  1. The pain wasn't as bad for me. Within a couple of hours of getting home from the hospital my mum had me up and doing chores for her. I think I ripped a bit of the port off my abdominal wall because I wasn't laying still. Best thing is to just lay still and let it heal. The more you move your stomach muscles, the greater the chance of getting a flipped port. Just rest and you should be fine. It takes a couple of weeks for all of the pain to go away.
  2. I actually haven't spoken to my surgeon about it...It's just how the band works and it's pretty common knowledge: Lap-band weight loss surgery is not about restriction The whole point of this forum is to offer support and learn and lose weight. I'm sorry if I offended you by disagreeing with you, but I'd feel worse if the thread starter had taken advice that can offen result in 'snacking' or 'grazing', which is something we often try to avoid if possible. The point of fills are to get enough restriction and eat enough to suppress your appetite to be less interested in food in between meals. This doesn't include stretching the stomach...They're two entirely different things so I'm kind of confused as you why you're bringing that up when she doesn't have a problem with that, and I'd never mentioned it. So I'm assuming having multiple meals a day isn't going to do that. I can imagine this wouldn't apply in the first few weeks though, as you're restricted to mushies and liquids which pass through the band easier, thus having to eat more - sometimes not all at once. If it works for the then cool. But the whole point of the band is to supress the appetite and that commonly doesn't work when you eat less food more often, as you previously stated.
  3. Here ya go: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f82/liquid-stage-recipes-17636/ and you can blend anything up. Try some fruit and low fat yogurt. Be creative! You can even take normal foods that everyone else is having for dinner (like curry chicken or something) and blend that up. Basically if it's blendable and it doesn't rely on consistency for deliciousness, you can blend it.

    Ice Cream Yet?

Ahaha, I love your analogy. I'm a bit lactose intollerant too. I never stopped eating dairy products until now though - :smile2:
  5. Yep, it hurts. You may experience some depression at some stage too...This is all normal and your body eventually gets used to not being able to eat as much. Let your body heal.

    I've hit a wall ....

Uh oh Dave...You've gone too far now.. Just kidding.
  7. She doesn't have a problem with her stomach streatching. If you eat little often then you don't get enough food to reach the nerves at the top of the stomach that sends the message to the brain that you're full - that's how the band works.

    I've hit a wall ....

Change your workout to something else for a while. Eat more Protein and less carbs as Cheri said and don't give up! Edit: The plateau diet sounds good too. But I think this might be closely related to doing a similar workout (running and cycling are more similar than we think) and your body may have adjusted to it. I hope this is the problem anyways, because it's easily fixed :-) Cheers.
  9. There's only one way to find out!
  10. Grazing isn't a good habbit to get into for lap banders. I'd suggest eating less often with larger amounts.
  11. Congrats! I was looking at my BMI wheel last night and was thinking how great it'd be to get to that category. Well done
  12. What??? Baby food is just mushed up fruit and oatmeal sometimes with less sugar and no additives  How is it repulsive? Is it just the thought of it?

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

I was banded on the 21st of September and have lost 13 kilos (28 lbs). :-D I'm hoping to lose another 13 kilos before December.
  14. Hey Elcee. Thanks for recommending calorieking to me. I finally got round to making an account and it is AMAZING. It even has forme yogurt in there and recipees. Hope you're doing well. Thanks again :-)

    Cheers,

    WrenBird.

  15. Cooking, Baking and recipes - LAP-BAND There's some good ideas in there. I think with weightloss most of the time comes with preparation of food though - eating pre-packaged non-fresh foods can lead you to trouble. I personally eat a lot of oranges, and 'For me' yogurt, which contains only 70 calories for a 175g tub. Baby food is good too! Just don't get the savoury ones - they're pretty gross.
  16. I just compost mine. I'm so wasteful - Having half eaten fruit in the fridge is a pet peeve of my mum's. Most of the time I won't eat it so it just sits there to rott or go dry. I tried cling wrap - maybe it'll work better with those bags. I'll see if I eat it and if my mum yells at me  Cheers.

    I (heart) Protein :D

Everything in moderation! You can get good cutts of bacon, that have less fat. I wouldn't eat much of it though, just a little bit to put in an omlett as a treat. I'm a very healthy eater.
  18. Have you been vomitting?
  19. WrenBird

    I (heart) Protein :D

Anything with mustard on it! I used to love bacon before the band...I think I might make an omlet soon with some in it and see how that goes.
  20. I'm sick of having to throw out half eaten oranges :-(
  21. I ate baby foods because it was easier than blending up fruit and stuff. Fruit puree contains a lot of added sugar, but baby food it's all natural and delicious. I looked at the ingrediants on one of the baby food bottles: apples blueberries oatmeal It was better to eat than the fruit purees...My mum insisted I eat mashed potatoe...I figured it'd be better for me to eat the baby food.
  22. Haha. Have you found that you have more energy or less energy lately?

  23. Oh man...I had chest pain until the 2nd week or more. They put me in a CT scanner and did a bunch of tests - it was apparently just me healing from the surgery.

    tired of doctors

This is a support forum...But did you ever just consider that there might be some truth in some of the stuff they said? If we were to just agree with you and make you think that being unnecessarily angry was ok, we wouldn't be very good at supporting you, would we? I think you need to look at yourself. It's obvious you're not in the right head space at the moment. It's ok though, we've all been through it. The first step is to realise that you're not ok with yuor emotions...I think this htread and your last post (the one I'm quoting) is an obvious indication that there's some issues there. All the best to you...I mean it...I didn't write this to make you feel sad or upset, I'm writing this to make you realise that you might need help.

    Marie Claire

Now that I've calmed down a bit I'm just going to say one more thing: This girl obviously has body issues - when you want to be thin you can sometimes brainwash yourself into wanting it so badly that you end up hating anything that goes against your goal. I know it sounds weird but I think this girl has a serious problem - just like some of us have serious problems. I used to hate thin girls in magazines for looking too thin, when they were healthy girls who just happened to have protruding hip bones. Being deathly skinny to me looks gross, and being obese to this women looks gross - they're both issues that sometimes people can't help. In the end I think this women needs help. I heard she has anorexia - she has a problem with eating, just like we do...The only difference is she wrote a magazine article about it and a larger portion of the population is obese than too skinny, so it caused an uproar. It's funny when a 'minority group' is attacked, it hardly goes unnoticed...But when that 'minority group' finally becomes a larger portion of the population, everyone's starting an uproar about it. I still think she's a bitch though. and so am I for not finding skinny people attractive (though I didn't write a magazine article about it, but this post comes pretty damned close). I'm a hypocrite and I'm sure a lot of people out there are too.
