Good to know I'm not alone. Pimples, red, inflamed, dry flaking skin.

I use forearm canes & a wheelchair for mobility. Is anyone else trying to achieve exercise/fitness needs pre/post surgery with these challenges? How? Suggestions? I am especially focused on reversing sagging skin after surgery.

How faded are your surgery scars?
Lillimint replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I appreciate the multiple pics. I had not anticipated getting plastic surgery. Not until a couple of weeks ago when my skin decided that it was going to run away and elope with gravity. I don’t find the scars bothersome or at all (on me or others), but I had no idea that there was so much to be done to make them fade. The whole thing is just fascinating. Skin is so weird. -
How faded are your surgery scars?
2Bsmaller18 replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am surprised how much the color faded. I had read that steroid injections wont help the red but will help flatten a scar. However it makes sense that if the skin is flattened out the the red color is over a larger surface area so it would then be lighter. It looks like it worked great for you and I bet it gets better over the next few months too. My scar looks puckered still like your middle picture so I am hopeful that it will smooth out eventually. Old scars are definitely thin lines or at least faded. I think I just didn't pay attention to how long it took to fade before and need to be more patient. -
How faded are your surgery scars?
2Bsmaller18 replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I went in for a follow up. The surgeon looked at the area on my stomach that had the steroid injection back in December he was surprised how it affected my skin. It's lighter and flat but my skin really thinned out so he said to wait another 3 months and come back and then if needed he would dilute the steroid and do the red areas. This would be to treat the original surgical scars that would then be 15 months old. -
Facial Hair
butterisnotacarb replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't have a lot of all over facial hair but I do get them under my chin like crazy and have one or two random super long hairs in my cheek area. I'm almost 40. My mom gets the single long hair too so it's genetic I'm sure. I finally got fed up and decided to dermaplane. I do it myself with an eyebrow razor called Tinkle you can buy cheap on Amazon. There's a few great YT videos with 1 million+ views that show how to do it. No shaving cream, just damp skin. Never looked back. It also is a great way to exfoliate. RNY because of GERD, not weight loss?
estudley replied to AmandaQB's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had surgery 6 months ago (8/24/2020), due to GERD and what the surgeon refered to as a huge hiatal hernia. The acid had eroded by throat so badly that I could not physically swallow some days. Nothing was working, max doses of both Omeprazole and Famotidine as well as swigging Malox nightly and still having break through acid, I also required a muscle relaxant to allow me to eat. Gastric bypass was my last resort (and actually started out as kind of a joke -"remove my stomach and the acid will stop") Until a surgeon told me that thay might be the ultimate solution for my problem. While getting use to this new way of life has been difficult at the beginnig. There were many day I cried "why did I do this" it is a vast improvement from the possibility of worsing dysphsia and esophageal cancer. I no longer require any medication, have not had any reflux at all and while the quantity is greatly deminished I can eat almost anything I want. The bonus is i no longer require BP medication and the weight loss of course. 80lbs down and I feel better in my own skin, as well as being healthier and happier. -
I'm so looking forward to this skin removal surgery. May I ask you how much weight you lost? I'm down 238 pounds

I'm becoming more and more comfortable in my skin I can bend over and tie my shoes. My reflection in a mirror isn't shocking in a bad way anymore. Clothes are fitting better and better. Pecker is back. I'm lifting weights again I fit my motorcycle better. I feel pretty damn good. -
Do any of you wonder if your stomach is too small or too big?
Wild13 replied to Tim C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So.... I have had this question and I’m actually afraid because I had surgery a month ago I lost 20 lbs but I am able to eat a burger( no bun, no lettuces) I’m able to eat good portions and I only struggle with certain foods. Don’t get me wrong I’m drinking my shake and keeping a count I don’t go above 600 calories per day except on the burger day or the day I had grilled chiken with beans and peppers ( my version of tacos ) lol but yea I am totally afraid that my stomach is too big and it was for nothing although I’m loosing weight my friends who did it say they couldn’t hold any food down and were on straight shakes for like 3 months -
Yes, I did in January. I had a tummy tuck, breast lift & augmentation and an arm lift. There was some pain post op, but only the first few days were rough. Yes, I have scars. They’ll fade over time and I’d take them any day over the loose flappy skin.

Creekimp13 replied to mamabear_2_2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This one is kinda messed up and I have mixed feelings about it. Strangers treat you better. Isn't that sad? But it's true. Men hold the door, say hello, run over to help you do things. I was loading giant bricks of bottled water into my car trunk the other day and some random dude jogged over and asked to help. Same dude would have NEVER helped me when I weighed 270...and when I was 270 I needed the help a hell of a lot more than I do now. But there he was...Mr. White Knight, slaying my Ice Mountain Spring Water, talking to my boobs. LOL. You really do forget that crap like that used to happen....until it happens again and it strikes you as ridiculous. Medical staff do listen better. Customer service is better if you have a question or need something anywhere you go. It says something very icky about the world....when being just a little more attractive....gives you agency and priority. Bleh! But on a happier note! I love being able to try on tall boots and zipping them right up without having to look for "wide calf" Being able to sit in booths in restaurants without squishing myself in there with a shoe horn. Oh, and being able to get out of them helps, too. LOL Here's a weird one. I take a certain pleasure in throwing half my meal away. This probably sounds awful, too, (because it's wasteful and I do try to take leftovers home when possible) but there's a freedom in it. There's a freedom in honestly not feeling obligated to order fries because I'm stopping at McDonald's. LOL. Who knew you could just order Coffee and be happy with that? I like feeling like I control food and not the other way around. That's an amazing feeling. Like that first time I found one of my husband's candy bars...and instead of eating it secretly in the bathroom, I put it on a plate, sliced it up into a million little slices, had a couple, and left most of it on the counter....and actually felt good about that. Like, that felt normal...my new normal. That's a great feeling. No denial. No binge. Just....I'm gonna have a bite or two and leave it because I can and I want to. That's new...and it's freedom. Another odd one. Feeling like I deserve pretty underwear. Never wanted to be seen naked or near naked...so bought cheapo ugly utilitarian undewear. Now, I get a certain twisted pleasure out of getting the super pretty more expensive stuff...cause even though my body isn't remotely without flaws or extra skin or scars and stuff...I feel like it's not that bad. I want the jewel tone pretty stuff now. My underwear drawer cracks me up and makes me feel weirdly pretty. Some very cool stuff in there! Being able to shave my legs and trim and paint my toenails effortlessly. NO MORE HEMORRHOIDS! Woohoo!!!! Things are looking (and feeling) brand new in that particular area. TMI, I know...but it's a truly wonderful thing to have fixed:) -
Hi I had gastric bypass 16 years ago and the last few years I started to regain my weight back . I am 5’9 with 275 pounds now🥲 Going for a revision on the 22 but I have no idea if I can do it again or if there is something else the doctor can to help me loose the weight again. gastric by pass to another gastric bypass is possible? Anyone here did that?

2 Months, 50lbs, Image issues?
Christina J. replied to CapK's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I work with clothing and let me tell you all sizes are not created equal. Lay the pants that are loose on top of the other ones and see if they are actually the same width. Different brands, different styles will fit differently. I can completely understand your frustration! I am down 40 lbs and some things fit looser but other things fit relatively the same and I am noticing losses in weird spots like the side boob chub. Taking photos has been a huge help but I would recommend taking them every couple of weeks or you will start to overanalyze them and make sure you are wearing the same thing each time. I have a swimsuit for mine but I also have a dress I have always wanted to fit into...these last times I can't see the difference in the swimsuit but I can see the difference in the dress because now I can actually zip it up some. -
HELP!!! Did your Incision hurt for over a week?
Christina J. replied to Believe2021's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some serious issues with this especially on my dominant side. I started wearing a stretchy surgical binder around my abdomen and it helped immensely! It's not a waist trainer it is a surgical one so it has air vents and allows my skin to breathe. Within a couple of days the pain had greatly subsided. I got it on Amazon. -
Has anybody had the skin removal surgery and if so what kind of pain management did your doctor use? Cannot use narcotics

I am an addict about a year sober and I am looking to have the skin removal surgery. Has anyone else not been able to take narcotics yet at the surgery?

Day by Day - Harder than Actual Battle
tb03830 replied to tb03830's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told that stalling is normal and you need to keep to your diet that is normal. Changing it is bad idea and I would run it by your doctor. What Your body is saying is I am starving and I am not going to loose weight any more unless I keep starving. If you stay on the same diet then you will keep starving and that is called a diet. Stalling is normal and can last two or three weeks. If after two weeks you are still there go talk to your doctor first. I would not change your diet until you talk to your doctor. My stalls fortunately have been about 2 days at most so far but you are further ahead than me. -
Food Before and After Photos

Was planning on grilling some jerk pork for dinner tonite, but didn't realize it takes as many hours as it does! I've never done it on the grill before, only oven or instant pot which is way quicker. Sooooo am going to let the meat marinate another night and start grilling it tomorrow morning. Tonite was going to be the first time I broke out Mr.'s valentines day present he got me a few weeks ago: a super-cool food thermometer with a wireless transmitter. I think it was a subtle dig at my tendency to over cook stuff lol. (I haven't used it until now cuz I was intimidated by it, honestly) Anyhooo, since the jerk pork is moving to tomorrow's menu, and I had already psyched myself up to try out this toy, I decided to make some chicharron from the skin of the pork I was going to throw out anyway, using the thermometer to monitor the temp of the oil. O.M.G. I am in love with this thing. Only perfectly cooked food coming out of my kitchen from now on. Plus I like wearing the transmitter around my neck....lolololzzzz. Check out this perfectly crispy, crunchy goodness-ness (unless of course deep fried pork skin is not your thing, in which case, look away.) I ate 10 pieces (44g): 241 calories -
Caffeine on Pre-op Diet
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to Jnfinney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan never told us to cut out coffee or straws as a lot of plans do. They did tell us to try to limit it to no more than a couple of cups per day. I, on the other hand, didn't want it for the first couple of weeks. It was one of those things that just didn't feel good in my stomach. After a couple of weeks I was back to my usual 2-3 cups per day with no problem. Funny thing is when I had my arm surgery for skin removal 6 months ago I had to drink my coffee through straws because I couldn't bend my arms enough! I think you just have to listen to your body. -

Even with these cravings and periodic stuffing and sugars are you still loosing weight? I am pretty strong willed but do get weak some times and I worry that a single slip will set me back. Yes, I will be working out when I hit 250 Lbs which is soon. -
Loose Skin? Lap Band Success Stories?
CynthiaLuc replied to free.spirit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I am also new to this forum and live in NJ. I am much older than 25 🙂 and I am scheduled for lap band surgery next week. I don't have 100 pounds to lose, my goal is 60-70 pounds - I am not so concerned about loose skin, I am more concerned about my hair. I have seen people who have had gastric surgery and their hair always looks dead with no life. I am hoping the vitamins will help - has anyone had any hair issues? Vanity lives deep within:-) -
@Arabesque: can't even tell that the bodysuit is a different material. I like it. I would like to borrow the outfit when you are done please. As for the shoes, I reeeeeeeally like the ones on the right. Maybe just bring a piece of plywood to stand on?...Even if you did sink/faceplant, you'll look fab doing it 😂. And no, no Snoop Dogg wine for me....I am always wary of products marketed by slapping some celebrity or other on its label. @Kris77: have you ever considered Henna? I developed an allergy to conventional hair dye (its the PPD in it), and have been henna-ing for a few years now. Pros: all natural assists to improve follicle health gives the hair the appearance of more body (cuz the active ingredient actually binds to the hair making it moleculary thicker) hair feels softer is not as noticeable when it grows out (vs. seeing the obvious line of greys growing on darker hair), very inexpensive vs. the cost of real dyes and/or salon costs Cons: time consuming: I usually have it on my hair for like 4-6 hours on application day. you'll smell like a pot head for a couple days it stains skin if you don't wipe it off right away (I often have orange-ish palms for a couple days if I don't wear gloves) it only comes in red, lol. (the lighter your hair, the redder it will be) In the before pics below, I hadn't henna-ed my hair in over 8 or 9 months so its pretty grey, lol
