  1. You are so right! If there were a standard that all doctors would agree to we wouldn't be on fourms like this trying to figure out what to do. I had a much better day today. I found the Protein shots at Rite Aid and liked them much better than the shakes. Off to shop for more tomorrow.

    I saw it...

Ha! My husband wants to weigh mine to make sure they don't get too small! After two breastfed kids the only things this puppies are gonna do is head south. Small boobs for one will be nice!
  3. I had my band on Tuesday, so two days before you. I felt the same way. In fact, day three after any surgery is the worst day. I've had many knee surgeries and it has always been day 3. I called my doctor and was told not to worry about the shakes or anything but just drink water. I had Vitamin Water, a tiny bit of juice and regular water. Today will just suck. I regretted my choice too,but I promise it will get better. Walk around, take some Tylenol, and focus on drinking. There will be a turning point. I've not had normal food since last Saturday night and I'm down 10 pounds today! There is hope.
  4. Its so frustrating that everyone's doctors are telling them different things. I was told shakes, thin juice, broths, strained soups and whatever thin liquids I could down would be fine and then at the end of this week, about now, I could puree some fruit into a shake. Funny how each doctor has a differing opinion on what is safe. I am supposed to be doing the liquid thing for two weeks and then onto light meats like sliced turkey, fish, fruit sauces, yogurts, etc. I'm guilted over the egg now! Trust me, I'm really not trying to sabotage myself after 5 days. I've lost 10 pounds as of this morning and that included two pre op days of just liquids so I'm excited. I had about 6 oz of a shake this morning and some tomato bisque which was awesome. I guess that I need to put my big girl(quickly shrinking!) pants on and suck it up for 9 more days. I think a trip to Macy's this morning to go buy some new pants two sizes smaller for my trips in November will be a motivator. My husband doesn't care if I get the $155 7 For All Mankind jeans as long as they come from the normal sized section of the store. Shop on I say!
  5. Please reconsider your choice of facilities. If you have insurance I would find a real bariatric surgeon like mine, Dr. Carson Liu who was one of the first in the US to be approved for this surgery in 2001. He did mine Tuesday in Westwood. He has done over 1900! Can the 1800 doctor honestly claim that? Google Dr.Liu and you will see his amazing background. He was named one of the best lap band doctors by Newsweek magazine, has numerous board certifications and his office and surgery center in only one of maybe 5 in the country that have been awarded the Center of Excellence Award for bariatric surgery. You can see him in Tustin or Westwood.

Don't you hate how our bodies have a way of pissing us off like that! You can diet for ages and not budge a pound on the scale, but then all of a sudden it happens! I'm sure you look great!

    Dr. Carson Liu

Just had my band done on Tuesday(Sept 28th) I did my research and he is so highly regarded in his field. I'm happy so far and his staff are awesome.
  8. I was given the ok for soups since the day of surgery. I have had tomato, tomato rice(again, mush the hell out of the rice), creamy chicken ones(pureed) and just broth. You should see my kitchen. It literally looks like a soup kitchen! I have every type you can imagine. I'm trying to find one that taste decent enough, has enough nutritional value, not too much fiber and can be pureed well. Tomato has been on the top of my list. I made the Campbells Tomato Rice with one wedge of Laughing Cow Garlic and Herb cheese. I blended the cheese to make the soup slightly creamier and it too was the best freaking soup I've ever had and I hate Campbells soups!

    Vacation

I asked about having issues with skiing because the high altitude mades it hard for a normal person to eat normally so he said some people come in to have a bit removed to have the extra space to eat to get the energy to ski. I'll see how I feel in December before I do it myself. I wouldn't personally do it for a cruise or other vacation. You're setting yourself up for problems. I'm going on a 16 day Asia cruise in about 15 months and I want to be the skinny bitch on that ship. Ain't no way Im porking out!
  11. First of all, 8 Oz weighed isn't always going to be 8 fluid oz or 1 cup so be careful. Think about 8 oz of cotton candy and an 8 oz rock. Two totally different amounts in volume.
  12. Well, to me that just shows you're human! So you did it once. No big deal. just don't make a habit of it. Melissa
  13. Ditto! Had surgery Tuesday and had small episode of it this morning which wasn't horrible, but I'm concerned that I'm so lacking in total fluids overall that if it gets bad I could end up very dehydrated. I'm assuming its the normal part of your intestines getting back to normal under the conditions its been in. With just fluids in your body for days it has to remove what has been put in and that is Fluid and then your body will get rid of bile and salts. Just this morning I found something that tastes good and and hopefully will bulk up the flow- Tomato and rice soup! I'm mashing the very hydrated rice on the roof of my mouth to make it super mushy. I'm not afraid that it will get stuck or anything because its so moist. It tastes so damn good and I feel human this morning after eating it. Hang in there! Melissa
  14. Have you tried Morningstar Farms Soy veggie sausage patties? I ate those every morning before my surgery this past Tuesday. They break down nicely so I am assuming that they won't get stuck and you are getting some good Protein for little calories. They are 80 per pattie. I plan on getting back on those in a few weeks when I can eat again. Are hard boiled eggs off the list? I'm kinda craving one and I usually don't. melissa
  15. Hi Julie, I'm feeling a little more normal tonight. Managed some more Muscle Milk, a tiny bit of juice and some chicken broth. I'm forcing Water down as well because my very yellow pee is telling me that I'm really dehydrated. I have a feeling that tomorrow will be a nice turning point. Thankfully the kids are in school all day, my house is pretty clean and I have nothing but TV, the internet and my iPad to keep me going. I think I'll do some 'window' shopping for some skinny jeans for motivation. I have lost 6 pounds since Tuesday which is nice, although I know most is water, it's nice to see the scale say 229 instead of 235! Stick in there and send me an email. Lets chat. Melissa
  16. I just had mine done Tuesday. I've been so up and down since then. I can't get over the fatigue. I am so dang exhausted. I am trying hard to get enough Fluid in me. I was told yesterday to not worry about the shakes for a few days, but to just hydrate because your body has enough reserves to keep you going. I'm trying hard to get some pureed Soups in me, but I find that just a few teaspoons is way more than enough. I was proud of myself that I actually had maybe 3 oz of a Muscle Milk shake and finished off a Vitamin Water today. I have to remember to get some more water into me today though because I fear the dehydration. I'm really surprised/disappointed that I feel so lethargic still. I swear I had more energy after a c section. Please tell me that this isn't going to be the norm? I have had 3 knee surgeries before and didn't feel so tired on day 3.
