  1. Yeah it is a hard topic. I actually forgot I made a new thread about it and while I was scanning through thread it caught my attention since I do have that problem every day so I opened it to only realize it was created by me.

I like her a lot, she is also my neighbor and we go places. Lately, though we would see each other maybe once a week when we have seen each other every day before.

Maybe its just because it is so cold outside.

  2. I was very hungry at my 1 week checkup post surgery so my doctor put me on Phentermine.

I lost 28lbs in 4 weeks. It is awesome. He will stop me after a fill but I am so worried that I gain weight back or just plateau.

Also, would they give me a fill even though I lost so much before my 1st one? Did you have any experience in dealing with Phentermine?

It always worked for me before but then after I stop it I would gain all the weight back. I am just worried.

    Any input?

  3. I am bipolar and I am happy I can finally admit it. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and I have finally found a good doctor who figured out the right conbinations of drugs about 8 months ago. Before it was hell.

I went to a hospital here and they told me that they do not band bipolar people. I left like I was discriminated against. I felt like there was something wrong with me. It is a disease that we have to be sensitive about and people just toss us into the whole - you are mental - thing.

When I went to another hospital they did not care whether I am BP or not - I did have to go through psychological evaluation thought and I passed it.

The reason they gave me at the hospital where they rejected me over me being BP was that we go through a lot of phases and we could stop taking medications or follow the instructions. Screw them.

One thing that worries me is that while I am loosing weight I will recall things that happened in my life when I was that size.

I am 24, female. I have a great boyfriend who went through hell to be with me, no matter how many times I rejected him. He is very understanding and constantly researching books and internet for BP treatment and response from our loved one. How to deal with it and what not to do to cause a shift.

Now that I am stable I feel very good and out relationship stopped being a roller coaster.

Yesterday my doctor told me that in the start he wasnt sure if he could help me now, he said, he is very proud of me because I am working hard on being mentally healthy.

Lap Band was another thing to look forward to because being BP made me depressed about my weight and how people reacted towards me.

    Thanks for reading my rumbling.

  4. that is the same thing I am going through. I could eat anything and there are the first 4 weeks of my post op. I am anxious.

When I go to see my doc for a fill I will ask him to do that x-ray where you have to drink barium and they can see how it goes through... I really need some self assurance.

  5. What kind of signs do I look for if I consider that there might be a slippage.

I just hear a lot of different stories like there is a lady who had a flu and her band clipped because she was coughing...

I have a flu... I am couching... I do not want to go into an emergency surgery...

    What are some signs?

  6. I just read a lot of threads here and I have been really hungry and coughing a lot since I have a flu right now... I just do not know what signs I have to look for to possibly consider that my band has slipped since I read the story when someone had a flu and an empty stomach their band slipped.

I heard it is something very serious and you have to go for an emergency surgery and stuff like that.

    How do you know? :frown:

    What are some signs?

Did anyone here had that happen and why - what did you do wrong for it to slip?

    Thanks for your input.

  7. well I am 4 weeks post op. I lost 28lbs and have been stuck twice.

One time I got stuck on a hardboiled egg and second time on a crabstick.

It is a very heavy feeling. It feels like someone is twisting your stomack so the food wants to come out.

I didn't womit but I tried to squeeze my throat so I little bit of food goes back up for a moment - that helped.

Just do not forget to chew chew chew and small bites... don't eat doughy stuff - that is the main cause of being stuck.

And about being hungry - I was starving 1 week post op so doctor put me on phentermine - it works beautifully.

I am waiting for my first fill now to get off the diet pill.

Hey - good luck! We all have so much to look forward to.

  8. It is different for all of us.

In my case I went from liquid to solid food diet because I was very, very, very hungry. So, doctor put me on phentermine to curb my appetite.

I only had 4 days to recover and it was more that enough for me since they gave me 30 pain pills.

I am sure that when I have my fill I will try to follow all the directions I should have before.

But, I can eat almost anything ( I got stuck only twice - one on a boiled egg and second time on a crab meat stick ) and still loose weight. Maybe it is band + appetite suppresant.

Anyways - I wish I could keep loosing like I did on the first weeks but people say it is unsafe and usually it goes down to 1-2lbs a week which is the safest way to do it.

I am excited but also nervous.

For you - try some calorie free pop sickles - they have such a variety of tastes now and it will give your tong some pleasure.

  9. Hey Penguin ( I like your nickname ) Your post attracted my attention since I had the same problem about 4 weeks ago post op. ( banded Oct 6 )

I have had horrible post op pain as soon as I woke up in the post op room.

My chest was on fire, my shoulder hurt for one week and port incisions hurt like crazy until I went to my 7 day post op appointment and he gave me a full months supply of pain pills. I am so grateful for that! And I was very hungry so he put me on appetite suppressants till my first fill.

I love my lap band ( someday I will give it a name )

but the pain I had to go through was nearly unbearable. I was at 8 on a 10 pain scale for about a week. In fact I can feel my port under the scar and sometimes when I sit the way that it puts pressure on the incision I still hurt.

I consulted my phisican about it and he said it was normal while I am healing.

Oh and I had nagging pain under my left breast. It was awful.

You are lucky, from what I hear, that you are not having to have prescription pain pills and that your pain is bearable.

But as we all say here - talk to your doctor... He knows the best. ( or she )
