  1. Heather is right, they want the diet as normal as possible. Really, they want to make sure you aren't stressing about doing this or that properly. I myself have a protein shake in the morning before work and after my workout. You can have them whenever.

    Best Protein Shake, HELP!!!!

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/all/iso.html That's what I use and swear by. It's a little pricier than most Protein out there, but the taste makes it worth it. If you're actually going to continue to exercise and get your protein, taste is a pretty big factor. I mix mine with milk and a very small amount of dextrose.
  3. I found out I was borderline diabetic when getting my blood tests done prior to surgery, and a fatty liver. Both problems have been corrected through the weightloss.
  4. My money says that the guy was trying to get a reaction out of your husband. It's possible that your husband isn't one of his favorite people either, and that could be why he did it. As far as normal guys go, we'll make comments to each other about women we see, or that none of us are connected to. But never do we say anything about each others' girlfriends, wives, sisters, etc. Thinking about it, sure....but never saying it. It's complete disrespect towards your husband.

    Anyone dating again? Need advice

Wait until after you have sex. Call him a few days later, try to sound upset, and tell him that you both need to sit down and talk about something important. He'll be thrilled that you have the lapband, because he was hoping for anything but "I'm pregnant."

    Advice! I'm not losing weight!

Adrian, all I can really add is that you said it yourself. You feel you can do more. Whenever you're exercising, if you feel like you can do more, then you'd better do it. Don't just be satisfied with a preset goal. Push yourself.

    around the port area

I sometimes feel a cramp at the port area when I'm doing any cardio work

    Deflated look

The loose skin is going to happen whether you get the surgery or not as far as weight loss goes. Don't let that determine what you do.

    Failure

For me, it was a matter of wrapping my head around the fact that I don't have to eat a full blown whenever I'm hungry. Say you haven't eaten all day, and it's night....don't you just want to get a big meal and eat it all and enjoy it? We've all done that, I've done it way too many times in my life. The thing is with the band, even when you get that hungry, a small portion meal will fill you up just fine. You just have to give the band time to work its magic. If you eat your small portion meal relatively quickly, you can walk away and not feel full until around 15 minutes later. Don't just keep eating that huge meal until you're full. At that point, it's far too much and then the discomfort rears it's head. That was a huge, huge thing for me to figure out....despite the fact the doctor was hammering it into my head prior to the surgery. Take it easy on the carbs, which you are getting from the Pasta. Carbs and weight loss really don't like each other too much. And of course there is the whole exercise issue. Push hard, and often.

Why are you avoiding foods high in fiber?

    How often do you slime?

I've been banded for 9 months, I've only slimed once and that was my own fault. Now getting stuck, that happens quite more often.
  12. We think long and hard before we open our mouths. We know that anything we say can get us in trouble, even if we didn't mean anything by it. Is your husband overweight too? If so he doesn't sound too happy about you losing weight.

    Fat day...really?

I think that's pretty normal for all of us. Any kind of restriction I had before losing the weight, there's always something in the back of my mind asking "Is it enough?" I went on a trip recently to Disney World, and while I didn't worry about the seatbelts on the plane, I did worry about a certain ride if I would fit or not. I've heard about some people who used to have to almost walk sideways through doorways still do it once they've lost even 100lbs. I think it's a lot hard to change your mentality than it is to change your body.

    Setting a goal?

My first goal is at 230lbs, which will mark 100lbs lost. Second goal is at 199lbs just because it's under 200lbs. Main goal is 160lbs.
  15. You should exercise more. 30 minutes on the elliptical is fine enough, but 30 minutes of weight training really isn't very long. Make it an hour if you can, and you should consider going to the gym more than three times a day.

    Relationship trouble?

If both you and your partner were fat and inactive together, I have to imagine it won't go to well once you lose the weight. Everybody here has had that one moment where it all clicked, where we knew we had to make a life change. I mean yeah, when you're fat you know you need to lose weight, but we all know motivation is hard to come by. You've found your motivation, your husband probably hasn't. And another thing we all know is how annoying it is when other people tell us we should lose weight and get more active....we end up doing the exact opposite. Hopefully you can keep that in mind once you drop the weight if your husband has a hard time adjusting. Also, the same thing happens with 'fat friends'. I have one friend who is about 320-330lbs, and our main activity was hanging out at either of our houses, and going out to eat. Packing on the pounds together. Guess what? Now I barely see the guy. Turns out we don't have that much in common.
  17. It's going to be a lot harder for you just because your weight is so much lower than a lot of us here. I weight train and use the elliptical everyday, sometimes twice a day. I'm usually exercising or about two hours a day. I usually have a Protein shake for breakfast, a lean cuisine for lunch, and a very small dinner followed by a shake after the workout. It's definitely possible, you just have to want it enough. Even if you've done your exercising for the day, instead of watching tv for an hour at night, why not go out running? If you have the time, just keep exercising and the weight will come off.
  18. 30lbs is doable depending on how heavy you are to start with. The higher the weight, the easier it's going to be.
  19. Why aren't you listening to your doctor? You aren't losing what you expected, so let me ask you this: Did you expect you would follow the doctor's diet? Is this normal? No. After people have surgery they usually listen to their doctor's orders. But for some reason you've decided that that's no good for you.

1st fill and gym change! Oh boy!

It's funny you mention Disney World. When my parents invited me on a trip there with them, I really kicked my efforts into high gear in fear of not fitting on some of the rides.

    Saggy Skin

Saggy skin is a risk when any type of weightloss is involved, lapband or not. So it's either be fat the rest of your life, or be in good shape with the risk of some sagging skin.

    tattoos

I have a bunch of tattoos, and have no plans on getting anything done around my port area. What if the port flips, and you have to have surgery? There's going to be a huge incision right on your tattoo, and you know it will never be sewed up exact, and it'd look awful afterwards.

    too much too soon??

Eat the recommended food, and if you get hungry in between then you should drink a protein shake. I don't know how much protein the average premade shake has. I recommend buying a two pound tub of it and going from there. It will help with the hunger.

Any others around here into yoga?

I'm definitely going to try yoga once I lose the weight. Never done it though.
  25. asksdf

    too much too soon??

This is absurd. You just had surgery two weeks ago and you don't know what you should be healing from? So you're already not listening to your doctor and doing whatever you want. I'm guessing you weren't completely ready for the lapband.
