levels are excellent. I do feel a bit week and had only one slight dizzy spell. Wounds are healing quite well. Tiny bit of bruising. Vitamins and Proteins are easy to consume and tracking everything with 'my fitness' app. I did find it not too much fun at the supermarket today. My old brain wanted buy things I know I will most likely never eat again. But I'm ok with that . I have found that Ido have a tendency to swallow air when I drink fluids and I'm working on slowing right down to a crawl with it. I tilt my head back a bit and swallow. Seems a bit weird but it works for me. I've had the gastric bypass Sept 19 . I started at 265.5 lbs 2 weeks before surgery and on the day of my surgery I was 250 lbs. I started to track my weight from then and have slowly lost 5.5 lbs in my first week. I do seem to have not lost anything for three days but I do see and feel my body structure changing. I have been mobile more the last few days and I am starting to track that also. Today I walked about 1km and will be adding more distance daily. Maybe will incorporate the treadmill in my buildings exercise room. I'm glad I found this group and look forward to reading and responding to people questions. I'm sure I will have some and I am happy to answer any I can for others. Thanks. Cheers from Toronto Canada. !! -

You're welcome! Both medications delay gastric emptying, so that can definitely bring back the restricted feeling. I haven't had any side effects with Mounjaro yet. I ended my Saxenda run at the highest dose, so the beginning dose of Mounjaro (2.5mg) probably won't be an issue. I move up to 5mg next month, so we'll see what happens then. My side effects with Saxenda happened early on and were very mild...fatigue and a little nausea during the first week. I was fine after that. I am grateful to have a bariatric doctor that is educated on GLP-1s and open to prescribing them when needed. I didn't want to go the revision route (and probably wasn't a candidate because even with the regain, I've maintained over 70% of my original weight loss). I just needed an additional tool. [emoji4]

In 2014 I had my first wls (sleeve) sugery. I am 75 pounds smaller. However, GERD and 2 hernias later I need revision. I hate that this is seen as a some kinda failure on my part. I work and pay for insurance! Sent from my SM-G996U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

I was self pay for gastric bypass and it was only $17k. That was for everything, surgeon, anesthesia, hospital stay, and insurance in case I end up with complications that I have to be seen for. It also covered all my pre and post op appointments & consultations. Oregon needs to get their **** together!!

Eating with bypass vs lapband
Daddyof4 replied to Juniper123's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi Bypass, I have been absent, sorry. I had my revision March 21, I can’t believe it’s been 6 months! I now know how eating with bypass is different from with the band. It feels more natural to me too. I started out following the guidelines to the letter but have since slacked off a bit. I meet with the nutritionist tomorrow and the physician assistant Wednesday; they will help me get back on track. My recovery was pretty easy, I was lucky. The surgery pain only lasted a week (except for sneezing!). have been able to eat any food I’ve tried and have only vomited when I failed to stop eating after getting my signal - hiccups. I’m down about 73 lb but still want to lose a little more. I’m trying to hit the gym 3 x a week but most weeks it’s only 2. I have a ton more energy and my blood pressure is under control. I hope you’ve had similar successes, thanks to my surgeon. Let me know how you are doing now. Take care. -
Hi all, I had a sleeve in 2014 and a revision to bypass in 2017 due to severe GERD. My resting heart rate has been low consistently for several years (40s-low 50’s) and although I exercise, I am by no means an athlete. I have dealt with on and off light headedness for a while, and have fainted probably 3-4 times over the years, the most recent time this last week. I honestly hadn’t even thought about my WLS being related, but came across an old post on here today that was talking about low heart rates and did some research online. It sounds like low heart rates aren’t that uncommon after surgery, but my understanding is that this is something that usually resolves itself eventually. Has anyone dealt with fainting or low heart rates this far out from surgery? I did reach out to my doctor this past episode and she’s referring me to a cardiologist, but I thought I would check here since I’m sure this isn’t something a normal PCP would come across often. Thanks so much!

I'm so glad you are doing so well! I too am having an easier than expected time. I am hitting my water and protein goals since getting home but I still don't know what full feels like and getting to hit those goals worries me a bit. I can somewhat feel full when drinking my protein shake, but it doesn't even feel like anything until I hit around 6 oz. Then I feel pressure but not bad pressure, no nausea, no pain. I am drinking slower on purpose, so my drink will take me like 40 to 60 min to drink, but that's more by choice then by need. I've eaten a 4 oz sugar free pudding in about 5 min and didn't feel anything either until like 40 min later and then I felt pressure. I have my drs appointment tomorrow as my one week check up after my bypass and I'm going to tell him my worries so hopefully I'll have some answers soon. As far as pain, I have been using the belly binder (wrong name) and that has pretty much kept the pain away. I have been able to sleep on my sides and roll over, even when I was in the hospital. Take it off and its a different story though lol. I hope we continue to do well and no bombs drop! -
I'm nearly 2 years post op (bypass) and most foods still make me ill after only a couple of bites. I take small bites, eat slowly etc., not heavy/ greasy food, but yeah. Most food makes me a bit sick and I'm so over it. Like, it's a struggle to remain over 115lbs, which is crazy! (I still have a bunch of skin removal to go too, at least 5lbs worth and my weight ranges between 117 and 125.) I'm putting a call in to my doctor because it just seems a bit weird that I'm still getting nauseated so very often. Keeps me skinny I guess. *sigh* 😓 Anyone else have this issue?
