ok here is the deal with me - I was so hungry a week after the surgery that my doc put me on phentermine ( controlled amphetamine like drug ) with 3 refills. It works beautifully. I just had my first fill and I feel no restriction at all but my diet pills work so well.
Good luck.
I wouldn't take over the counter diet pills I would ask your doc for some prescription ones.

Yeah... They told me that in the first weeks before the fill I shouldn't expect to loose any weight at all... My first fill just happened and I do not feel any different. I have a 10cc capacity band and he put 2cc at this first fill. I am already looking forward to my next one.

I weight myself every day. Sometimes i do not feel like I am loosing at all when I miss a day or two. Then I get on the scale and it is a great surprise - I loose pound by pound. Sometimes I stay on the same number for a couple of days which does make me feel like I am doing something wrong and I know that is not the case but eventually my numbers go down.
So, every day...

oh, hey.
I was banded at Centennial. I wouldn't mind going with you to your meeting sometime.

Congratulations...

how are you feeling, dear?

I had Slim Quick but they told me it has to be low carb
-
just look at the post op forum - there are A LOT of questions and answers there...
-
so... did you do it?
-
its great that you shared your news - the more people know it the more support you have. You are going to do it anyway so what can they do about it?
they told me that the main reason I had to have liquid diet was because they needed my liver to shrink before the surgery for it not to be in their way when they operate on me.
I guess they didn't want me to have BMs on the day of the surgery either.
Hey - if you have any questions - write...

I was very very hungry as soon I recovered from the surgery. My doc put me on appetite uppresant called Phentermine. It works beautifully.
-
psych eval for me was questions on whether or not I fully understand the risks and requirements for post op
-
I shamefully admit that I have the same problem. I vowed that I will quit smoking the day I was approved for the surgery. it has been 4 weeks post op and I still can't quit.
I have been begging my doctor to prescribe me Wilbutrin or Chantix or something... he keeps telling me he will do it later when I will recover from the surgery.

I say change the hospital. The first hospital I went to they denied me - the second one was very supportive and I already lost 30lbs since the surgery
-
if you tried to loose that weight for quite some time and nothing worked you may as well do it. 11k for extra years of life - I would take that deal

It took my insurance for-ever to tell me that they need one more medical paper from one of the doctors. When they finally got it it took them two days.
It is funny you mention signs and stuff. I did too. First time I said if they deny me that would be a sign that I shouldn't have started it all in the first place.
When they told me that they can't approve me because I was missing one of the doctors approval I said - well, I did so much to get it already - why not go all the way.
And I did. I lost 30lbs in 4 weeks. This is my 5th week and I am about to have my first fill.
I am sure the weight loss will stop being so rapid and I am supposed to loose only 2-3 lbs a week but hey - the more the better for me. I just have to make sure I eat Protein and drink multivitamis.
Good Luck.
If I had to go it again - I wouldn't stop at anything.
I have BCBS of IL

Every insurance provider has a 30 day maximum wait limit, so it definitely wont take more than 30 days.
-
you know don't worry. A day before the surgery they told me that my AKG was not right. I was panicking. They scheduled appointment the same day with a doctor and he approved me. I had my surgery the very next day. I did have to wait 6 hours since my doctor had an emergency surgery before me, but it was worth the wait. Now 4 weeks later I am 30lbs lighter.
-
I was at 35. I gained some weight before I requested the surgery - I was at 37 and got approved. I have diabetes 2 and hypo thyroid. It has been 4 weeks since the surgery and I am at 33 BMI. I lost 28lbs in 4 weeks since the surgery - isn't that awesome?
You can always appeal if they deny you.
-
hey there I have BCBS of IL too. They have to have an answer ready by the 30th day of request. Mine took 2 weeks too
-
congratulations

For me it works when I am eating seating straight up instead of hunched over.
