Yes, most of them do the phone consults. Oh....wait for surgery!! Sorry....why I thought you were asking about how long between surgery and first fill is beyond me!! LOL. It varies....could be anywhere from 6-8 weeks as Mandi said or longer....it will vary I'm sure and is bound to increase as it becomes more and more popular. That is one of the queries you can ask during your consult.
  2. We have them at our local grocery store. If they don't have them, ask if they know where nearby. Check Craigslist: http://orlando.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=canning&srchType=A&minAsk=&maxAsk=
  3. Just thought I'd give you all an update on where I am with the LB book (since YOU are the ones here who talked me into this LOL). I'm hanging out my HELP WANTED sign to find a great Literary Agent. I'm proud and happy to say that after working on this letter and agents list the last month, the first batch of my query letters to Literary Agencies (to find a book Agent for the Lap-Band book) went out yesterday! ...Please let me know if you know anyone in the buisiness I could send my query to! Some days I get discouraged (and I want to spend more time here with all of you), but then I remember all those 'What's going on? My Doctor never told me there was a Bandster Hell!' posts and blogs that we all still see and I remember why I'm doing this. I was so nervous pressing that 'Send' button for the Query the first time...I was sitting there with my finger over the button and I was reminded of all those times writing one of my 'headband' blogs here on LBT and wondering if I should press 'publish' or not...and then I remembered how I was always glad I did. Most agencies say about 4 weeks wait for a reply. It's like sending out college applications and then waiting nervously.... Published or not, I'm glad I'm doing this and I want you all to know, I'm giving it my best! Game on!

George Bush: Worst American president in history

Two whales, Bill and Monica, were swimming off the coast of California. A whaling trawler suddenly appeared. Bill said to Monica, "Let's capsize that whaler". Monica protested, but bill explained how his parents had been killed by that very same whaler. Monica reluctantly agreed. "But how?" she queried. We'll dive below the ship and we will both give a strong blast of air from our blow-holes. So Bill and Monica, each took deep breaths and went below the whaler. They both blew as hard as they could and the ship capsized. The sailors all tried to swim to shore. Bill said, "Let's eat the sailors before they get to shore". Monica said, "No way, I didn't mind the Blow-Job, but I am not going to swallow the Seamen".:faint:

    Brief update.

@jconforti, I was looking for a location to find you. Your point on "Am I the only one" is well-taken and well-stated. May I share what, happened to me once? Often if I feel I have an insight, I do post. Thought that was fine until one day I answered a query, only to be put down because I was pre-surgical, apparently this person felt only post-surgical persons should be permitted to answer. My response had been gauged on life experiences which I had felt had equal validity. Didn't post for awhile, my "newbie" feelings were wounded, and until she went, inactive I never posted again where she was at. Just wanted to share this with you, and until I upgraded to Beta app, my "trendings" never told what forum things originated from so once or twice I did post way back in the GuysRoom by accident, but not anymore. I respect the boundaries now.

    Oldtimers thread

Java...your best avenue would be to post your query in the "General" thread of the site. You will reach a bigger audience there rather than in this specific thread on the canuck site. In fact I'm sure there are already several threads with regards to this issue ....use the search key and something will likely come up!

Post op regrets topics - not popular

Thank you! My plan is to keep fighting to get back to where I was Healthwise pre op in the first instance. Obviously now, I will have to manage the C Diff issue and it's complications. It is a tough infection to cure. The percentages on reoccurrence are quite worrying. Once all that is under control. I need to concentrate on slowing down the weightloss. I am still losing between 5 and 7 lbs a week and only getting in between 300 and 400 calories a day. I need to get my Vitamins, minerals, Iron and nutrient levels sorted out. Once all that is completed, and this could take months to achieve, I then need to get back to my pre op routine. Seeing family, friends, neighbours, attending church etc. It is heartbreaking to be isolated from your family due to illness. Now I have to worry about who I infect with C Diff. On visits, I need to be conscious about using people's loos etc. Beyond that, I plan to develop a good relationship with a GP that has enough knowledge to help me get back to health and to get away from the bariatric system. I may have to pay privately for this care. As I keep saying, I don't live in regret. I live in a fight for my life. I believe that I have had C Diff for nearly eight weeks now and the inflammation, blood and mucous presenting, makes me fear that this situation may become even more serious due to the neglect of the bariatric team in post op care. My GP believes the bariatric team should be dealing with me and the bariatric team wants the GP to do it. Meanwhile, I am in trouble. I live my life deep in my Faith. And because I do, I am told that there is a plan for my life. That plan appears to be perseverance with grace. Ultimately, I plan to consult an NHS healthcare advocate. I am going to ask that my case be looked over to ensure that I get better care and other people don't have to go through all of this. If your query concerns my dislike of my sleeve, I accepted the ultimate responsibility for my mistake weeks ago. We all make mistakes. I made the decision in error. There is no point in dwelling on this as it is irreversible. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App At 2 or 3 mos out, I was eating the same amount of calories and losing the same amount. I didn't have complications. I'm just saying that you're not any different in that area. My calorie rec was between 300 and 500 calories per day. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Banded on the 24th of May in Kent.

Hi, Congratulations on getting the band and your weight loss and welcome to the club. I had my surgery in November 2009 and live in London. I lost 7kgs in my first week also but I have found i slightly more difficult to get into a rhythm but I am still losing weight. Feel free to contact me if you have any queries or want to chat. RoniP

    Omg...i Gotta Stop Reading

Complications from surgery and the band are very low. There are several medical publications that can give you numbers on lap-band complication rates. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed is one example. Query "lapband complication rates" or similar terms.
  11. I like to say "Thank you- I'm just eating healthy and exercising." Which is true! If they query further I will tell them "lots of low fat protien and good carbs". Because if you say high protien/low carbs it usually leads to an Atkins diet debate...no thanks : )

  13. I LOVE MAIN COONS!!! THEY ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAV BREED OF CAT. I've never had the honor of actually owning one but will one day. I love all animals but cats are my #1. I have two from the past that I still miss to this day. One calico persian we got from the humane society when she was about 4 months old, we had to put down when she was around 12 or 13. HORRID. I'm the one that had to take her in, thinking she had FIP only to find out she had a tummy tumor and hadn't been eating or anything else. My 1st actual furchild was my beautiful baby Peaches. My mom used to breed himalayan persian (sorry had to google to spell right) and I had peach from the v. beginning. He was a cream point and the love of my life. I had to put him down last year... he was 15 and it was absolutely THE hardest f'in thing I have EVER had to do. Even though he was really sick i still doubted myself as to whether or not I did the right thing. WHICH.. brings me to my next topic that I will ask opinions... ok, at the time Peach died, I wanted to have him creamated, but couldn't afford it so, some close friends of mine owned 5 acres 4 of which were wooded and we would have outdoor circle and stuff for holidays.. very special place, so, since I rented, and couldn't think where to place him, called them and they said bring him out. I gathered herbs from my balcony garden, bought yards of special fleece material to wrap him in, bought some cedar planks, found two huge slabs of rock and away we went. I put a faery statue on the top (should have glued it but didn't). To make a long story short... it was a beautiful spot. 2 months later.. the land owners went through a NASTY divorce. He ended up with the land and has now decided to sell. OH MY GOD> Well, here is my query. My DH has family land in Scottsville KY..32 acres to be exact, that will be ours.. wooded, hilly has a creek. His mom found out about peach the day after and said.. bring him here. Well we had already buried him so it was no big. Well now SWEET DH has offered to move him. I want to.. BADLY... however, si that crazy? would y'all? I can't visit the site (I don't have kids.. I have FURchildren, so to me, this was like losing my child). I don't want him to be dug up by developers in a couple of years. The area is booming and they are buying up land like crazy. Even though DH has offered, I'd feel guilty to say YES YES>> PLEASE go dig up my baby and move him to a safe place, but feel kind of guilty if I have him do it. It will be 2 yrs in June so It won't be 'gross' for him.. plus I had him wrapped up pretty good and covered in herbs and stuff. What do y'all think? Am I crazy to want to move him? I do realize that no everyone is pet crazy. All my life, our animals have always been more than pets... they were family members, and even though I have two BEAUTIFUL girl cats now, they aren't my Peach. sorry this was so long. Thanks Tracy
  14. Hi All, I'm getting pretty nervous... my surgery is in less than two weeks and I have no one to talk about it really. My partner is the only one that knows and he's so supportive but probably not as interested in the finer details and concerns and querying I have on a daily basis, as the date approaches. So I do feel a little isolated having my concerns go unanswered. I recently had surgery (a week ago) to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed and I had a horrible time with pain relief. Nothing worked and I had to just ride it out. They had me on Tremadol, telling me to up my dosage and it did nothing except constipate me beyond belief. This worries me a lot coming up to what I know is going to a painful recovery and the possibility of being constipated as a reaction to pain medications as well as in pain is just a little too much to handle all on my own. Anyone have anything they can share with me, to try and alleviate some of my concerns?

    Change?

Its only a hot topic for about 40 or so vocal people. Just looking at r and r, the same people tend to post. Looking at the forum as a whole.. there are HUNDREDS who dont. And the more contraversial a thread is, the more that 40 people post to it and push it to the top. And 40 is an estimate.. lets not go crazy and ask for sql queries.
  16. ROFL...probably not. Actually, what I've found most interesting about this thread is how people look at this whole process. Not one person responded to my query as to whether they would bring KFC into their home *knowing* it was their partner's weakness and *knowing* that their partner was on a very low fat diet because of heart disease and a high risk of heart attack. I'm assuming they wouldn't because they care about their partner and want them around for a good long time. Based on many of the posts here, it seems many don't see this same connection between our obesity and our life span. Instead, it's something less and expecting our partner to support our new healthy lifestyle in order to prolong our life is seen as an unreasonably demanding 'whim'. Make no mistake...our lives are shortened by decades because of obesity and the health complications that arise from it. Let's not make it less than it is.

    Losing weight

Sorry - I should have added that I have an appointment for a fill under xray on 8th May. My query is really that I can't imagine eating much less after I have my fill as I don't eat vast amounts now. So how does having a fill make you lose more weight. Sorry maybe I am not explaining myself very well but I suppose what I really mean is - as I am not overeating at the moment or since surgery but I have stuck at the same weight for about 3 weeks so how does a fill change this.

    Vitamin Query

Post-op my dietician recommended Flintstones Complete to get my full nutritional supplement. I was only too happy to have childhood nostalgia and my daily necessary intake satisfied by a sugary, addictive little chew-able pill. Now? Not so much. I stopped taking the pills shaped like Bam Bam and Pebbles a month ago because they were just disgusting. But I've run into a road block and my hair is falling out to boot. When I tried switching to a regular (read=horse-pill) multi-Vitamin (Women's One a Day, etc...) I've gotten horribly, painfully sick. I think it's about the length of time it sits in my stomach pouch, like a control release pill. Does anyone have any suggestions on where/how to get either liquid form, or know of another chewable (non-foul) multi-vitamin?? Any advice appreciated!

    Hi from Ireland!

hi all i think we should all meet and try to get some answers to our queries. i have been on to consumer rights and they suggested us getting legal advice. i think we are just poking in the air as we have no idea what our rights as consumers of THE LAPBAND , for the moment we should deal with getting facts on our rights . i know there are some ladies that dont want people to know they are banded and we will overcome that somehow, but we have to be informed of our rights as consumers and i suggest that two or three people represent us going to free legal advice. i think we have to be united on this matter and not hide behind each other or push one or two people forward and let them take the fallout. we do this together. or just let each other look after themselves. looking forward to hearin everyones thoughts on this matter.wella123

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi All, Elsie, I have booked June 6th....fingers crossed! I have a few queries about my arrangements. (1)Do I need to fly out on the 6.50am 'red eye' flight... rather than the one arriving at 8.40 on the day before the op.?(the Dr. says I need to seee him at 9pm that eve. so I'm guessing I need to take the 'red eye') (2)Do I need to see the Dr. before I go home ,after spending the night in the hotel?....i'm again wondering if it would be better to book the morning flight home(10 am ish) or the evening one (around 9pm)? I would appreciate any advice on making these arrangements. Later,I will be asking about what I should and shouldn't take with me etc. Thanks everyone for all your help so far, Damienne:confused::wink2::confused:
  22. I'm sorry Telly....I can't resist responding to your query.... advice on how to "break in" a man? SIMPLE..... ...ride him long and hard and put him away wet! :embarassed:
  23. The Bob Mob!!! That is what the fan club can be called!! Tee hee. I am curious as to why my query about what is wrong with Subway was not answered on the post where Subway was touted as evil, but over on this thread. Christie--thanks for the nutritional info link. There are even more choices than I thought. Usually DH goes and picks it up for us. So I don't generally see the menu. Stacie--I find that each morning I have to reel my boobs back up into place...and mine are not that big. Gravity is cruel!

    January's Chat

Howdy folks! Another glorious day in NY - DONE! Yippee, that much closer to Saturday. Pat - Oh yeah, I am getting the vision... tight leather pants and a leather halter. Got any tattoos? Come on, we know you must have been a wild child at least once in your life... LOL! OK, OK, we'll stop. But it is just such an incongruous vision that it makes me laugh. I just can't imagine you dressing anything like that (without laughing) because it seems SOOOOO "not Pat". Good luck with the hiring thing. So many of the young folks these days just DON'T have any work ethic. And you just fee free to vent whenever you want to. That's why we are here. Paula - that add is just crazy-tacky - but boy would it get your attention on the freeway. Yikes! Too funny... Patty - Yay for Life Experience! I think they just mean because you actually HAVE kids, you are more likely to know when it's no big thing, and when you should call the ER. Besides, there is something comforting about a Mom that a 21 year old chickie cannot possibly duplicate - and that's what you need in a school nurse. Betty - GO MAVS!! I am such a "root for the home team" kind of gal. And I opted NOT to do the whole NYC downtown dinner thing tonight. I have big black circles under my eyes because I never sleep properly in a hotel, even a nice one. The downtown thing just seemed like too much. Eileenie - any ideas on things to do on Saturday? **IRA - We can always have coffee right here at the Pearl River Hilton...or I can come to you. I have the vehicle thing covered. You can reach me to make plans at 845-735-9000 - rm 201 Cindy - yesterday was some kind of a fluke on the internet thing. Today they queried me for my name and room number. $5/day for internet at the Pearl River Hilton. Of course, countless other hotels do offer free internet, so you can choose your hotel accordingly. Well, friends, I have to go and scrounge some dinner. hugs!
