I lost 53 pounds and I have remained in a DD, but I went down to a 38 from a 42. My friend has begin to tell me I really need to get a new bra because the girls are sagging. Another friend told me they are starting to look like pancakes.

We are all cheaters and taking the easy way out
gotamakeachange replied to Ms Lady in NC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im of the mindset that I really dont care about what anyone else thinks regarding my decision to do what works for me to become healthy. As you said many people who were knocking the surgery before your weightloss are know wishing they were in your shoes. The most important thing is that you are happy with your decision and it is working for you. People are always going to have something to say, you just have to try not to put a lot of energy into being offended. If your friend decides to have the surgery just make sure you are front and center while she sees first hand how "easy" it is. You can have fun reminded her as she complains, that she took the "easy way out". -
In the last week I have gained almost 6 pounds and I am trying not to panic. There should be no way that I can gain that much weight with only 15% of my stomach. I do not count calories and I am not going to. My birthday is in two weeks and I wanted to be 170 pounds by my birthday, but I am going in the wrong direction. I am going to cut out all carbs, increase my Water intake, cut out all snacking and hopefully I will be able to lose what is now 10 pounds by April 29. I feel like I am going on a diet and I was hoping when I got this procedure that I would not have to diet anymore, but the reality is that I have a goal to get to and I am going to do everything I can to get to that goal.

Trying not to panic
gotamakeachange replied to gotamakeachange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I am a woman and of course I have thought of that, but no it is not time for my visit. I am also not ovulating, so I have no idea why I am gaining weight, but I would like for it to leave. -
I kind of like that idea MBrideman, I might do that, but I would choose something other than butterflies and I would wait until I was at goal and in the maintaince phase. I think that would be a great way to clear up "war wounds".

How soon were you allowed to go home after surgery?

Having a hard time finding hood tasting calcium..
gotamakeachange replied to Smof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found a chewable fruity calcium supplement at Target that also has vitamin D. It is Target's brand and it cost approximately $7.50. I like the taste and the price. I take one twice a day. -
Things people say...
gotamakeachange replied to BlueOctoberGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of times you have to truly ignore what the elderly may say. They are definitely a population that will say whatever comes to their minds as you witnessed that night. However do not feel bad or have second thoughts about telling her the truth. For all the people you have told it sounds as if she is the first negative person you have encountered. I have no problem telling anyone who ask me about my weightloss that I had WLS. I am proud that I was brave enough to finally take control of my life and my health. For the couple of rude people you may come across there are many more supportive people. Also dont forget this is your testimony and you may be helping other people by telling them how you have the sleeve and love it, those people are able to see how successful the procedure has been in improving your health. -

How lond did it take for you to get the surgery?
gotamakeachange replied to snowfie9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to the seminar mid September 2010 and I was sleeved December 20, 2010. As others have said it does depend on your insurance, I have BCBS PPO of Michigan. I did not have to go on a supervised diet nor did I have a waiting period. I was very lucky and I am so happy with my decision to go with the sleeve. -
Questions about the ACTUAL surgery.
gotamakeachange replied to snowfie9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The VSG does require a hospital stay, but I was only in the hospital over night, not two or three days. Regarding the length of the surgery time, my surgeon stated it would take the same amount of time as the lap band (I went into my consultation wanted the lapband also, until my doctor advised against it) so it will take approximately one hour. My surgeon however does not do same day surgery so there would have been a hospital stay for the lapband also. Both procedures are done laproscopically with the same amount of incisions. Good Luck, I absolutely love my sleeve. -

Hey Brad, I was sleeved by Dr. Kole on December 20, 2010. I am very happy with my experience and everything went perfect while I was in the hospital. I would definitely recommend St. John Weightloss to everyone. I do not have any complaints at all. I hope everything goes well for you and your sister. Congrats!

New To The Site! February Date Scheduled! Question!
gotamakeachange replied to Kya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 weeks out and I absolutely love my sleeve. I continue to be excited of what is to come. I feel good, people around me are noticing my weightloss and I notice in my clothes. If your medication is the size of a plain M&M you will be able to continue to take your medication whole. Regarding the comment from your husband, no he is not the only man to make the comment because it is a real concern. It may be true that you would never leave your husband due to your weightloss, however there are cases of woman who have. It is natural to be afraid of the unknown. This is a big life change for him too, I don't think he's being unsupportive he's being honest. Good Luck -
Do you have BCBS Insurance?
gotamakeachange replied to Diamond-n-the-rough's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS of MI PPO, they started covering the sleeve on November 1, 2010 and I was approved on November 8, 2010 within 24 hrs of my paperwork being submitted. No I did have to do a gastroscope, but I also didn't have a supervised diet. The insurance coverage is different state to state and job to job. Good Luck
