    Introduction to a New Me!

I am considering a revision from band to sleeve too. Never knew I could do that til the new surgeon mentioned it. What Dr/hospital will you use?
  2. Dr. Ninh T. Nguyen did my lapband surgery in January 2-11. I really am pleased with the surgery and the care I receive from him and his office staff. Connie
  3. I refused to pay a program fee also. The office my primary referred me to charged a 4,500 program fee that included cooking classes. I chose Dr. Nien T. Nguyen at UC Irvine in Orange. He partners with Dr. Kevin Reavis. I was banded on 1/12/11 and have had one fill. I am very happy with the surgeon and his office, staff, etc. The Hospital is 2 years old and very nice. Each appointment, I see the surgeon, the dietitian and the social worker. They cover all the bases without all the fees. They offer monthly support groups and presentations for free. Protein bar of choice

I still like Lindora's protein bars best. My favorite is the Chocolate Mint. Tastes like a thin mint cookie from the Girl Scouts. I also like the Peanut butter bars. You can get them at Lindora and some insurances give you a discount. They alson now sell them at Rite Aide stores. It's a great snack when you're "on the go".

  8. Hi Hautemama! going through posts today and when you said it was 85 degrees, I looked at your profile and saw you are in Tustin. I am in Fullerton and banded on 1/12/11. I feel great, have lost about 20 lbs and am just starting the puree'd type foods. How are you doing?

  9. How 'bout a new topic for January Bandsters. New Years-New You! I'm being banded Jan 12th at UCI in Orange, California. How about you?
  10. I have used Muscle Milk Light and Premier Protein shakes from costco or Sams Club. Both taste pretty good. I also like some of Lindora's Protein liquids (i.e. wildberry juice, broth, etc.)

    January Bandsters

I'm feeling better each day. Just have pain when I get up or down. Nothing really bad. I taped plastic over my incisions yesterday and had a quick shower. Boy did that feel good! Try not to worry, you'll be fine. I know its hard not to wonder if you're doing the right thing, but remember, its going to make you healthy and trim!!! Can we say,,,"New swimsuit this summer!"
  13. I had my surgery on 1/12/11, at UCI in Orange, CA. Dr. Nguyen was my surgeon. I arrived at 5:00 a.m. at the surgery desk. The hospital is brand new and beautiful. I went through admissions and then was taken to Pre-op to change and get my IV all hooked up. The chief Bariatric resident cam in to talk then the Anesthesia resident came in followed by the Anesthesia Attending and finally my Dr. This is a teaching hospital so there is always a group following the Drs. I told the anesthesiologist that I hadn't had prior problems with Anesthesia but that I am quite a light weight. He explained that he would give me something that would relax me and then we would go to the OR and I would scoot to the OR table. Weel, I kissed my hubby goodbye and they pulled my bed out of the cubicle and the next thing I remember was waking up in Post-Op in alot of pain. They quickly gave me pain meds and a morphine button and I felt much better quick. Very dry mouth. Eventually I was allowed ice chips and boy, they became my best friend. I was in the Post-Op a long time because they didn't have a room for me until late afternoon. Finally I was taken to a room and rested over night except for the vitals check every four hours and having to get up and go pee. I was released about 2:00 yesterday and cam home. Slept a straight 7 hours in my bed without waking but I dreamed alot. I had to get up and move to the recliner as the bed is too flat. I came home with pain meds but have only taken them a couple times. My pain is mainly when I get up and down. I'm going to rest today and try to to a bit more tomorrow. It's a weird feeling when liquid goes through your pipes. Also, I have alot of really weird noises going on in there.
  14. Hi Steph123,

My surgery went well. Have only three incisions, 2 by my belly button and one above. Pain meds work great. Came home this afternoon. I had no fill according to my Dr, but I don't feel hungry at all. They said I can have a full liquid diet, about 1 oz every half hour. So far, so good.

  16. I'm excited and a little scared. How about you. I'm having surgery at UCI in Orange, CA.

  17. Hi, I'm Connie. I'm in So. Cal too and getting banded on Wednesday, the 12th. Just 1-1/2 more days. On the liquid pre-op diet and tired of it. Tomorrow all clear liquid and the flush, ugh! I'm dreading that most. I'm excited and getting nervous too.
  18. I'm getting banded on 1-12-11. One more day of liquid pre-op diet and then clear liquids only. It's sounds like you may not be getting enough Protein if you're starving. My shakes are 27-30 gms of protein each. That keeps you from feeling hungry. I'm not sure the carnation shake has nearly the amount of protein. Did your Dr. give you any other options? Connie
  19. Not the 17th but the 12th!,,,Three more days!
  20. Not the 17th but the 12th!,,,Three more days!
  21. yes, I am excited. I know I will be nervous in the next few days. I saw your video. So cool! I am doing a 10 day liquid diet. Are you doing the same? Meal Replacement shakes and Soup. Yuck! Read the binder, bookmarked some wls recipe sites and made my list of things to take to the hospital. I have to stay over 1 night at UCI so I need to pack a bag. Nice to chat with you. Let's keep in touch as our procedures are just a couple days apart.
  22. Hi, I'm in Orange County, CA. I'm getting banded on the 12th and going back to work after the holiday on the 18th. I'm in education also.
