    Hmmmm

She was saying she already had the sleeve and wanted information about going to the bypass from the sleeve.
  2. I am 4 years post op & I have been plagued by nausea almost all day long. I wake up nauseous! This has been going on since at least February. I currently take 3-4 8mg of Zofran a day & meclezine too. I keep my food intake to less then 4 oz at a time so I’m not over stuffing myself. I am seeing a gastroenterologist & a naturopath & a urologist (I have asymptomatic Ecoli - I have it actively in my urine but have NO symptoms!) I’m wondering if this could be from the bypass. Anyone else dealt with any of this before? I’m just tired of feeling so crummy most of the time. We are going on our 1st 7 day cruise in Sept & I don’t want to deal with this then!

    Hmmmm

I doubt anyone has gone from bypass to sleeve since bypass is the more powerful surgery of the two. there are people who go from bypass to duodenal switch (which has a sleeved stomach and a bypassed small intestine), but to standalone sleeve, no. statistically, bypass has slightly better results, but statistics are statistics. It depends much more on your level of commitment than it does on which surgery you have. We have several people on here who've lost 100% of their excess weight - or close to it - with sleeve. revisions typically have slower weight loss than virgin surgeries.

    Hmmmm

Backstory- I had a sleeve surgery about seven years ago. I misused my tool with self sabotage. At the time, I didn't have the appreciation nor respect of myself. I wasn't mentally prepared for the physical changes. It's kinda like one of those things... that you don't know till you've been there and done that...sort of situation. You don't know what you don't know! I never hit Onederland...boo!! And as I shrunk in size, I was not taken seriously...that was the first for me and very mind boggling at the time. Those are the two things I remember most and with all that conveyed, the questions.. Those that had the sleeve and went to bypass, how do they compare with the level of success- A.as in the rapidness of weight loss? And B.the areas of the body that the weight loss was mostly noticeable? C.just out of curiosity has anyone had a bypass and went to sleeve? Lol...I have never heard of it much less a possibility...Ok..anddddd Goooo[emoji2956] Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post Op Coffee

yes it would have been the sugar. Sugar makes some bypass patients dump. Most coffee places have sugar free syrups for their fancy coffee drinks, and pretty much every place has packets of powdered artificial sweeteners.

    Mini-cheat 5 days post op

It's not the end of the world but take it seriously - if you couldn't follow the rules by day 5, what's going to happen by day 50? Or 500? After I was sleeved in 2016 I did extremely well at first, I followed the plan to a T, I never cheated, and I dropped 120 lbs in about 6 months or so. Then I figured I could splurge a little here and there, have a few bites of a snack, because what's the big deal, right? It ended up turning into a vicious cycle where I ate more and more crap and eventually I regained almost all of the weight I had lost and was absolutely miserable and depressed and feeling like a complete and utter failure. I got the revision to bypass in Nov 2021 and am down nearly 100 pounds, following the rules and doing everything I'm supposed to, and always keeping in mind what happened last time. Don't beat yourself up too bad but if you feel guilty - GOOD! Use that and remember it when you have cravings in the future. Remember this isn't a magic bullet, it's a tool, and it's up to you how you use it. You haven't failed because of one mistake, but you might fail if you let it become two mistakes, then three, and so on.

    Post Op Coffee

It's an individual thing. I'm a bypass patient, and I drink coffee - and various coffee drinks - all the time. Never had an issue.

    August Surgery Buddies!

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! It sounds like you’re prepared and have a wonderful support system. I had a gastric sleeve done 18 months ago but am now getting ready to have a revision (gastric bypass) on August 8th due to severe GERD. I wish I would have just had the bypass instead! Going through the two weeks of liquid diet can be tough but just keep your eyes on the prize! Swanson sipping bone broth is great to have on hand before and after surgery since it has a lot of protein. Remember to sip, sip, sip your water constantly after your surgery and get your bariatric vitamins ready (I take Barimelts.) I’ve rewatched a LOT of YouTube videos in preparation for my surgery; they’re very helpful and motivating. I know you’re going to do well! Be sure to keep us all updated! Best wishes!😁

    Post Op Coffee

Oh wow that sucks. Bypass must be very different than the sleeve. I have 2-3 cups of coffee most nights (I work overnights) without issue. Currently drinking a starbucks expresso drink lol

    #LETSGOOOO#

Hello everybody, In March of this year I was scheduled to get my gastric bypass, well long story short I chickened out, and that was a horrible decision for me to do. Because now I have arthritis in my left hip along with my other issues, so I called my coordinator and she said my insurance would still cover my surgery, I'm super stoked this time, and I am never ever going to put my health at risk again, this time it's different I have a goal, my goal is to have a baby by the time I'm 31, my wonderful boyfriend and I were talking about having a baby and at that moment I knew I was making the right decision, plus I'm tired of being unhealthy. So LETSGOOOOOOOOOO. :)

    Ugly, boring, and weak

First, congratulations on your successes. It was a huge change to your life choosing Gastric Bypass and making the commitment to 'do it right.' Perhaps it's time for another dramatic change in your life. @Recidivist said most of what I was going to suggest. Weight control does not need to be the center of your life. There are zillions of people that maintain a healthy lifestyle without making it the only thing in their life. You can do it to. The issue is you can't just decide not to focus on healthy living. Focusing on NOT doing something still makes it the center of your life. If nothing else changes healthy living will fill your life again. No, you need to fill your life with something else. Work doesn't seem to be it. What is it? This will get you away from where you are quicker that anything else. You are capable. Pretty is skin deep. Beauty is to the bone. Good luck, Tek
  13. Better appetite control. It's never easy, of course, it always takes effort from all of us to eat the right things...Etc, but for some reason it's easier to say I will wait till tomorrow when my calories reset... etc. No digestive issues except mild constipation now and then. My blood tests are way better this time around (vitamin/mineral and all my vitals). No more UTIs. Some reason I had tons during the sleeve, but once I got the RNY, they went away. Maybe the additional weight loss helped my bladder. Not sure. It's been totally worth it. I wish I wasn't such a chicken back then and just had the bypass when suggested. Wish you knew before surgery…

I am 16 months out and haven’t had any issues at all so far but seeing posts like this one sorta make me wish I had just done the bypass as well.
  15. I was sleeved in Dec. 2016 and did very very well at first - dropped about 120 lbs total in about 6 months or so. Then had some personal and professional problems and stopped taking care of myself, and slowly started gaining weight. I ended up gaining almost all of it back and I had the revision to bypass in Nov. 2021. Doctor told me I could be re-sleeved if I wanted, but I had GERD both before and after sleeve so he strongly recommended bypass which I agreed with. It's going very well again, albeit a little slower than with the sleeve. I'm down nearly 100 lbs and very pleased with the results.
  16. Another year has gone by and im still going strong. Ran an official half marathon this year and put up some PR lifting numbers as well. Ive hovered at the same weight now for the last 18months. 225-235 range depending on what im focusing on. I will be running my first ultra marathon in November. 33 mile trail run. Should be fun. Other then that, I continue to try to put good things in my body. I still have restriction and i still refuse to eat until im overly full. Got engaged this year and bought a house. Two things i dont really think would have happened if i never went through with this journey. Overall i am happy and healthy. Any questions feel free to ask!! Cheers to another year.
  17. Hello, I didn't have a revision but I choose Bypass due to already having severe GERD. My surgeon explained that it was very likely my GERD would remain the same if not worsen and that bypass would likely reduce or completely cure it. Almost 4 months out it seems to have CURED IT! I have had no signs of anything acid reflux/GERD related. I was on 2 prescriptions plus eating tums daily. I am off of ALL GERD medications and have not eaten a single tums since surgery. I am so pleased about that because it was miserable! As far as weight loss, I have lost 73 lbs since surgery in a little over 2.5 months. I am 6ft tall. Stats are on the side panel too if people set them up. Good luck- I hope your acid issues are resolved!
  18. I'm new to this app. I would love to meet new friends. I will be having surgery September 13. I would love to see before and after pictures. I will be having gastric bypass.

  19. I am in the states and can answer from my experience but it may be a bit different. I did not have a catheter. If they put a tube down my throat I was asleep cause I don’t remember it (I just had to breath with a little mask over my mouth a few times and I was out). And I was up walking around with a nurse in recovery. I haven’t noticed any additional gas. I did read about the possibility somewhere with bypass having more foul smelling gas but honestly I haven’t heard much about it even with bypass in my 16 months on here. Now constipation is another story. That’s an issue for almost everyone immediately post op.

    August Surgery Buddies!

Hello Everyone! My surgery date is August 9th. I had my first consult in November 2021 and my insurance needed 6 months of visits and those didn't start until the end of January! I am so ready! I'll be doing one week of OptiFast. I am a teacher so I'm working so hard getting everything in my labs prepared because I'll be taking off two weeks and coming back to work right at the end of the two weeks. That is what makes me the most nervous...going back to work too soon.
  21. Does anybody know if a class action law suit was ever filed against Slimband or the Doctor. I had my surgery done in November 2013 lost some weight by straving myself and waiting for my fills to finally hit my " Sweet Spot " that never happened. I quit straving myself and the weight I lost came back, band is useless, I never felt full. I just found this site out of looking in despair and many years of depression. So fed up of this useless thing inside of me and the problems it has created. If anybody knows anything any input would be appreciate. Thanks

    Sleeve to RnY Revision

I'm curious if you did the sleeve to RNY revision. If so, when? I had it done the day after Thanksgiving 2021. Reflux was gone immediately. I've lost 60 lbs. I lost it pretty quickly, I'm maintaining for over a month now. I was a little freaked out having problems with stopping the weight loss. I did the same thing with sleeve surgery in 2010. I can eat often, but very little at a time. I struggle with meat, an ounce is safe, maybe 1.25 oz, after that, it will end up 'sitting' between my ribs and 9 times out of 10 I'll have to throw up to get relief. Surgery was in Nov, then after a sonogram and endoscopy I had my gallbladder removed in March. (They also discovered a very large marginal ulcer. (What the heck is that?) I had to take a liquid medication 3xs a day and they did another endoscopy 6 weeks later. Ulcer went from very large to large. Six weeks later another endoscopy showed it was healed. Now I'm just focusing on trying to not lose more weight. Gaining 10 lbs would be fine. I'd like to stop there and maintain just under 150. How realistic is this, maintaining from now on. Sadly, sweets and some fried meats (catfish, chicken fried steak) are easy to keep down, mashed potatoes too. I have to weigh meat, and sometimes then it still gets to me. What's up with that? Any advice, insight etc would be greatly appreciated. Share you story with me if you've had the sleeve to bypass revision.

    ESG post diet

Hi. I had my ESG on June 15th. I agree with you, it doesn’t make sense and mine was for 21 days. At day 15th, I was doing great and added sugar free pudding, Greek yogurt and hummus. No issues. I’m now a day past week 4. My weight loss has slowed tremendously, but everyone or majority slow down or have a 2 to 3 week stall. But it’s still about the calorie deficit. I’ve started with weights but I know I need more cardio. With the liquid diet I was too exhausted but now I’ve added other soft foods and energy is coming back. Unlike sleeve or bypass, my doctor has released me to do any workouts. We don’t have the staples or stomach cuts.
  24. I am 5 weeks out from vsg to mini gastric bypass and I am only losing 1-2lb a week. It's soul destroying! I would like to lose 84lb in total, so far I've lost 11.5lb in 5 weeks post op. I feel I can eat a lot too which worries me.
  25. I had my bypass surgery on December 2 2021 and had set a goal to reach my goal weight by my birthday day on October 8th. I started at 290 goal weight is 160. And I have lost 114 lbs bringing down to 176. I have 16lbs to go in just under 3 months. But I'm nervous about the time line of reaching it on time. I had heard the last 15 are the hardest to loose. I'm worried I'm not going to get there in time. I haven't really had a stall or anything. I mean I can go back and forth on the weekends but usually by Monday or Tuesday I'm back to the same or less than Friday but that's it. I'm wondering if most people have issues with the last 15lbs. I also like to know if anyone didn't have a hard time Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
