Ladies, What Size Jeans Do You Wear?

@ Your transformation is amazing! One of my NSV's was to see "daylight" between my thighs. I see daylight in your picture!

    NSV shout outs

They never end, love the NSV. Yesterday ran into someone involved in one of my kids' activities I hadn't seen in two years, she didn't recognize me, she said-- oh we used to see your son all the time but he was never with you, who was that with him?

    NSV shout outs

When you buy a bathing suit and feel comfortable in your own skin. Wow just realized I have never been photographed in a bathing suit and felt ok about it enough to show others. NSV!
  4. DJmohr, Congratulations on your NSV. Honestly, I treasure these more than the number on the scales! Way to go- looking forward to hearing more of these from you and others on this journey. I am 12 weeks out from my VSG surgery and a slow loser ( but at 61 I didn't expect it to be an overnight thing anyway). Today since its in the 100 degree range in Dallas, I was scrounging through a box of old, pre-weight gain clothes for some shorts in a size 14 or 16. While looking I saw a dress I wore about 4 years ago, a size 12. Just on a lark I decided to try it on and to my amazement it fit , not even tight at all! I did a happy dance right then and there. Like you, I did this for health, but the improvement of self image is an important part of the recovery process and keeping the motivation in high gear. Although I wasn't seeing the weight loss everyone congratulated me on, today it finally registered. I'll second the Woot !
  5. The best NSV moment for me is realizing the skinny lady in the mirror is me, and men run to open doors for me.

    Finally....

I reached my goal today!!! 8 months, 17 days and 110 pounds lighter. I feel like a million dollars and the NSV's have been better than the weight loss! Everyone on here has helped more than you can imagine. Thanks to you all for your opinions, information, and support!!
  7. Congratulations on your great NSV and enjoy your new duds. But look out! You'll be surprised at how quickly you drop sizes as you near your goal.
  8. That is a great NSV!!! Congrats! I agree with all the others. You are such an inspiration and have been such a huge help on my already short journey!! Thank you!!
  9. I'm so happy for you djmohr! I constantly look for your threads and replies you give because you are so supportive and inspirational. Your positive comments on your nsv's are especially helpful when I'm here at 8 weeks post and battling foamies. COngratulations......I'm sure you look great and feel even better!

    June 2015 sleevers

Who knew jogging/running could give you so much adrenaline. 6.5 weeks post-op. From sleeping late, being lazy, eating in the closet and overeating to waking up early, feeling energized, eating healthier and to be able to 8 miles on the treadmill. 28lbs down. Sleeved 6/16/15 #NSV #sleevelife #lovinmysleeve #feelingGreat #Motivated #tearsofhappiness
  11. This weekend I had to go shopping. I was down to one pair of jeans and 5 tops that are literally beginning to hang on me. For my birthday I received a gift card to Victoria's Secret and some cash to buy clothes because my family knows I needed them badly. I wanted some new work out clothes, Lucky Jeans and a top or two. I never imagined that when I went to try on clothes that I would be able to fit into a size 12 or a large! When I started this journey I was a size 24 pants and a 26/28 top! I still have about 30lbs I would like to lose so I am now even more excited about where I will end up. When I started on this journey I was looking for improved health, that was my main goal and it was a good one. It never dawned on me that I would even care about clothing size because I hated the way I used to look and could not even imagine myself being smaller. Well I definately achieved my better health goal and now I can actually see myself getting to a healthy weight and looking fabulous in clothes again. Woot woot!

  13. It is amazing how much our tastes do change! My taste for things seems to have normalized quite a bit. I've actually been a bit more hungry already ???? I'm at 86lbs so far yay!! I had to break out the old skinny clothes today! It was so nice knowing my $hit would fit lol... I had a NSV today, I crossed my legs while waiting for my pre-op nose job surgery visit. I didn't even have to think about it, I just did it like I've been doing forever. I don't even know what crossed my mind to even do it, as it's been years since that's happened naturally lol.. I hope everyone is still staying strong ❤️????
  14. I actually don't think the original post is detrimental to information seekers. The point of the forum is to hear multiple viewpoints. If reading this one post makes someone decide against surgery, they're probably not ready, otherwise they'd continue seeking. I also think it is just these kinds of posts that can stir the most interesting conversations. For me, it's made me think about: 1) What this process is like for a teenager or young adult. I've always thought "I wish I'd had this when I was 18." Now, I'm not so sure. As others have said, I'm not sure I would have been equipped then to be successful. 2) The downside of having surgery done far away from your home. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the Mexico option is out there. But I now think the ideal is insurance covers everyone, so you don't have to go out of country. I gotta think having your care team and support group nearby is a good thing. 3) I don't think even the best US providers are doing as good a job on follow-up psych care as they should. 4) Even though WLS has been around a while, patients and doctors are still "figuring things out." For example, there are new studies that suggest combining WLS with obesity drugs to improve results. Or a study suggesting treatment with growth hormone for six months post-op to prevent muscle loss. Or studies that indicate WLS does not impact depression. Conflicting studies about whether surgery leads to longer life for severely obese and/or those over 65. Or medical opinions that the BMI cutoff should be lowered to 30. There's just a lot we don't know about why this does and doesn't work. My point is, these bigger issue questions are interesting (to me) and are usually only stirred up by raw posts. I'm glad we can also get advice from each other on cheapest Vitamins and share NSVs. But I'm also glad people feel free to share real fear and pain and anger. And I hope that doesn't change.

    Taking off my fat suit

Had a busy day yesterday so didn't get chance to do my 9 week update. Things continue to be good :-) lost 6lb this week so that helps make up for the no loss while I Watson holiday! The greater thing tho is that I've managed to come back from a holiday and get back on plan, which is a big achievement for me and another sure sign the sleeve is a good decision for me :-) So I'm no in the 16's and started in the 20's (stones). Love it!! Had another shopping splurge this week bought some gym gear which was equally as exciting as the dress I bought to wear to my besties 40th bday party at the end of August! Both of these are wonderful nsv's for me I just need to start using the gym gear now! I have s training session to get some tips on using kettle bells with a friend next week and then I can get started with that. I'm thinking of starting a few other classes too. I had a chat with my mum this week, she was just generally asking how I am feeling and coping, I said to her I honestly haven't had a minute of regret and feel better physically and emotionally than I ever have. It truly is the best decision I ever made :-)

    Several NSVs in one day!

Wow, that was like hitting the trifecta lottery of NSV's! Congrats!
  17. There are no little NSVs. They are all hugely important and I'm glad you shared this one with us..
  18. Well, folks, I stepped way WAY out of my comfort zone and treated my body to a massage yesterday. Wow! What a wonderful experience. Poor body image and embarrassment fused with shame had stopped me before surgery. Although I'm only down 30-some pounds, I decided to break with old patterns and give it a try. It was rejuvenating and relaxing. Everything I hoped. I've already booked my next on for mid-September.
  19. They look really nice and sell in the UK too whohoooo. Well done with the NSV!!! Kate
  20. So I buy Enell sports bras. They are expensive, but the girls are firmly planted in them. I realized that the bra I had prior to surgery was now to big (I noticed more jiggle). They size between 0 and 8, and sizes 6-8 cost extra (like any thing plus size..ugg) and only comes in boring colors. I was able to downsize from a size 7 bra too a size 4, and got a cutesy color too, with no upcharge! Seems so minor but this really made my day. Can't wait for my run in the morning!!

    HUGE step for me (NSV)

Paige Dukes, I loved reading your post about the new picture (Wow ! You're brave !), but the part that struck me the most was "I didnt wear shorts in public and didn't even leave the house without a cardigan, regardless of the temperature. " That comment was me to a T ! I was very uncomfortable with my body, especially my belly. Always had a cardigan or lite jacket to cover it up. I didn't even like walking out to the mailbox in case a car went by. Now ? Totally. Different. Occasionally knee length shorts, capris or slim jeans, and a nice t shirt. Almost flat stomach . No cardigan needed, although I still love /wear them when necessary. I hope everything continues to go well for you, many more NSV's coming your way ! Congratulations again !!

    HUGE step for me (NSV)

My whole life is one big NSV. My most recent one was this trip to London I took. Three years ago I never thought I'd get there and it's a place I've wanted to visit since I was a young woman. Everything about it was a NSV from biking through the royal parks to walking all over the city. NSVs can also be very small and/or intimate such as a throwaway comment I got from a nurse at a recent check up. She put the exam table down so my legs wouldn't dangle. I'm a short lady..always have been but as a heavy short lady, no one said what the nurse said as she put the table lower. She laughed and said, let me lower this..you really are an itty-bitty thing, aren't you?' Itty-bitty. Never though I hear anyone describe me that way but these day, yes...I'm kinda itty-bitty.

    HUGE step for me (NSV)

NSV = Non scale victory, like when the scale doesn't move, but who cares because your pants are suddenly too loose ! Or some one notices your face is thinner ( one of my 1st NSV's) and ask you if you've lost weight, or you can do something that you could'nt do before WLS , like paint your own toes because your tummy has shrunk ! These things can keep you going when you have a stall and dont feel you're making any progress !
