  1. Mamastwo...I am feeling exactly the same as you (except I am 10 months out) and I appreciate you posting this thread. Youtube has a lot of great vloggers who have videoed their experience and it is really inspirational as well as helpful. Also, myfitnesspal.com is a great site for tracking your calories and also has a great app for your phone if you have one that uses apps :) I wish you luck in your journey!

  2. Hi all,

I'm still around... though feeling a bit unmotivated and irritated with myself. I still do not have very much restriction. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...know I'm not always making the best food choices but my gosh I eat so much less than I used to and yet I've been at a stand still for 3 months! I go back to the dr. on Monday (guess no halloween candy for me...that's a good thing!) I have 4.5 cc's in my band and believe my dr. is going down to .25 cc's from now on :( Hopefully I will get there...it's a bit embarassing going in there and being the same! :(

Hope you all are doing well...and better than me! Planning on getting on here a bit more often...for some motivation.

    Take Care!

  3. Hi All,

Elle...I started taking Biotin a couple weeks ago and I'm not sure if it is that or the haircut I got but I definitely notice a difference. A lot less falling out. I'm thankful I had a lot to begin with but I'm not old enough to be going bald! My great grandmother did and that's a little scary :)

I had my 3rd fill yesterday. I haven't eaten yet so I'll let you know if it made a difference. I've only had coffee...well yesterday liquids but do they really count? LOL My dr. showed me the yellow green and red chart and asked where I was on the chart...if I was hungry between meals and could eat more at a time....I said YES...so he said then you need a fill ...I would've thought he could tell that by the small weight loss but I guess that's just me. I really like my surgeon...but I've come to the conclusion they are just a different breed (which I'd imagine they have to be to do what they do)

Anyhoo...I'm really hoping this one helped! I am at 4cc's now...

Well hope all are doing well. I'll check back in soon to see what's new :)

  4. Elle- Thank you so much for your advice. I have been journaling on myfitnesspal.com which is a handy little thing. After reading your post I looked back and was a bit amazed at the amount of carbs I have been eating! I have been concentrating on the 1200 cals a day and not really focusing on Protein or carbs (maybe why my hair is falling out like crazy!) I also am guilty, since banding, of not eating breakfast. I am tighter in the morning and am really not hungry until after 10 or so. I will have to keep an eye on both those things this week and see if I notice a difference. Sounds like your dr. is very similar to mine...although looks like you are doing great!

TexasMama- Good job on the exercising! Sounds like you are doing great with that. Glad you enjoyed your vacation...that's why we don't do them all the time or we'd all be 1,000 lbs :) They are meant to be enjoyed...and then back to reality. You are the one who got me back on the treadmill so keep it up...it helps me too LOL I have been going strong ever since you posted about it before. I hear you on the everyone is different and I know that but let me tell ya when you are looking around at what everyone is doing and see these great losses it is a bit discouraging...whether you are trying to lose 50 or 100 lbs we all want to see something!

Just PlainTired - Glad you are feeling better. I'm am so scared to throw up I saved my phenergan from after surgery. Sorry to hear about your port...will they have to fix it? My friend who got banded the same day as me says everytime she goes in they stick the needle in and then have to move it around to find her port. She says it's because her tummy is so 'fluffy' but I wonder if it is turned at a funky angle. Great job on the treadmill!!!

Alright...I must get things done and not spend all day on here. Hope everyone is doing great and comes by and posts...so inspiring and helpful! Have a great day!

  5. Korilynn...thank you so much for your reply. I really don't think overdoing the exercise is my problem but I like your idea about the incline and will definitely try that! I know a lot of it is eating for me. I'm not eating terribly but I don't always make the best choices. You're right I am not gaining...after my last fill I lost about 4 lbs and then I play with those 4 lbs each week. I did the same thing with my last fill. I go back next week and will talk to my dr. He does fills more based on what is working for the majority of his patients than a case by case basis. I really like my dr...so I may just have to put up with it until I get to the right restriction. I don't know if he does them under flouro...he never has before...I will talk with him more next week. Thanks again for your response...and may I say you may only be losing 2 lbs a week but you are doing great!!:)

  6. I'm here lurking around ...happy for everyone doing so well...but needing a big kick in the butt. I have lost barely anything compared to most of you and I'm frustrated...more with myself than anything. I really don't think I have any restriction. I would hope if I did I would notice...I can eat anything...I do have to keep it relatively slow but I could live pretty much like I was.:( I don't go back for another fill until the 27th and it will only be .5 cc. I see all these people saying they are following their diets but I don't have one...I am logging my calories and am walking on the treadmill 5 days a week...just started the couch to 5k (was inspired by YouTube vlogger newton4kt...if you haven't you should check out some of the vlogs on there) I know its what I'm eating ...ok so my question is what's working for you in the eating department?? Would love to hear some ideas!! Sorry to be a downer ...trying to find the positive in all this...like hey atleast I haven't gained ! :) hope you all are enjoying your summer!

  7. Just my two cents...I had it for a few months after I was first banded and now it has cleared up. Would get pimples in weird spots on my face like right in the middle of my cheek. My thinking was it was the surgery and all the medication they put in you...possibly also the weight loss. But for me it has cleared up and gone away...thank goodness! Felt like a teenager there for a while!

  9. Good to know I am not alone! Cindy...good place to keep one :) (tissue that is) I will now pay attention for a sign just before. It seems like the runny nose just happens...now I will be paying attention to exactly when it starts. I don't get the sick feeling when I over eat like many people talk about. Maybe that is because I'm only at 3.5 cc's?? I just feel really full...like I did before...bad part is I don't realize I am that full until a bit later and then it's too late. Hopefully being aware of the nose running will help. What I know happens is a big hiccup when I've eaten too much too fast. But that can happen just as easily at the beginning of the meal as the end of it.

I'm really trying to figure all this out...what I have found is that I'm not very good at paying attention to the way my body feels. It's a good thing to be working on! Thanks for your replies...would love to hear from others too!!

  10. Ok...I have noticed the past few months that I have a runny nose a lot. I read a post this evening from someone saying the way they knew they were full was a runny nose. I did a little searching on here and see some information about this but I am wondering .... are there more of us out there who suddenly feel like they have allergies that they never had before. Call me crazy but I've been thinking I needed to start taking allergy medicine and now I'm beginning to wonder if I am constantly over full?? Is this a common symptom? Would love to hear others input on this! It would sure answer a lot of questions! Thanks!

  11. man xaiver i wish my doc did fills like that!!!!

Me too...my Dr only gives 1cc at a time the first two times and after that the next is .5 then down again. I have 3.5cc's now...had some at banding...and get half a cc in two weeks. Not a lot of restriction going on here!

  12. Telling or not telling is definitely a personal choice. I didn't debate much myself as I really didn't want everyone watching my every move. I told most my family, my husband, and a close friend. My sister in law asks me all the time how much I've lost and while its fine it makes me glad I didn't share with everyone. I have shared with a couple people since having surgery and I'm fine with that. On the flip side the person who really got me going on the lapband has been extremely open about hers...even posting the whole experience on Facebook. I'm very thankful to her for that but it is just not me. I wish anyone the best of luck in their journey...this is YOUR journey so do what is best for you!! :)

  14. Hi there,

I've been banded since Feb. 25th and am doing ok. Weight is coming off VERY slowly. I know I've seen it on here before but can't seem to find it now...for the successful bandsters out there...what is working for you? What things do you do that you find make you successful? Any tips would be great! Thanks :)

  15. Well I got my second fill yesterday and I believe I actually have restriction...wooohooo! I couldn't eat anything but liquids yesterday and so today I ate normally and noticed a big difference. Yeah! Before I could eat a good sized meal before I got full. My dr. has told me I don't need to measure my food...but I was beginning to think I needed to because if I eat too fast I get so full and that is a yucky feeling. Now I feel full much sooner.

Korilynn my dr. isn't real instructive about eating either. He is very good about explaining what he's doing and why things are happening the way they are but as far as eating he has really given me no directive other than to eat slowly and chew a lot. He's never said what not to eat only that some things will bother me more than others. I read so many people's posts on here and get a little confused. I do feel guilty when I am eating things I shouldn't be...but it's a process and I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I would like to live my life normally without being a crazy diet person...which will probably make my weightloss a little slower but I am ok with that. I am really trying to make good choices when cooking, stay away from sugar and watch the junk food. But I also realize that I am a busy working mother of two who will sometimes eat fast food. We will make it...I didn't go through this surgery for nothing! LOL No guilt!!

  16. Elle my hair has been falling out too...I thought it wasn't going to but the past few weeks I have been seeing a lot of it.:( I sure hope it stops. I have a lot too but I'd like to keep it that way!

I've walked the past two days and plan on it again tonight...think I need someone to hold me accountable...that's not my husband anyway because then I just get irritated with him lol

Kori..if it makes you feel any better I've been playing with the same two pounds for six weeks! I doubt that helps but hey you're not alone! :)

  17. Thanks Texas...you may have just inspired me to go walk on my treadmill :) I know it will help it is just a matter of getting in the habit. Would be good to find someone to walk with...that's why I think during the summer it will be easier because the schedule is a little clearer. I'm right there with you on the age...42 here so I know that is also a factor but I refuse to let that stop me...I'm still 25 in my head so I just need the body to come down a few years :) Thanks again I'm going to go hit the treadmill now! :)

  18. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well! I am curious what Protein Shakes you all are drinking? I haven't found any I just love. Have muscle milk light and that's not bad. I go back for my second fill on Wednesday and I can't wait. I am not doing as well as all of you and it's a little frustrating! Having a hard time getting the exercise in but am about to be on summer vacation so will have lots of time to get a routine going. Anyhow, will check back in soon. Oh and I didn't have them feeling around for the port with the needle...ouch...but the popping sound when they get it in there is a weird one. Sounds like they've popped an organ....or they're letting the air outta me :) LOL

  19. Thanks cocoabean...I will read the article soon! Elcee...that actually makes me chuckle that they called you after you'd written them but then didn't really know the answer...probably just a customer service rep but still you would think they'd have more information than that. I'm okay with not knowing completely how it works as long as it does work :) but now that no one really seems to know the exact answer I feel a little less dumb for not knowing myself LOL
