  1. I've heard a bunch of different numbers, so I'm curious. :wink2:

    How long in banster hell?

Did she change it? I see this: 1st Fill 9/3/10: 2ccs 2nd Fill 9/21/10: 1cc 3rd Fill 10/3/10: 1cc I heard her say that she's had 4 fills...and in the signature it says 3, so she probably has forgotten to put the 4th in there :wink2:
  3. It seems I've been using the drooling smilie instead of the happy face...I'm sorry if I weirded you out...Totally unintentional.
  4. Hi everyone! I was wondering how many of you are taking their clothes in at the side or are just buying new ones? I'm one of those horders who've kept all of their clothes since I was 12 upward, thinking someday I'll lose weight, so I'm quite lucky that a lot of those clothes fit me now  I was also thinking of taking my clothes in until I lose all of the weight, that way I won't have to keep buying. (limited moneyz. Student life. Blergh). Anyone else? Feel free to post up pictures of stuff you've bought too :smile2:

    NSV, my favorite so far.

:wink2: Awesome. I'm happy for you. It must be liberating.
  6. Like Melissa said, keeping a food journal is great. It's really helped me know exactly how many calories I'm putting into my body and taking out with exercise. I like fitday.com or calorieking.com (thanks Elcee :smile2:) It's worked for me, it might work for you. Also...You shouldn't be vomitting at all :-/ it might be your body telling you that you're eating too much or that your band is too tight. Good luck you, :wink2:
  7. I'm struggling with it as we speak lol. I try to avoid salty foods so I don't get thirsty while eating and I drink a lot a bit before I eat - I also find that makes me less hungry.
  8. It times like these I'm greatful for studying fashion design back in the day. - They taught us to sew. Edit: I wonder if getting sewing classes would be worth it for people who don't know how to sew? It's heaps of fun and so much more awesome wearing the clothes that you know actually fit you properly lol.
  9. I am going to try my absolute best to never have antyhing stuck again lol. It was the worst feeling in the world. I looked in the mirror and my face was almost green :smile2:
  10. Yeah, I thought it was meant to make the popping noise...So the second time when he did it in a different area without the popping noise it was a bit freaky. I'll have to see on Thursday, I think that's when my appointment is. We'll see if there's any fill left. Looks like if there is it might need to be tightened anyways.
  11. Mmm. It was quite strange though when I'd had a fill and couldn't really eat anything much at all then it changed to being able to eat whatever I wanted overnight. I'm still able to eat whatever I want now, even after a week. I actually think that the person who did my fill may have pierced the tubing. He firstly got a needle that was too small but it pierced the port, I felt it...It went POP! He then said the needle was too small to use, so he got a bigger one out and went to an entirely different place and there was no pop, but he was able to get fill in and out...Bizaare. I really hope there's not a problem there, but someone said the other day that (because it's ongoing and my stomach hasn't re-tightened) that it could be me losing fat around the stomach pouch. Though it's unlikely because it all just happened over night - literally. My port has been hurting a bit lately too, but I think that's because I lay on my tummy and it's sticking out now that I've lost a few kilos. I really hope the problem just solves itself It was like my fill was too tight and then KABLAM! It was too loose. Blergh. I've got an appointment soon anyways. Fingers crossed. Thanks for your help :smile2:
  12. Ahhh, I see LOL. The meat thing - nooo, I'd avoid that at all costs lol. I gagged when I smelt even the savoury cheesebake one without meat in it  The custard ones taste like pumpkin soup - vom. The savoury ones - I've learnt my lesson with those lol. I just keep with the fruity ones. The oats are well blended, I don't think there's much in there. I think it's just used to thicken it. I was eating that one when I was on mushies and was fine with it. I'm not sure if you can buy those ones where you live though coz I'm in Australia. You can get Jello ones too that are fruity and they're quite nice. I like them better than the fruit purees because those ones I find are pretty sugary and at times I'm too lazy to puree my own fruit :smile2: But yeah, I see what you mean with the savoury ones. I feel so sorry for babies who have to eat that garbage.
  13. Straight to the point. I had a moment yesterday when I was really hungry. My fill seems to have disapeared (or I'm losing fat around my stomach incredibly quickly) and I had to turn off the TV everytime a fast food commercial came on. A month and 10 days after surgery and I still have control problems - but I'm starting to get people to hide their Snacks in their rooms, not in the cupboard. I may be selfish, but you've gotta do what works for you to keep with it!
  14. Someone said the other day that they were taking gas-x strips to help with gas pain (the kind that goes up to your shoulder). I'm not sure if that'd help because it goes through the stomach, but it's worth a try maybe.

    Lack of nutrition

I just use a multi nutritional shake everyday usually and have a liquid vitamin.
  16. Ohh I see. So it happens when it gets stuck? I had an Optifast bar get stuck once and it felt like I was having a heart attack, but I didn't slime. I think because I was drinking sips of Water to get it down. That was the scariest feeling I think I've ever experienced. Drinking water made it hurt more, but it got it down faster. I would've chosen chili fries too! They sound like they'd be soft and easy to go down. If you had've chosen something else who knows, it could've been worse.

    Very embarassing NSV

 That's funny and cute. I'm having a similar problem at the moment - Luckily I was one of those people who always says, "Hmmm...I won't chuck those jeans out because they might fit me someday"...On the odd occassion that it'd pay off - it did :smile2: Are you going to sew your clothes to make them smaller, or are you just going to buy new ones? I think I might sew mine until I lose all the weight.

    alot of belching

I heard gas-x strips work well
  19. Oh. Yummy! Something to look forward to! Ahahaha. The county fair? Does that mean you were sampling some tasty treats when it happened? Did people see it and go, "WHAT THE! IT'S THE EXORCIST!" (I've always imagined it was green) Was it embarassing? I have no experiences with sliming :smile2: So I've got no clue what it looks like. We should change the blue saliva of that smilie to green or whatever colour slime is. This is a tasty conversation that goes well with my morning yogurt
  20. I'm not saying it doesn't work at all - I'm saying it's not ideal. If you eat a large portion of a meal and your appetite is suppressed and then you're hungry again in 2 or so hours, then it doesn't seem like your band is working. - Or your brain quickly overcomes appetite supression. Fact of the matter is. The band works by supressing the appetite when we eat, making us less likely to eat between meals. If we don't eat enough, our appetites aren't supressed. By eating between meals, we're adding more food to our day - which is exactly what the band is meant to stop (as it's an appetite supressant). As they say: "The band is empowering; if you eat an appropriate amount and make appropriate food choices, you will be satisfied for several hours. This results in either weight loss, or weight maintenance (if you are at your goal)." If you're eating smaller portions that don't satisfy you, you're likely to eat more often, thus eating more food, which isn't what the band is for. I'm sure eating 6 meals a day works great for someone, but I'm going by what she previously stated, which was - "Have you tried eating more often in smaller amounts?" C'mon...That just by-pass the banding's appetite supression use. - That's the point I'm trying to make. It may work with diabetes patients, because it helps them feel less hungry but WE HAVE LAP BANDS to make us feel less hungry! Because it works with diabetes patients, doesn't necessarily mean it's going to work with us. The whole point of the band is to supress our appetites...You don't do that by eating multiple meals that don't satisfy you. I'm trying to get the OP to feel more satisfied with 1 meal, than with multiple meals that won't fix her appetite.
  21. When you go into surgery they pump your stomach up with gas, so there's a lot of gas around your organs. (If you wanna see how they do it, it's really interesting, youtube 'lap-band' surgery) That gas sometimes gets left behind and as a result and travels to the highest place it can usually reach - the chest or the shoulder. This results in a silly little pain as it sits there, waiting to dissolve. People also think that the gas only reaches the top of the abdominal wall, and as there's limited nerves there is registers as shoulder pain. Weird, eh? Anyways, it happens to almost everyone when they have laporascopic surgery.
  22. Bah. It's cool.. Seems like most people do it, including me
  23. No worries at all. I'm glad it went this direction anyways lol...Not much to talk about besides a drooling smilie. The new topic can be sliming: I actually haven't vomited or 'slimed' or anything like that yet and I was banded a little over a month ago. When people say they do it it really confuses me and makes me glad I've never had to go through that.
  24. Seriously? What's the deal with people hating baby food? I can completely understand the savoury ones being disgusting, but the fruit ones are just fruit puree with no added sugar or preservatives!
