  1. I couldn't find this site since my computer crashed. But here goes. Had my surgery on Feb 8 2011 and I have lost 69 pounds. Went from a size 26 in dresses to a size 18. My goal dress is now a size 12 and I can get into it but it is tight and the sleaves come up to mid arm. So I figure about 25 more pounds and it might be too big. I love my band and wouldn't change it for anything. I turned 57 on April 28 and yes the band does work if you're over 50. I think it would work if you were over 70. But you gotta remember it is not a sure fire way you have to use it as a tool to help you in the process of losing weight not depend on it doing everything for you. It is a tool and when used as a tool it is a great tool. but you have to worked with it also.

  2. Donna i know all Drs are different but make sure you get you excerise cleared with your Dr. My surgery was April 12th,2011 and all I can do is walk right now. All they say is walk, and I am, 2 miles 2x a day. My first fill is May 11th so i hope I can go to regular food and let me do more excerise. Im planning on buying a gazelle next weekend.. I love working in the yard to.

I have permission from my lapband doctor and my reg doctor, and I haven't really started walking yet , but I am in the morning. I have my alarm set for 6:15 for watching the sunrise, drinking my first cup of coffee, the by 8 I am ready for my walk, 9 it is time to shower and dress for the day. Breakfast right after that. then I start my housecleaning, and after that I spend the afternoon out side in the yard working, By 6 I am taking another walk, after that I work out on my exercise equipment for an hour, then shower and dinner and rest the rest of the night.

I have 3 reminders on my phone and 2 on the alarm setting. I will start in the morning. I have to I am not really losing anymore. And I really need to.

  3. I haven't been banded yet but I currently do an hour of Jazzercise a few times a week and this will be my main workout post banding as well. I LOVE it. I am also a super busy mom so I rarely just sit.

WHEN WILL you be banded do you know yet?

  4. Anything you do that is moving your body is exercise in my book. Parking far away from the store and walking the parking lot is better than parking up close.smile.gif I don't do any type of formal exercise or "working out." I am not saying that is the proper way to do things, but It's the way I do. I have been more active since being banded and think it helps. I do things like going bowling. I didn't like bowling as much before I dropped a large amount of weight just because I felt like everyone was viewing my big a$stongue.gif I would love to get back into dancing! That is what I was doing when I met my DH so many years ago.bananapowerslide.gif

Last summer after being banded we went fishing often. fish2.gifThere are not many calories being burned while fishing, but it sure is better that being a couch potatoebehindsofa.gif

  5. i am planning on spending the day outside if I can it is beautiful and I want to be out in it. i will be pulling weeds probably most of the day. is that considered exercise ?????

I was wondering what types of exercise everyone does after surgery. i love to walk and and dance.

  6. i am now waiting on the approval. It has been a week now and i am so nervous and excited too. I just turned 56 in april so hearing that it will work with us over 50 has helped me with the decision even more. Going to go ahead and go to the seminar on thursday night. Might as well go and get something else started. Did any of you ladies here use tri care prime as your insurance? Checking up on the approval tomorrow. Wish me luck.
