Betty1971 replied to Betty1971's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I go back on November 9 for a follow up and Hopefully drain removal. I’m a picture nerd so he did take photos of the skin they removed. It’s pretty graphic but I think it’s super interesting. In the meantime I will just be praying the first poo goes well! -

Thank you for your suggestion. I have names of several endocrinologists. Issue is many are booked way ahead. I am having symptoms I am concerned about and hope I can get in to one that is a good one. So many are not good Do you know anyone that has Secondary hyperparathyroidism? I had the DS which is worse for issues I think. Especially since it is so long ago. My fatique and mental issues with it are concerning, and I have recently had huge stressor with my husband having heart bypass and aortic valve surgery October 3 and he just got transferred to cardiac rehab. He had serious issues post surgery and I had a hard time not internalizing all the pain , confusion, etc he has had. Thanks Jackie -
I'm against the grain here. My c-section was actually less painful than my bypass, but then again I was given pain medication after my c-section vs. Tylenol after my bypass.
-
I had two C-sections, both back in the day when you were seriously cut open. AND a hysterectomy, same way. This surgery for me, a piece of cake. Yes, I hurt-but I used the pain pills they gave me. But for me personally? not bad at all. I had the full blown bypass.

Bypass here, I eat fruit most days. I pair (pear ha, ha) it with a protein to prevent dumping, usually for only one meal a day (dumping worries). I like that fruit has vitamins, fiber, and water to make me feel very satiated.

kcuster83 replied to HotWing&APrayer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. I did. I lost about 170 around 8/9 years ago and had about 17 lbs of skin removed. Surprise surprise: Got fat again, fatter actually. Had bypass this year, it was a non issue. Recovery was easy peasy too. -

I’m having band to bypass revision in January. My band is 10 years old and has never been filled. If it was in good shape and in place/no erosion they can do it in one. If not, it’s a two step procedure. My fluoroscopy and endoscopy showed it’s in great shape and in place so it will be removed and bypass in one. I’m almost through my preop stuff, and hoping for a date in January after approval.

bypasser here. The first few months after surgery I pretty much stuck to a few berries that I tossed on top of my yogurt - but I eat all fruits now and have ever since I hit maintenance.

I had bypass but I eat fruit. Watermelon, apples and grapes mainly but I have had a few strawberries too. It is minimal but I have had these fruits from time to time. No issues.

Hey guys just a little backstory, I was sleeved 2017 and lost 100lbs but due to bad habits creeping in have regained most of it back 5 years now. I just had my consultation with the doctor and I’m getting revised to mini bypass. I’m excited and hoping to lose about 100lbs. Looking for others who may have gone through this revision.- 5 replies

GERD After Revision to Bypass and Linx
chasingpolaris321 replied to chasingpolaris321's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
From reading online, it sounds like bile comes from the liver and not acid in the stomach, so PPIs aren’t as effective at treating it and lifestyle and diet changes don’t really help as much. I actually just messaged my doctor to ask about the short roux limb as a possible cause, and will let you know what he says when he gets back to me. There is definitely some research online showing that that can be the cause, and that there’s a possible option of lengthening the roux limb as a way to resolve it. I don’t know enough about anatomy to know if that would be an option for me because my gastric bypass happened after I originally had sleeve surgery so I’m not sure if anatomically the lengthening would work. I’ll for sure report back once I learn more! -
Greetings, Going to celebrate out loud today! I have lost 100 lbs from my July 2021 highest recorded weight and all in PRE op!!! 85.8 Lbs in 2022! Damn, this has been hard. A lot of emotional and behavioral change went into this effort. A lot of re-education about nutrition and choices. A lot of forgiving myself for getting to this weight. A lot of healing. A lot of journaling. A lot of reminding myself that I am worth taking care of. It also has been easier than I thought. Once I gained the confidence that I could, I did. Yes, I have had doctor support and taking Ryselbus helped, but mostly this is me making true and long lasting change. I am comforted by the fact that if for some reason I could not have the sleeve surgery on November 3rd, 2022, I would still loose weight and feel better and my LIFE would be better. Everyone has this in them. Its a tough road, but we can all achieve better in our lives.

GERD After Revision to Bypass and Linx
chasingpolaris321 replied to chasingpolaris321's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Just a quick update, my endoscopy showed that I had a significant amount of bile reflux. I haven’t had my follow up appointment with him yet to talk more about it, but it sounds like bile reflux can happen when you have bypass and also when you have your gallbladder removed, so that might be what’s going on. I also have a hernia that needs to be repaired. I’ll post an update once I gave my follow-up with the doctor in early November. -
This Thursday is my six month follow up with the surgeon who did my bypass. Because my health plan refers out this will be the last time I see her, then my plan takes over. I'm at a loss on what to ask her. Are there any questions I should be asking her about at this point? Thanks

I'm a bit confused. Did you have revision, sleeve to bypass? You're showing marked as a sleeve patient and I recall you saying in another post a few days ago that you don't take vitamins, you just rely on a healthy diet to get your vitamins, which isn't recommended for bypassers. So the two posts are sort of contradictory, junk food vs healthy diet for vitamins. And also sleeve on your profile and now you're saying you got bypass two years ago. Can you clarify the details for us please? Thanks! -
Because intonation is hard to tell, I'm going to say what I'm going to say and it's out of concern for your wellbeing. If you suspect at all that you are dealing with potential cardiac issues, you need to seek emergency help right away. I don't know if you're asking on a reversal of a gastric bypass thread, if a reversal could help you with that, if it is unfortunately no one except a bariatric surgeon could help with that. And that should be one you see in person. I didn't give you the exact answers you wanted because unfortunately in the questions you brought up brought up different kind of questions that I think might take precedence. If you feel secure in your health status and just want vitamin input from a 10 year plus grad, you might be better served starting a new thread on this forum site to best suit your needs.
