There is no other alternative than surgery for loose skin in the abdomen area.

    I've gained weight...

I had only one problem area with loose skin with all my weight loss. The lower abdomen area and it's not going anywhere unless I have surgery to remove it.

    I've gained weight...

Very Impressive! Did you find that it helped to fill in loose skin?
  5. So this is a truly random one... my eyebags have gone. Like almost completely. I'm not sure if it's because I'm sleeping better, or because my face skin is "pulling" differently, and I really was not expecting that as an NSV, but I will 100% take it!
  6. I just got out of a month long stall. It was very unsettling but I just stuck with my plan and it did break. I too am a slow loser. I guess I would’ve preferred to lose it faster but I am 17 pounds from goal (13 from “normal” BMI) and still have no loose skin (possibly due to the slower loss) so try to think of it as a positive.

    Sex drive

This this this! Engaging the mind is the best way to kick-start your desire, even on a day by day basis. If you have a kink or two, explore some porn, or discover a new one. There are some fantastic sexual health toys on the market now for all genders, so doing a spot of shopping together is a fun way to build some excitement. If you're concerned about loose skin, buy a tight outfit that holds everything in but promises sexy times! And if you don't have a plug-in electric vibrator, get one.
  8. While I wouldn't call it "weird", as this topic asks (and I can't find a regular-NSV thread): My rosacea has gone! It literally vanished about six days out of hospital, and hasn't come back. My skin hasn't been this clear in a LONG time, and I can't recall the last time my face was the same colour as my neck. Was not expecting this bonus, as I have reactive skin, but I am thrilled.
  9. Looks like others have covered the essentials you need. The only thing I will add is not to stick up too much with post surgery foods and protein shakes especially because some of our tastes change post surgery especially with sweet things. I wouldn’t worry too much about excess skin. I was worried about it but so far I am 17 pounds from goal and I have none. This is the smallest I have been in years though so I’m thinking I may get some with the last few pounds. Most people on here say that even if they got a lot of excess skin that it’s still better than being overweight. And if it’s really bad it could be covered by insurance to get it removed.
  10. After two months of my surgery, I notice that I'm not loosing too much weight. Any feedback?

Took my 18 y.o. to their very first concert on 9/10/21 for an early birthday gift... went to see Between the Buried and me. Their all time favorite group.. (heavy metal). They just turned 18 this past weekend. We had a blast. I purchased this outfit from hot topic back in August. Its a Junior's XL. And by the time I got to wear it, it was a bit large on me. But over the 30 day exchange period. But that's OK. I did go back to HT and buy another cute skirt to wear to Badflower in a couple of weeks...a junior size L. I cannot wait for that show because the following morning s my skin removal surgery !!
  12. Who did you see? How long after your goal weight did you have surgery? I’m past goal (reached normal BMI at 6 months). Now down another 10 lbs. I feel like the excess skin is making me think I can’t just try to maintain.
  13. Let me start by saying that my husband met me when I was thin but he married me when I was heavy so I know he loves me no matter what. At the same time if I ask him he is honest about my size. Well I haven’t lost any weight on the scale for over a month now but I have been doing crunches because I have what I like to call a spare tire. Last night I asked my husband if my spare tire is getting better because I’ve been doing crunches for a while and he said it’s not quite a spare tire anymore and I said so is it more like a doughnut he said well not a doughnut either, maybe just tread. I thought it was funny and was glad to hear that even though I am not losing weight it is redistributing. I increased my crunches today to try and get rid of the tread but don’t want to get my hopes up too much. The NP already told me with the loose skin I probably will not have a six pack without surgery. But going from a full on belly to spare tire to donut to just tread is still HUGE. I’ll take it.

Agree with everyone. I feel like I am a slow loser but we will make it!! We are in this together. I have had two stalls already. I average about 2-3lbs. Sometimes 1 pound a week. I struggle with my water intake. Don't worry about what others are loosing focus on your end goal and following diet plan. Give yourself Grace. You got this!!

    Scar camouflage tattoos

I actually just recently found an artist near me that specializes in scar matching/correction. (He also does stretch marks 😀) I am considering them, but not sure if it's worth it as mine are barely visible tbh. And except for the small part that show in a bikini (which I wear a few times a year), the rest of them are only visible when I'm naked. Not sure if it's worth spending a couple thousand on correction. Might have to reevaluate when I get my arms done and see how those scars settle. Kristie - you're still not very far out from ps. My scars at 10 months were still pretty red/purple. But they continued to improve, and are still improving at nearly two years. Mine are mostly a thin white line. But the areas where my drains were are still a little pink/purple. So patience might be the most effective option right now ms.sss - The artist I found does work on dark and raised scars as well. First step is micro needling, to flatten them. Second step is tattooing with ink that matches your skin tone. He says it takes more sessions, and isn't quite as effective on hyperpigmentation vs. hypopigmentation but his pics still show a dramatic improvement

Incredible transformation and you should be beyond proud of yourself! Did you have skin removal surgery after your loss?
  18. I worried incessantly about excess skin. Given all the posts about it, I think a lot of people do. But after losing all of my excess weight (over 200 lbs), I can tell you that I'd take the loose skin any day over weighing almost 400 lbs again. ANY DAY! Besides, as the above poster said, that's a year or more down the road. AND...yours may or may not be that bad. MIne was "bad", as you can imagine, but it was easy to hide in clothes. AND...there's always the option of having it surgically removed if it really drives you nuts. I would focus on other things right now...

    Surgery scheduled for 11/1

Congratulations! I would make sure you have everything in your house that you need for the first week after surgery - protein drinks, vitamins, broth, etc. These are heavy and you won't be able to lift them right after surgery. Read your surgery center's directions CAREFULLY so make sure you have what you are allowed to eat. I would also clean your house, do your dishes and laundry before surgery because lifting and bending will be hard for about a week after surgery. Your surgery center will tell you what you need to stop (birth control pills, caffeine, carbonation, certain medications you may be taking, etc) and for how long. This should be in your packet, but if now, ask them and write it down. I found it very hard to remember everything. Don't worry about the excess skin. That may or may not be an issue for you, and that's probably a year or more down the road. Focus on the day by day of learning how to eat again. I'm three weeks out, and trust me, that is enough to think about!

    July 2021 Surgery People!

Hi Trishk01 i think everyone is different. I consumed myself with worrying if I was loosing weight as quickly as some.. then I realised we are all different. Our body is different, our start weights are different my surgeon advised me to aim for 50% of my excess weight by month 6. And as long as I was loosing a bit each week (minus any stalls) then I was doing good. Allow your body to do its job - also you don’t want it too quickly or risk issues with gall bladder. im 12 weeks tomorrow and I’ve lost 43lbs. My total target weight to loose is 70lbs. I’m averaging/seeing about 2-3lbs lost per week now which is a nice steady decrease. as long as your following plan, diet, protein and water - trust the process. 🥰 em
  21. Hi. I just found this forum. I'm starting my 2 week diet on the 18th of October, and I need advice on what to plan. I'm also struggling with knowing what needs to stop, when, and for how long. Also, concerned about the excess skin one the weight comes off. Thanks.

Yeah, damn pleats. Love them but … That’s a lovely skirt, @Sophie7713. Would be worth the ironing torture I think. Especially love the white nail polish too. How long will you be living in your temporary home & why a temporary residence? Are you building a new home or still looking for the perfect place for the three of you? Oh my injury was a battle between a mandolin & a sweet potato & my thumb lost. They had to graft my skin back on. Silly thing to do but so limiting cause it was my dominant hand. God bless must nieces who took me to the hospital, did my washing, washed my hair, did some cooking for me. Want to see a pxt of your new winter flats. These are my latest addition. Actually, that’s not true. There have been several other shoe purchases. Hello, my name is arabesque & I have a shoe addiction. 😉

    Zero pounds…

I too am lactose intolerant and love fish as my protein choice! I found I got less picky after surgery because my choices become more limited for a while. I used OWYN protein drink. There are more choices on Amazon. I did not use shakes except to taste until the pre-op diet. I lost 75 lbs before the pre-op sticking to eggs, and fish for protein. My dietitian has a range of protein for me to eat daily. Your dietitian will probably have that for you too. It was very hard for my to loose weight on the pre-op and post op liquid phase. My dietitian (sounds so bougie) fingered out there was too many carbs in the drinks for me to loose, even though I was 900 cal. or less. (Irish potato famine and Holocaust descendant). Each person is unique so it’s really a trial and error experiment to find what works with you. Having a professional who’s seen this before has helped me figure out what is sustainable. You can do this! Making mistakes just means you learned a new way to try instead.

Thank you for this. It’s a rare treat to read about it from a guys perspective… not that there’s any less valuable info on the women who have it but… well you get it. I’m thinking about it myself. I don’t have a ton of loose skin but I’d be way happier if the loose bag of fat I still have was gone. When I pull it up Im much happier with the appearance, and the saggy fupa is gone so bonus down “there” too. The only bad thing I have experienced is sometimes when I sleep skin will fold over and it feels like a blanket is trapped under me…. But it’s skin. So I doubt insurance will pay but I’m ready to make a second trip to Mexico where I had my sleeve in the first place. Not worried about pain, just the scars tbh. Thank you and I look forward to pics when/if you’re ready. Continued success my friend.
