What foods do you have to avoid with the Lapband?
ieducate2 replied to flgirl23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I’ve had trouble eating chicken, steak, shrimp, hot dogs, some leaf veggies and raw vegetables like carrots. I have a hard time chewing it well enough to digest. -
This is exactly where I am! I went in for an adjustment about 2 weeks ago. I try not to eat after 5:00 pm because I don't want to wake up choking. I probably need to go back to get a little removed but I am nervous about that - the last time I had some fluid removed I gained weight. I just want to be able to eat small portions without lunch being my last meal of the day. This is so frustrating!

Does Your Band Get Tighter A Few Days after Your Fill
ieducate2 replied to dmh102's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had several adjustments and each time it's a little different. The most recent adjustment effected my eating within 24 hour, which I absolutely love! -
Sorry it's By Nutrition Now, I got them From Whole Foods.
-
I take a chewable multivitamins and calcium.

Glad I saw this post! I've been working out consistently for the past three weeks, I have noticed my band seems tighter afterwards. Some days I have difficulty drinking my protein shake after a workout. I also have days when I can eat my regular dinner afterwards - I just figure this band has a mind of its own:-)

I had my sixth fill about 2 weeks ago. I feel as if he took some out. I can eat more and faster than I ate before I went in for an adjustment. I have little to no restriction depending on the time of day. I never had this happen before. I have an *** so I have to wait for my general doctor to put in another referral before I can go back to see him. I'm hoping to see him in the next couple of weeks. I feel as if I am dieting again...This is so frustrating!!

I know what you mean. I have a difficult time remembering when I am super hungry and as you mentioned when I'm out with friends. I can always tell if I'm going to have difficulty getting food down if I feel my liquid going down slowly. That's another reason I know I'm not as tight as I should be. I can actually drink my morning cup of coffee as soon as I get up . This has always been my sign after a fill - how long after I get up can I drink my coffee. I know weight loss is a journey but I don't want to stay in one place too long

I've had 6 fills in a size 10 band. I don't know how much is in there now. I wasn't getting fills regularly in the beginning because I was having a problem getting an appointment. The don't feel restriction everyday or at the same time each day. This last adjustment has me wondering did it get one. Haven't felt in restriction, yet.

Congratulations, keep up the good work!

What Ti Say To My Co Workers..
ieducate2 replied to CookiePuss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a personal choice. I've only shared with close family and close friends. When other people ask I simply say I have chosen to watch what I eat and I exercise...which are both true. -
For me, the surgery was just the beginning. The Lapland and adjustments help me control how much I eat but making the choice to eat the right thing is the hardest for me. I am learning to control what I eat and the adjustments help me with portion control.
-
Mine too is located in the left side. The only time I notice it is during and right after a fill.
-
I agree that there are days when it's a fight between my mind and the band but the band helps me make the decision to quit. There are days when I am full and it is because of the band!
-
I personally try to avoid bread especially after an adjustment. I can usually get down flour tortillas and thin crust pizza if I chew it well.

Has Anyone Else Encountered This?
ieducate2 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in two weeks ago for my yearly physical with my primary physician. She mentioned to me that my blood test showed that I may be anemic. So I went in last Friday to take another battery of tests so that we would know for sure. I had noticed some changes prior to going to the doctor which she said are common symptoms of anemia. I'm still waiting on her call with the results. Has anyone else experienced this since being banded? If so, what did your doctor recommend? -

What Are You Goals With The Lap Band?
ieducate2 replied to Sunshyne068's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I achieved my first goal...my knees no longer ache so I can workout. Second goal achieved..wear the clothes I have in my closet. My overall goal is to drop 6 dress sizes...I have dropped 3 so I'm on my way! I try to measure my success by inches and clothes. -
I was able to eat a small amount of tuna and sometimes grilled salmon.
-
I don't measure my food. How much I can eat varies from day to day for me. There are days I can only eat a little and days where I can eat a little more.

First Fill And Frustrated
ieducate2 replied to TracyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please know that everyone responds to adjustments differently. I've had four adjustments, I didn't feel real restriction until my third fill. I think I'm almost at the point they call the green zone. Hang in there! -
I got my 4th fill last Wednesday, since then I've noticed that I can't eat much if anything before 1 or 2 o'clock. I can get more food down the later it gets but I am concerned because I don't want to eat and go to bed. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what do you eat before bedtime that won't destroy you on the scale? Thanks!
