  1. Are you keeping track of the types of food you are eating? Meeting your Protein goals as well as your calorie intake? My previous doctor worked off of the MO that if you just ate less you would lose weight. My new doctor (who also has a band) doesn't believe that is true, that for some patients you do need to follow stict guidelines on what types of things you are eating. Your body is smart and it adapts quickly. if you aren't getting the right mix of nutrients or breakdown of Protein, carbs, fat and Fiber, your body can go wonky on you and refuse to lose weight. It's basically operating in starvation mode. Of course if I knew the secret to jumping out of that plateau I would be rich!

You've only had three fills! It took a lot longer for me to even get real restriction. I was a year in before it happened. At least you know you aren't alone and this isn't completely unheard of!

Weight has started to come off now since my 3rd fill, dropped a dress size so fingers crossed will continue thanks for replying x x

  2. Will do. I am 19st and wanna get to 14st. I was for years into weight training, doing 4-5 days a week religously and also playing Rugby. I was 15st and solid. Unfortinately after a bad ankle injury and subsequent bad operation, wife, kids etc etc came along, circumstances obviously change, for the good I might add, apart from my active life or lack of it and being used to huge portions of food and Protein rich foods and supplimants meant I soon ballooned up. First I was 17st before I knew it, Thats when I was diagnosed with Hypertention and also High Cholostrol (high Triglyserates) which is the bad type. lol, and then soon crept up to 19st which Ive been for the last 6 months. Im asthmatic too on Salbutamol, so Its pretty crap at the moment. Tried all sort of diets, Atkins, Wightwatchers, even took Thermogens (tried most) and slimex etc etc which work for a while then I go back to the weight I was. So I figured this is the only option left for me. I must say Im bricking it, not so much the op, but the fact that Im going over to Belgumn on my own leaving my wife and 4 year old girl at the Airport. Im sure all will be ok.

Im thinking about starting a diary but its all been done before, but if people want me to I will and document my travel, hospital, the doc and post op progress. Ill be starting a low fat diet next week and will up my Protein intake by drinking Suppliments plus some good dose of multi Vitamins just to speed up recovery. Im guessing "Dylan" you went to Newport for the stiches out and refills??? whats your experince with this place. Is it a surgery, hospital???

Anyway, will keep you all posted and Ill post up a "before pic" next week

    bye for now.

Good luck with low fat diet, the newport clinic is in a chiropractors, Fredrick is very proffessional and such a nice guy.

  3. Thank god for this thread, I to am a slow loser banded on 24/10/10 lost 14lbs got my 3rd fill on 24/3/11. I find it very difficult with alot of foods eating less than half before being banded so was expecting more weight loss, I am registered disable due to mutiple problems so exercise is very sedate, but surgeons knew this before my op and had said this surgery was ideal for me because it cut down the amount of food we eat, not what food. Just hoping this fill helps but not really expecting much as im noy hardly eat much at all :-(:(

  4. Hi all

great to hear your all doing well, but on the down side I am really depressed that I am not losing anything now. I try my best at keeping mobile but pain is my problem. I did explain to consultant that I am not the healthest eater but was gauranteed that the lapband was about portions rather than what you eat.

Keep up the good work girls x x x

  5. hi was banded 25th october and only lost 14lbs can't do much exercise due to medical problems. Have had 2 fills having 3 rd one on the 25th march I am eating half or less than before the band so was hoping for more loss but reading some of the topics it is a slow process well done on your weight loss are you sticking to a diet. please keep in touch and we can both give each other support x

  6. I am so sorry to hear things are not going well.

But hang in there , it will get better.

I also got banded last October and so far going well , but I take it day by day.

Make sure you are having enough calories , I would say around 1000 a day and drink plenty of water.I started dropping the pounds when I started drinking Water.

If that still does not work... talk to your doc.

    Good luck and k

thank you for replying I have to say i dont drink much Water but drink loads of squash so will give it a try x x x

  12. hi I have only lost 10lbs in 3 months and have had my first fill with no restriction at all.

Feel so disappointed i suffer with OA and have muscular rheumatism so exercise is very difficult, i am not the healthiest of eater but did explain all this to them and was assured i would still loose weight.

I know it is early days but have seen on this website that so many have not lost the weight and spent all this money it is very dishearting.

  13. I understand your frustration - I am only 5 months post op and I have lost about 10lb in all that time - my problem is I cant stop eating though. Which I realise is the complete opposite to you - I eat small amounts constantly, which is entirely my fault but I just cant seem to get it under control.

How many calories are you eating per day? could it be you are too low and your metabolism has slowed? Check out the "Gabriel Method" - there is a book and website which talks about this. Good luck

  14. Has anyone had fills done in their own home?

I'm having one done of Sunday. It'll be my 1st after having surgery in April (we didnt know at the time of surgery I was pregnant, and I had my baby in Nov so am starting on fills now).

There is a lady who travels around UK providing a fill service and I wondered if anyone else goes down this route?

Ive never heard of this but what a good idea will she do anyone who needs fills or not .

  15. I was banded 15/10/10 and got my first fill on 3rd Dec. I have lost about 15lb post op and about 32 in all. After my first fill I was tight and could only eat about half as much per meal but that has settled now and I feel little restriction. The band has really helped me with portion size and physical hunger....still have to fight head hunger tho. I have arthritis too especially in my knees and the weight loss has really helped so hope u will feel the benefits as ur weight goes down. I think the next fill will really help, from what I have read in these forums this period between banding and fills can be very difficult. Are you eating enough, my doc advises 3 small meals and 2 Snacks, out of curiosity where were u banded?

thank you for replying gives me some hope. Having my first fil today so fingers crossed. I am sure that I A am sure that I am eating enough because im not hungry. I was banded in belgium Dr chris beruyne. Please keep in touch with your progress wishing you all the best. x
