I was just wondering if anyone could provide info as to pain level after conversion from band to sleeve? When I had my band installed I was up and walking around within hours. Night nurse that took care of me said only way they knew I was that patient was because I had an iv in my arm. I am tired of this sore port that I have on my belly and I'm almost positive I am going to get sleeved. A little nervous about the removing of my stomach but only other option is full bypass.... Anyways if anyone could help with info that would be great!!! Thanks

Anyone Have Surgery At/about 200?
PreciousCargo replied to carbgrl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 6 weeks post op. The last two weeks I have lost a total of 5 pounds. I didnt have the three/four week stall but it has been a slow weight loss. They talk about protein, protein, protein but if you constantly vomit and can only eat soups with carbs maybe this is stalling my weight loss. I feel your frustration because I feel the same. -
I still can hardly believe how great things are going. I stayed at a hotel for a few days post op bc I live about 8 hours from hospital. Came back home yesterday and was so happy to see my baby girl again! She is only 2 so she doesn't understand why I can't pick her up yet. I showed her my boo boos and she gave me a check up with her dr kit, made my day! My hunger has been nearly non existent. Toughest part was fixing her dinner and snacks, used to I would eat along with her. I can drink water without much restriction if I pace myself, but protein drinks and protein soups I feel very full at about 3 oz. still no pain or nausea. I have lost 10 lbs since surgery 6 days ago, I know that is not a realistic or sustainable rate, but for now I am loving it!

Need some tips on grocery and protein shopping
neni26 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone my name is Denise im from bronx ny i am getting sleeved on march 8th and i am having trouble to go shopping for my pre op and post op can someone give me some tips on whats good and how many calories are we suppose to be consuming i asked but i forgot -
At 8 weeks I was pretty much unable to over-indulge. Now at 10 months I can a little. I suggest you do what you have been doing which is protein first, then filling the edges with healthy things. We usually have a couple healthier vegetable dishes and a tiny bit of mashed potato won't hurt anyone. Just eat the turkey and veggies. They're good for you.

Hey all you twenty-somethings! I thought I'd let you know how I'm going to give you a bit of encouragement if any of you are yet to be sleeved. I got out of hospital a little over a week ago and I'm doing absolutely terrific! After all the reading I've done on this site of other people's issues post-surgery with getting food down I was a bit spooked by it all. So far so good - I've been able to eat absolutely everything I need to with no hassles what-so-ever. Milk is fine, fibrous food is fine and even Protein is fine (though it doesn't take much protein to get me full). I thought I'd share it with you because I personally was really worried about how much discomfort I would be in when eating. I'm not sure if it's because of my age, that maybe I've healed really quickly but it could be that. So don't get too worried about it - just go with the flow and test yourself but try not to overdo it. I did have one sliming incident but that because the nurses were forcing me to have some jelly the next day after surgery. I encourage burping early on in recovery - it really helps you feel better, especially cause our new stomachs don't have as much room for storing gases as our old ones did! Good luck to you all - you'll do great!

Realization - Eating Habits
NurseGrace replied to NurseGrace's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That could be it too however personally I THINK I am eating enough. I am averaging about 600 calories a day but I've been making them count for the most part with good Protein and stuff. It's also not helping that I am looking for work right now so I am at home TOO MUCH. -

Kidney stones post op!
shedo82773 replied to pascui19's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, I think I'm ok. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. Every since I had my WLS all I have room for is my Protein!! I have always loved my Veggies so this is hard on me!! But....now I think I'm ok with it. Those are some of my favorite veggies too. Did he say anything about Sleeve Patients or is it just the RNYer's? Hubby had the Sleeve June 3, 2016 so just wondering. -
Preparing for Surgery via Shopping Therapy
Bufflehead posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery is in just under three weeks, so today was devoted to SPENDING MONEY on all the stuff I will need/want. And here is where I am going to tell you all about it in excruciating detail. http://www.onestopplus.com/ - front-closing leisure bra, empire waist dress, shorty pajamas http://www.amazon.com - 2 x 100 1 oz. medicine cups (to measure/control fluid intake), mini-muffin pan and liners (for the "bites" recipes from Eggface), mini ice cube trays (for making smoothies and shakes), gas-x strips, anti-skid fuzzy socks, Celebrate multi-complete bariatric vitamins with iron, extra large heating pad, blender bottle, Syntrax Nectar medical unflavored protein powder, digital thermometer, small blender. http://www.bjsbariatrics.com/ - Syntrax Nectar sample pack http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/ - Unjury starter kit with 2 packets of five flavors of protein powder, shaker bottle, and food thermometer. http://chikenutrition.com - Chike variety pack w/ 6 flavors Chike protein http://www.mybariatricpantry.com/ - 2 bottles Isopure Plus, Syntrax Matrix sample pack with all 8 flavors (including the famed mint cookie flavor!), Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme sample pack with 5 flavors including my favorite Peanut Butter Cookie, fruit drinks variety pack, pudding/shake variety pack, cappuccino protein drink, and Bariatric Advantage chewable probiotics http://www.vitalady.com - Dymatize Nutrition Elite Whey sample packs in butter cream toffee, mocha, chocolate mint, and gourmet vanilla; BSN Lean Dessert protein powder samples in banana cream pudding, vanilla whipped cream, and fresh cinnamon roll. I also bought a new comforter from Kohl's because mine has gotten kind of ratty and dirty and I figure I can get myself something new, beautiful, and, well, comforting that I'm going to be using during my recovery. This process is expensive even before figuring in direct medical costs! I'm really excited, even if I'm not excited about looking at my bank account balance right now. -
Quick Poll - best purer food to start on!
smileygal replied to smileygal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What about protein rich food? Puree casserole? -
I guess it depends on what "eating normally" means. Eating "normally" got me to almost 600 pounds. At 10-days post op my surgeon/NUTS program still had me on full liquids. I didn't progress to soft foods until the third week. What does your NUT advise? Whether or not you care what any of us say, I would highly suggest you care what your NUT and surgeon say. You are in their care. In the first few weeks after surgery eating "healthy" means allowing yourself to heal after major surgery. Following the food stages (texture) helps you to heal with a minimum of complications. So does focusing on getting enough Protein and fluids. I was cleared to get in the pool about 4 weeks post-op, once my incisions had completely closed up. I've been in the pool ever since.

Are there any restaurants Bari friendly?
higher replied to jackieu2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@LowBMISleever Sooo funny. I live in NYC but visit PB a few times a year. I was actually down there for my pre-op diet even! And I agree, restaurant dining is really enjoyable with the sleeve. I get to have a few bites of delicious professionally made Protein - kind of exotic compared to what I eat at home - and I don't leave the resto overstuffed and regretting it like I used to! I dine out 3-5 times a week. BTW how is Echo? I have never tried it because if I am at the Breakers I always end up at HMF. That small plate lifestyle is everything. -
Self Pay and Financing
NewMe_2014 replied to cassie_vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also self-pay and I'm paying quite a bit more to stay in the US and go through a plan with ongoing NUT and psych support as well as support groups and follow-ups. I have about 1/2 the money in cash and I ended up taking a cash out loan on my car which we owned free and clear. The auto loan rates are low right now so it was a good option for us. -

I dont care to share anything else and if they are suspicious of my answer which i believe some maybe but dont have the guts to say it to my face its their problem not mine(lol) #Loving my new outlook on life!!! Saw a few weeks ago someone posted coffee flavored protein shakes that were awesome!! Anyone have any idea what brand they were and where we can find them??

Did anyone drink the Special K protein shake for pre op diet...I am drinking bariatric advantage and can only drink 4oz a day its that nasty....anyone have any other suggestions?

I just finished my morning protein drink. It's the premier protein drink from costco and it's 11 oz. So I spent approximately one hour walking around the house and taking sips of the protein shake. Now that I'm finished, I've walked 5342 steps. My pedometer says I've burned 245 calories. The protein shake is 160 calories. So I know I've lost some weight there. While I'm home the next 4.5 weeks, I think I will keep up this routine for breakfast

Protein Shake...
vsgval replied to heartonmysleeve82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lactose free gnc protein shakes...I have tried everything under the sun and those stay down. I m scheduled for surgery May 8. I'm also lactose intolerant so none of those plant based proteins are good to me. -
Any advice or encouragement!
yami17leth replied to Katie Keeler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had surgery April 13 I was lactose intolerant pre op but only from direct cow milk (weird) and surgery just made it worse. I am able to drink my shakes I make them with soy milk While still at the hospital when I was put on stage 3 I remember the night before getting discharged, for dinner I was given Protein Powder and regular fat free milk. I did ask for soy milk but they had none. Oh Boy! That night my stomach felt AWFUL and I felt the urge to go to the bathroom; however it was impossible I was unable to go because nothing would happen as much as I tried. It was really bad. And after being sent home I took one dose of the constipation powder med ( it tastes eew) the doctor prescribed. About an hour later I had diarrhea ongoing for about 4 days. And I haven't had fat free regular milk again after being discharged. So I think your new pouch changes many things in your body and you insides are more sensitive. Just like a baby's stomach some milks just make them sick. Be strong Hope things get better Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Mine only requires a low fat diet, but for the sake of losing more weight up front, I have been drinking protein shakes for at least two meals a day.
