    Newly Banded

You guys are lucky... in my experience I had so much pain they had to put me on prescription pain meds. I am so happy it is going well for you. For me it got better the second week after I had my surgery. By then you will probably not feel anything at all.

    port pain?

Hey Penguin ( I like your nickname ) Your post attracted my attention since I had the same problem about 4 weeks ago post op. ( banded Oct 6 ) I have had horrible post op pain as soon as I woke up in the post op room. My chest was on fire, my shoulder hurt for one week and port incisions hurt like crazy until I went to my 7 day post op appointment and he gave me a full months supply of pain pills. I am so grateful for that! And I was very hungry so he put me on appetite suppressants till my first fill. I love my lap band ( someday I will give it a name ) but the pain I had to go through was nearly unbearable. I was at 8 on a 10 pain scale for about a week. In fact I can feel my port under the scar and sometimes when I sit the way that it puts pressure on the incision I still hurt. I consulted my phisican about it and he said it was normal while I am healing. Oh and I had nagging pain under my left breast. It was awful. You are lucky, from what I hear, that you are not having to have prescription pain pills and that your pain is bearable. But as we all say here - talk to your doctor... He knows the best. ( or she )
  3. I had my surgery October the 6th... Its been four weeks. I lost 24lbs in 4 weeks - awesome. I was very hungry the first week so my doctor put me on phentermine. Now I run out of phentermine and I am binge eating again. I am so scared and disappointed in myself. First I felt tight - it felt like I thought it would feel with a band around the stomach. Now I do not feel like I have ever had the surgery. I am back to my normal "eat everything you see" routine. I do not mean to. Its very hard like it was before to just stop. I have not had my fill yet - it is not for another week but I am so scared that my band slipped or my upper stomach is enlarged. I shouldn't be able to eat chicken wings or sandwiches. It has only been going on since I run out of my phentermine - it is just the same as it used to be on this drug - loose a lot/gain it all back fast. Shouldn't I be full faster, unable to eat more that my new stomach is able to hold??? I am confused. I heard that binge eating may cause the band to slip... Or is it just because I have not had my first fill yet??? It was a 26k surgery and I am really really really hoping that it is not going to become normal to me the way it is going now. So, really, what is my question?! Am I able to eat anything I want because I have not had the fill yet or should I be worried about the slippage. Oh, and I am scared that binge eating could have cause the band to slip. Can that happen? Is that normal? Is it normal to eat anything you want to as much as you want to before the fill? I mean, I feel more restriction than before - I got stuck twice already... But, will it change with a fill? Or will I have to suffer the consequences of my old habits??? Thanks for your input.:hi:
  4. Hey Elikis, I am happy you are feeling good after the surgery. When I woke up I had excruciating pain in my chest. Now they put me back on painkillers so I am doing very well. I can't believe still that I finally made it. I have lab band. It is so awesome.

  5. how is your pain level?

  6. Elikis - how are you feeling after the surgery? its weird that I skipped the mushies part completely...

  7. Well, i am surprised how much pain I am going through - my pain level is about 6 on average out of 10. They even had to give me extra strength pain meds ( hydromorphone ) to cope with the pain. Well, they did fix my hernia so maybe that has something to do with it. But man... Even breathing hurts. I am going to the doctor tomorrow and I am hoping to have some resolution.

  8. I had my surgery on October the 6th - couple of days ago and today is the third day. Since I woke up in recovery I was feeling excruciating pain in my chest, lungs and my neck. Doctor even prescribed hydromorphine for me - well, it doesn't work... I have to go back to work in two days and I am dreading it. I never though that this surgery would bring me so much pain.

    Messy subject

I am starving. I have to do 2 days of clear liquids only diet and I am at the end of the first day only. I am starving. But I guess it is worth it. 1 day left till the surgery - I can do it.
  16. I work nights so I am working that night before the surgery. I am getting off at 6am, in hospital by 7am, surgery at 8am. It all sounds a little bit too goo to be true. But you never know. I guess it all depends on the hospital. So nervous.
  17. I am also October the 6th. Wow. I wish we would all go to the same hospital and be in the same waiting room for support. I am nervous.

  18. Hey, nice profile colors. I like purple. So what time is your surgery on the 6th? I gotta be there at 7am. :) Can't wait too.

Smoking and affects on lap band

I am ashamed of myself. I have not been told whether or not to quit - since I do not need to have a nicotine test - they just told me not to smoke 3 days before the surgery. I have 5 days before my surgery and I am waiting till the last moment to quit. I know I won't be able to smoke after I get banded, but it is so hard to quit right now since I am so nervous about the surgery. And the fact that I smoke makes me even more nervous... so I smoke... I hate this habit. I wish I have never started. It is so bad for me.

    I cheated...

    do not beat yourself up!
  21. wow - I am hearing a lot of scary stories about the pre - op diets here. I am supposed to have a 2 day liquid pre - op diet before this upcoming Wednesday and I am really nervous because I love food and sometimes I unintentionally go and eat and then realize what I have done. Really weird. So, I guess I got lucky not to be starving for as long as two weeks.
  22. Hey there. I am so excited we are going to be banded so close together. You are on Thursday, heh? you are at the centennial too, right?

tell them to put you on a payment plan. my deductible is $1600 too but I only had to pay ( only, heh?! ) $700 pre - op
  24. My doctor doesn't have any crazy fees like that.
