So I was reading that we are not supposed to have sugar after surgery. Are they talking pastries and stuff cause I drink the chobani complete yogurts. Are those okay? They have a like 20g of protein and they taste so good

Yogurt and Chia parfait (blueberries hidden at the bottom) -
i agree with catwoman7. i get Chobani zero vanilla yogurt, chop up some strawberries, and add blueberries and that is like a delicious dessert. I occasionally will add some sugar free hersey chocolate chips with strawberries to my yogurt. Yum!

I use PBfit2 that's chocolate flavored. Very good with Greek yogurt. -
The Greek yogurt with ranch tasted pretty darn good to me (and I don’t even like Greek yogurt but love ranch) I found it a little thick to spread it out as a dressing, though. Anyone have ideas to thin it out.

Yogurt, cottage cheese and cream soups (as others have suggested) are all good at the pureed food stage, too!

Sugar Cravings - Please help!
BlondePatriotInCDA replied to BrandiBird's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're welcome! There are thousands of icreami protein recipes out there, so its always a new taste/flavor! Just keep in mind it takes 24 hours to make so you need to plan ahead and just keep it ahead of a craving. I also recommend the Greek yogurt bars, 13-16 grams of protein, no sugar added and the same calories as well..Greek yogurt! Good luck! -

Congratulations! Snacking is the thing I have to watch. But it's usually Greek yogurt with protein or the edamame dried beans. A little crunchy. But are a good snack. I'll gnaw on some turkey jerky. It takes a lot of chewing to get it down to where it's safe to swallow. -

I'll have to give this a try as well. When I have a sweet potato I usually get some Greek yogurt add some pepper and ranch seasoning. Never thought about blending cottage cheese. -

It does sound amazing, I may try to make one this weekend. I use PBfit chocolate every time I eat greek yogurt. Surprised I haven't burned out on it yet. -

I have found a love for PB2 and chocolate PB2 in my Greek yogurt thanks to @NickelChip. It’s wonderful when I “need” a dessert! Oh and @RonHall908 again you look awesome! Keep up the great work! -
For smoothies I started with milk, added Greek yogurt or 0% flavoured yogurt. Some yogurts have lots more protein in than others. Fruit and some low sugar peanut butter. I never had any protein shakes.

Modified Duodenal Switch
ShoppGirl replied to Lara in Arkansas's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I’m trying my best to mimic what I will be eating post surgery and today I logged my food and just mostly paid attention to carbs and protein. I logged but otherwise ignored the fat for now since I thought she was wrong. In the morning I had a protein shake with coffee. For lunch I had two scrambled eggs with Turkey sausage, morning Snack was a dannon light and fit yogurt, dinner was taco salad with pepper, onion, 1/3 cup cheese, 1/4 avacado and 4 oz lean taco meat. Then a chobani flip yogurt for snack which is the worst thing of the day because of that little bit of chocolate and peanut butter I guess. Anyways i added that to be 61g carbs (23 was that yogurt), 54.4g fat, and 105.5g protein. I am thinking I was close. Maybe adding a little more healthy fat such as more avocado or cheese or cooking with olive oil instead of pam spray and then switching out that evening yogurt with a lower carb one and I would’ve been pretty close to you. I realize as I’m going over this that I’m going to have to tweak this quite a bit for a smaller pouch if my surgeon re-sleeves me which I hope he does. This is going to take some time to figure out. Thank you so much for all of your help. -
Not losing weight
JadeMonk80 replied to JadeMonk80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks I’m drinking my liquids, and eating all low carb, high protein food (limited to soft proteins, so chicken, yogurt, etc). I think since I’m not eating veggies right now, I don’t have regular bowel movements ( or as usual as before). -

The minimum liquid intake was 48oz, and now, a week later, they tell me to try to go for 64oz. lol But they say half the liquid can be from protein shake, the rest clear liquid. I tried yogurt and it’s ok, it’s hard to eat. It supposed to be 1-2 oz of “food.” I get full with 2 spoons of yogurt. I tried cheese today and that’s a no go. I feel like I’m going to choke. Cream of wheat has been good because it’s liquidy, but then it’s high in carbs, so idk if it’s worth eating lol I too could not sleep at the hospital. Every angle hurt, and the machines kept beeping, and the nurses kept coming in to check my sugar, blood pressure etc. -

Day 2 post op gastric bypass. Staying hydrated and living on yogurt. Now i have diarrhea…so hydration is gonna be tough. On the plus side all the pressure i was feeling is gone. Nurse said i need more protein and it will help the diarrhea. Anyone else have this issue postop? -
Its frustrating as i dont eat that much during day, i have a slim fast bar for breakfast & a coffee, protein shake for lunch & usually some grapes or strawberries, dinner is usually a calorie controlled ready meal or meat or chicken. Followed by a fat free yogurt x

It sounds like you are doing pretty well! I'm on day 3 and not a happy camper today. I feel weak and a bit faint. For a snack, I had some allowed yogurt and PBfit in it. Best yogurt I've had in my life! lol. I'm so so lucky I only have to do this for 10 days. -
700 calories is not enough but that is easy to fix. Check in with your dietician for suggestions. Add a protein bar and a few nuts over the day or even a tube of yogurt. Small snacks.

Thank you lovely! I think it is an irrational fear also that the pre-op diet hasn't worked and my liver won't have shrunk enough 😂 Which I know is entirely silly, as the only thing I have 'cheated' and had is an actimel vitamin yogurt drink worth 74 kcals 😂 -
Go to dessert or sugary protein snacks
catwoman7 replied to Rose perez's topic in Fitness & Exercise
one of my favorite desserts is to get some vanilla Greek yogurt (Chobani makes a 60 calorie one - and Light and Fit aren't much more than that), stir in some unsweetened cocoa powder, and then add a dollop of sugar free Cool Whip and a few raspberries. -
I eat Yasso bars.. I highly recommend them. They're Greek yogurt, decent protein and have 100 calories and taste just like ice cream - mint chip and fudge brownie are delicious. I also have a iCreami and make "ice cream" protein shakes. But if all else fails - fudgcicles at 40 calories low sugar.

If you are in the US, look for the brand two good yogurt- it is amazing yogurt, I eat half a container with a spoonful of peanut butter (Im in maintenance) for my breakfast some days— its delicious an very low sugar (2g in a container).

yep - the others are correct. It's the added sugar that they want you to avoid (or really limit). Most of the sugar in yogurt (unless it's got added sugar in it because of the flavorings) is lactose, which is naturally occurring in milk. I eat yogurt every day and have since my surgery nine years ago. I eat very little meat, so having Greek yogurt for breakfast starts my day off with a good amount of protein.
