Day I finally went to the emergency and they discovered that Lap Band I had put in my stomach on October 2010 has severely slipped. and I was way dehydrated since I couldn't drink more than a half a glass of Water a day before and couldn't get out the bed because of the weakness.
It was also the day I reached my goal weight of 150lbs....
Now, completely unfilled waiting for my lap band to gastric sleeve revision. food...
My roommate though something was not right when I came home with groceries one day.
6 IVs a day keep the dehydration away...
It would be interesting to see nurses faces when they will be stapling 90% of my stomach off - I am so tiny now... but I love it.
Now...
The question part - should I just have it taken out or should I do revision to sleeve surgery at the same time since they can do it for free for me since it was a slip. Even though I am at my goal weight - they offered it.
Well, I just feel like I am greedy. Surgery cost 27,000 and now even though it slipped, I finally reached my goal. But you know you never know - I am just afraid that some day I will be fat again and I will regret that I did not do sleeve when I had the chance.
What would you recommend?

yeah they had to fix hernia for me too and it did hurt more than it was supposed to
-
I had the same problem 3 times this year. It would get too tight and bam... unfill. Now I know - it is because my period is coming
-
I was in a half siting half standing work position and took off 2 days and it was hard but enough. Gotta make that money.
-
8 months and now a year after surgery is my second obstruction.
Right before first one I had Vitamin K deficiency too so I was covered in bruises. They say it happens a lot with abdominal surgery patients.
But anyway - one day I wake up and just cant swallow a pill - the other I can eat banana pudding... All of a sudden. Went to the doc he unfilled 0.5ccs. Why do I get it like 20 days after adjustment?
Grrrr
-
Awesome... So, how is it going?
-
I am not sure what you mean about medically supervised - I believe I will be medically supervised as long as I can pay for the visits.
I was banded Oct 6th, 2010 and in 8 months I already lost 90lbs
Its awesome.
Doc is great!
Oh, and Elizabeth is awesome - she is the help lady in his office.

I had some restriction first 6 months but one day I woke up and it became very tight. I can swallow some food but most of the food I cannot eat anymore. And I have an eating disorder that got out of control - because - I know I need to go to the doctor to have it checked out. I am not going because since it became so tight and it hurts to eat and most of the time I do not eat anymore. It has been 2 months and I lost 20lbs and keep loosing by the day and I love that! I am obsessed with my weight now. I dont want to get fat again. I am afraid if it did slip they would have to do something about that which will come down to being able to eat any time.
I missed last two appointmemnts and I know I have to go. Sometimes I cant swallow Water unless I sip it.
Are those signs of slippage or did I finally reach the green zone?
-
my doc put me on 600
-
ok, that was question too - I am 7 lbs away...
-
my doc sent me to the shrink for the emotional eating problem
-
my total was 26,000 and 2,000 out of pocket
-
I was told that I should not gain too much weight before my surgery after my consultation so I stayed on the same weight - they did not ask me to loose any at all. Just 2 days on liquids before the surgery day
-
they told me I had an abnormal EKG a day before the surgery but then they were able to get me in to see the doc the same day. So, my surgery was done on time ( excluding 5 hours of waiting )
-
Please remember me in your prayers. I go in for my surgery at 7:30 am. Spent today buying all of my "outstanding" liquids I'll be drinking for the first week...lol. I'm not nervous about the surgery yet, but I'm sure anxiety will hit later tonight and in the morning. I truly hope tomorrow is the beginning of a new life for me!!!
you will be fine... just make sure they give you enough pain pills. it's ok to hurt a little
-
it took my insurance about a month to figure out that I did not have all the papers submitted, then two days to approve
-
I am about the same - stress is not helping... but I buy more makeup now
-
Banded October the 6th ( 158 days ago ) and lost 53lbs so far... no more diabetes pills... more Vitamins though
-
Wow.. you people are fast!!! hehehehehe..I'm ok with it, but my husband is so scared he is going to hurt me.. maybe tonight we'll give it a try!!!
gika - have fun! don't kamasutra it yet though...
-
Dont feel down - I was miserable after the surgery... for a while... but it was so worth it...
-
yeah to me it means I have overeaten...
-
well with me it was like that - I went through a rough period one week and gained 10lbs after that. I started sessions with a psych and I am loosing again. To me mind and body are the same
-
I was banded October 6th and I lost 40lbs in the first 3 months but since then I plateaued... So I am stuck at 45 now
-

It has been 6 months post op and once in a while I get it and it just baffles - why?
Anyone Losing Hair?
in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Posted
hair - I started loosing hair but Protein shakes like Muscle Milk helped me stop it. I also would be covered in bruises all over my body - it looked scary - dr immediately diagnosed me with Vitamin K deficiency. Its all imbalances and changes. Adapt to it.
Try pre-natals...
You really can't make yourself not loose weight if you are adjusted properly. First I lost a whole lot, then I stopped loosing for a whole lot of time, then I started loosing slowly when they finally found a green zone for me.
Don't worry that you cannot follow the diet - just dont get discouraged. Look through this forum - there are hundreds of people with the same problems here. That is why I love it - I did not feel like a failure when I was regaining my weight.
It took time and psychiatric help ( do not forget - there is always a connection between your mental state and your weight. )
You cannot change your eating habits if you keep repeating the same things over and over again.
When I was a waitress the best advice I was given by my manager was that it does not matter how badly you messed up your last table - your next one will not know about it - so you have a chance to do it all over again. And I think thats how life is with lap band, you take one day at a time, one meal at a time, one hungry moment at a time.
My Lap Band just recently slipped but I still think thats one of the best things that ever happened to me.
Cheer up!
