    The EVIL 3 WEEK STALL

Stalls SUCK. I have just finished a 3 week stall I *think*. It is so upsetting to eat so little and your body rebels. Your attitude is great. Don't let it get you down. It is ok to cry and whine about it I think. I have shed a few tears over it.
  2. Ok guys..... (Ive posted this on OH) but decided to post it here as well.... The inevitable happened. Got on the scale this morning, not only am I "stalled" I guess. I am up 3 LBS! LOL How the heck does that happen?? When you work out at least 4 days a week and consume less than 700 calories per day. I must add that I was sleeved on 9-15-09 and have lost 30 lbs, well, 27 since I gained 3 lbs back. I see posts about this ALL the time but gosh, until it happens to you.....you really dont know what it feels like! Also. TOM is usually between the 12th and 15th of the month, so that could be why im retaining.........This really sucks!!!! Just venting. Help, I knew it would happen, just didnt know how horrible I would feel when I did. Thanks for listening!:001_tongue:
  3. I am glad you came to talk about your feelings. I hope you stay around! All bodies are different. For example I lost a lot of weight right after surgery and now I am going on a 3 week stall. I was crying last night over it. Even my husband was like you will start to lose weight again, how can you not? You eat 4 oz of food! I promise hon it is going to happen. Your body has been through so much. Have faith and love yourself.

    Any other Canadians out there?

Hi Hottstuff, That is how I read the costs. Check out the complications area - you would probably find the side effects / bad experiences. VSG Complications Support Group - Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery (VSG) Forum I have been reading for the last 6 weeks or so. Everyone seems to have a few days here and there where they don't feel as well, and the 3 week stall that many experience. However, I haven't seen anyone who regrets having it done - even those that had surgical issues. I seem to recall Tiffyicans having had issues - but I'm not sure if it was because of the surgery, or other reasons. There is someone else that had a feeding tube - but again - not sure the details. You just have to read lots. Nancy

    Food issues, now in reverse.

Thanks Susan. The nutritionist did give me a meal plan. It has menus for up to 6 months out. It is just wayyyy too much food. I obviously could eat less and I am, and pureeing. I have a 32F but I can only eat 1.5 to 2 oz in an hour. I am then full for 4-5 hours. Even drinking sometimes is hard but sometimes it is fine after an hour. I just can't take in as much as the menu says for today: Breakfast: 1/2 cup low fat or fat free cottage cheese with blended peaches (forget the peaches, I can sqeeze down 4 oz of blended cottage cheese Snack: 8 oz skim or fat free milk (are you kidding me? I can't drink 8 oz of anything but Water in an hour, if I take too long it is lunch time!) Lunch: 4 oz tuna with 2 tbl avacado (drop the avacado, doubt I could eat all that tuna after so much milk) Snack: (More Snacks?) Protein suppliment shake made with 8 oz skim or fat free milk. (There goes dinner) Dinner: 4 oz Grilled talapia with mashed califlower (forget the califlower, I could eat maybe 2 oz if I actually finished the Protein Shake earlier) Vitamin time: My liquid nasty multi vitamin is 2 oz. There goes 2 oz of stomach space. Sometime in the morning I take my 2 oz of liquid Calcium. There goes 2 more ounces of stomach space. Somewhere in there I am supposed to be getting what 38 oz or so of water? What I am really doing today (most likely): Starbucks Vivano with an extra scoop of protein (This will hold me the whole day I think. It is the first time since surgery I have had one) It has taken me 3 hours to drink almost all of it, I have been alternating with water though and I am full) I have some leftover blended ham and swiss cheese from dinner last night, about 2 - 2.5 ounces. I will eat that about 1 and drink water after. I will drink a shake at about 3-4. I doubt I will finish it maybe 3/4 if I am good in 1.5 hours. Try dinner at 7 and nasty, horse hay tasting vitamins:thumbdown:. Maybe some blended chicken and cheddar, about 3 oz over an hour. You can see I am trying to get more calories. We will see how it goes. I have a therapy appointment on Monday because I do reconginize this is not "healthy" or "normal" thinking. I think I am begining the 3 week stall at 5 weeks because the scale has not moved in days also. That is adding to my anxiety and food issues.

Dumping Syndrome is "a good thing"!

Yes I revised. I had to get rid of the band and then I had the RNY. This occurred on August 25th. I seem to have hit the 3 week stall however and hope that the weight starts moving again. :bored:

    My Scale Won't Move, Help!

Two weeks is about right for the 3 week stall. I actually know people whose entire weight loss went in two week chunks. They'd lose for two weeks, then stall for two week and repeat. That would have driven me crazy! Whenever mine slowed down, I would look at my logs and there would always be something in there I could improve... drink more Water, consume more Protein, exercise more ... so I'd do that and it would pick back up again.
  8. Sounds like the 3 week stall. It happens around the time you start mushies (which tends to be around 3 weeks out) and can last for a few weeks. IMO, it's just Water weight masking your true weight loss. Something about moving from liquids to mushies seems to trigger it. Generally, drinking a lot of water helps but you probably can't drink a lot of water right now so, hence, the stall.

    March Exercise challenge

Afternoon Warriors! Been having a ball with my at-home rowing machine lately...I still walk every morning with DD and DDog. The rower kicked my butt the first couple of weeks, but I'm finding my stride now. I'm up from the base 20 minute workout to 30 minutes now - I add fast-paced music before and after (love my iPhone!) to keep the heart rate and calorie burn up. Started out covering barely 1000m, last night rowed 4413m in 30:17, with a 3:40 split time for 500m. I have progressed quite a bit - it made me wonder what the heck I was waiting for! And I've lost the 2 pounds I gained before my 3-week stall. I've been fighting to get rid of it and since my fill in mid-Feb, I've been logging my food and exercising more, and it is starting to pay off! Looking forward to more losses by the end of the month, and I'll be purchasing the 40 minute workout by the end of the month as well!:cursing:

Updating my journal - Got my 3rd fill on Friday (7/6/07), was raised to 3.5cc's and I now feel like I have less restriction than I did before. So weird. I called my dr. and they are scheduling me for an upper GI tomorrow. I hope everything is okay. I have lost another 2 lbs - weight now finally to 176! I've been on a 3 week stall maybe even 4 weeks. Still exercising, but have slacked this last week. Planning on doing my LBWO tonight. I'm also very nausiated right now. I went to the gym on Saturday morning, and was working out and thought I was going to barf on the elliptical machine. I'm not sure what is going on, very weird.

    January Bandsters???

Sue, I thought I was the only one having more hair loss than usual. Specifically, what test did they do that found out that B12 was the problem? My blood tests have shown low protein, and I have upped my supplements. I don't think they checked for B12 though. I went for my fourth fill today that brings me to a total of 2.0 cc. I have taken the slow and conservation route on fills. I wasn't sure I wanted another fill because I do have some problems if I eat too fast, and don't chew, chew, chew. But when I eat slow and chew really well, I can eat more than I should. My daughter is getting married in July, so I wanted to kick start my weight loss after a 3 week stall. We are going on a cruise too, so I don't want to overdo it. I hope this small increase in fill will help just a little without getting me stuck too much or pb'd. I come here to read your posts about once a week, and haven't posted myself because I didn't feel I had too much to contribute. Mostly everything has gone well. I hit my first plateau and am ready to lose more. If anyone wants to know - I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat! Terry
  14. I have around 100 lbs to lose and have lost 46.5 lbs in just 3 1/2 months. I am just rounding the corner where I have really good restriction where the weight will be coming off more consistently. I have had 2-3 week stalls in just this time period which is frustrating but I know it will eventually kick in again and it has. I am on my third fill and am getting great restriction and am feeling very confident in the rest coming off. My sister has had the band for just 3 months and she has lost 53 lbs. Just another example for you that if you work at it, you will succeed at this. Good luck in your journey!!!

    Low calorie protein powder

Well, I checked ExtraFoods (superstore) and Shoppers for that Beneprotein... but nothing. So I doubt we have it here (yet). I did see that Kiwi-strawberry stuff at ExtraFoods, but it was like $30 or 40! I was tempted though! I'm holding out for clear, tasteless stuff. Maybe I'll break down and order some from the states. I think I saw somewhere that sells samples.... hopefully I can try it out (isopure) before I buy. Buffie, I'm doing pretty good. I'm finally losing again, after a stupid 3 week stall. I am feeling super duper, and kinda like I could do with another fill, but I'll hold out as long as I can!
