  1. Gallbladder is weight related up or down .in nursing school we learned the most common indicators for gallbladder problems were FAT,FEMALE, over FORTY eating FATTY FRIED FOODS. If u were at least 3 of these things u probably were already having gallbladder problems before the weightloss started. As far as the bladder issue.I'm really sorry to hear that never heard of it as a weightloss problem ,more with child birth and old age.I started doing Kiegal exercises as soon as I read that. Also I don't think you have a case to sue cuz ur problems particularly gall bladder could have already been there and surfaced with the weight loss.but take care of yourself and I really hope the insurance covers u.

  2. Honestly I don't feel supported here at all only judged! I am a full time working mother of 4! I also go to school at night! The support groups are too far for me! I was hoping this one would help!

Why do u feel judged? I know exactly what u are going through.I was in the same situation as you I tried to eat a chicken wing on day 5 post op and paid dearly for it.I was in pain for the next day and a half.the advice people are giving is really good. All of us have dealt with this weight problem and went to this pretty extreme measure to get healthy and live. You can try what they are saying ( measure ur food, eat Protein, drink Water, see a Psycologist) or u can wallow in guilt and eat around ur band back to ur original wait.People may be a little tough but from what I can tell people are sincere and truly care about your success. the only thing they can do is offer you the things that they have tried.I know it's hard(chicken wing) but We all know U CAN DO IT !! My suggestion to u with ur busy schedule is to never be with out ur snack.pack up ur snack pack of Protein shakes Jello etc. and keep them with u at all times.even if ur in the middle of freeway traffic u can pull out something and eat it.Be blessed !!

  3. My first thought was that no wt loss was due to respiratory meds.take care of ur other issues and don't worry about the band.except make sure it's place correctly.after that just get ur other health in order.the lapband is a tool and will still be there when ur ready to use it.many times we see people's dormant health issues surface when they have one procedure other non related stuff starts to happen which may be the case with you.

  4. Hi I am a LVN in So California !! Newbie banded on 4/6/12 .Funny I just mentioned starting a thread for nurses but didn't think I would stay committed to moderate it.it's interesting that we know so much that we can actually sabotage ourselves.and that we have all had to teach patients/ family about proper diet and exercise but at least for me wasn't able to follow my own teaching .. I'm also on My fitness Pal my username is the same biggenuff. Please feel free to add me .Good luck everyone !!

  6. I sure could use some advice from you old pro's. I was banded in 2008' date=' never did well on the diet or lost much weight. Since January of this year (late bloomer I guess) have decided to finally kick myself into gear. I went to the doctor and now have 4 cc in my band after removing 2 cc due to overfilled complications. I have been logging all of my food on MFP, eating 1000 calories a day (per my doc's order) and have been at the gym for an hour 5-6 days a week. (Mostly eliptical and couch to 5K on the treadmill) ABSOLUTELY NO WEIGHT LOSS. I have yo-yo'd 4-5 pounds up and down but I cannot explain why it keeps coming back! I am not changing a thing to make it go and come back..I would appreciate any advice you can give. I am despirate to meet my goal of losing 80 pounds this year. Thanks[/quote']

I would say try to go back to post op diet 3-5 days liquids, Protein shakes, etc. then restart with eating Protein first then veggies then carb. Also the general rule is u need 1200 cal to loose weight so with all the exercise u may be in starvation mode and holding on to weight.I'm newly banded 4/6/12 but career dieter and nurse.:-)

  7. Awesome that you are starting ur journey!! I was banded 4/6/12 I am one week post op and on full liquids now.on my pre fast I was starving and I called in on day 3 asking if there was anything sled I can do.they told me if I was really hungry I can have a small serving of protein.so the rest. Of the days I took in my shakes sugar free pudding and Jello and look forward to my very tiny serving of chicken or fish every night.:-)

  8. Yes please breathe !! Inhaaale...exhaaaale......please focus on what u learned in your spiritual awakening.you can not change people's perception of you.you can only change you.Yes people treat fat people different but many fat people are not bitter or angry .I am known for being a happy Loving yet no nonsense person.and yes I think the no nonsense part did stem from bullying about my weight but because of my own spiritual journey I learned to love anyway.

And while we are on spiritual things.I've learned that you speak things into existence good or bad so with that said maybe stop saying you may loose ur job.Maybe start saying " I'm going to make it through this !! I will remain gainfully employed ! I will keep my insurance, i will have a successful surgery!! I will have peace of mind during this process ! "

I've been going through with my employer for 6 months I haven't worked but was in a situation where I could use up all my sick and vacation time.my last pay period eneded march 24the the HR person called me the day before my surgery telling me that I had no more time left and that my insurance premiums were paid for April from my last pay period in march but that I would be responsible for the total cost of my insurance ($1200) for May which will be due towards the end of April.long story short I was banded on April 6 I get my follow up appt tomorrow.I'm not sure how I will cover my first fill next month but I'm not worried I'm speaking into existance that it will be taken care of.

Banded 4/6/2012 20lbs lost from 2 week preop diet till today.

    Take care Be blessed !!

  9. After 3 days on my prep diet I dint really get too hungry but the first couple of days were hell .I was on all liquids .on day 3 I called and said I am really hungry there has got to be another way.then they said I can have 1 serving of Protein (chic breast) if I felt hungry after the shakes.I found that I could only eat 1/4of the breast .the rest of the time was easy I wasn't really hungry and rotated 1/4 lives of grilled fish and chicken the rest of the time.

    Banded 4/6/2012

From preop diet till today 20lbs down in 21 days.:-)

  10. Yet another nurse banded on 4/6.POD 7 feeling good .tolerating full liquids well.got extremely hungry POD 5.but otherwise ok.still soar at port site.stri strips just came off yesterday.

I didn't have a lot of the problems other people experience.no vomitting minimal nausea.the crazy L shoulder gas pain lasted only a few hours after surgery.any way good to see nurses (who know better) taking our life back.wonder if there is a banded nurses forum? I think there should be.

  11. Hi :)

I see you are at 7.75cc total. Given that' date=' I would say that you should not be eating much of anything LOL. I've been banded for 6 years, so I guess I am kind of an old foggie stogie now in LapBand Land. I do not worry about carbs, fats, calories, all that "dieter stuff". I just don't. I eat my Protein first and then vegetables or fruit. Protein is most important because it helps keep and build muscle and without that, you cannot burn fat. I eat a piece of raisin cinnamon toast and an egg or a Nestle instant Breakfast drink in the morning and I take my chewable Vitamins X 2 that I get at costco (the Kirkland brand). For lunch, which is a meal I usually have trouble getting down, I may have a little of a leftover from the night before or a salad. For dinner, I try to eat whatever everyone else is eating and the meat goes down first. I like to drink V-8 or fusion drinks to make sure I get my fruits and veggies. 64 ounces of liquid per day is about what I do.

If I spent all of my time counting everything that went into my mouth, it would pull me back into that success/failure rollercoaster that I was on before I was banded. The rules have changed since I was banded in 2006, but one thing has not~~I cannot eat enough of anything to hurt me when my band is tightened, so why waste your life counting everything.

I have lost over 100 pounds, had a child, gotten rid of my Type 2 Diabetes and all this has happened since I was banded. My band and I are quite close. My recommendation to you would be to just relax and let the band do it's job, which is, to stop you from overeating. Your job is to take your Vitamins, eat your protein and fruits and veggies any way you can tolerate them~~~juice, fresh, whatever. RELAX and it will happen!!![/quote']

BEST ADVICE I'VE READ ON HERE !! I'm 5 days banded still on liquids but will Also try to relax when I start eating.right now all I think about is how many grams of protein and carbs I'm taking in.
