  1. Thanks for the encouragement and advice. Much appreciated!!! It is so great to be able to come here and not only talk about positive milestones, but also fears and disappointments (that usually ease through the support of others).
  2. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm glad to hear it's normal. Also happy to hear that your reflux got better!!!
  3. That is great news! Congrats and Good Luck to you on your journey!!!
  4. I will be a band to sleeve revision in the next few weeks. I am ready to lose the weight...AGAIN. But it seems I have a different fear every day or so. At first I was worried about the pain (which I have sense learned isn't too bad). Next I was worried about leakage. Then I was/still am worried about regain. And over the last day or so I have become worried about acid reflux (which I currently don't have due to the lap band). Is it normal to worry this much before sleeve surgery?
  5. I also had a band failure and will be having my sleeve revision surgery shortly. In the meantime, I hope to see more "success with sleeve after band failure" stories.
  6. I will be having the band to sleeve revision in 1 surgery (in about 4 weeks). I have had the band since 2010. I lost 115 pounds and felt great. Then came the complications. Had to have the band emptied and all of the weight came back. I am so ready to get this band out of me and move on to what is hopefully a more successful weight loss surgery (fingers crossed).
  7. I have several fears such as dying and them finding other medical problems (i.e. cancer), but I fear weight regain the most. I currently have the lap band. Lost 115 pounds. Had complications and gained it all back. So, now they have to do a band to sleeve revision. So, yes...weight regain is my worst fear. I just want to lose weight and keep it off.
  8. Good luck to you both!!! I should be having my surgery in the next 4 weeks or so. Can't wait!!!
  9. Welcome! I also had complications with lap band and will be getting my sleeve revision hopefully in the next 4-6 weeks. Good luck to you!
  10. I haven't had my band to sleeve revision surgery yet, but had to have my band emptied earlier this year due to complications. Good luck to you!
  11. Thanks so much. It is always good to hear from those that have had the band to sleeve revision. Good luck in your continued journey!!!
  12. NOT being able to: walk to the mailbox without becoming winded fit in certain seats (restaurant booth, airplane, amusement park rides, etc.) find the right size/cool clothes (even in the Big & Tall section) clean certain areas without a struggle walk without ankle, knee, and back pain
  13. Here I am...a little embarrassed, disappointed, and ashamed...but I am ready for the Band to Sleeve revision. I took the plunge and had Lap-Band weight loss surgery on November 3, 2010. I worked hard to lose the weight with help from the Lap-Band, exercise, and the support of my wife, friends, and extended family. I did great and lost 115 pounds within 2 years...Unfortunately, the weight loss didn't last. I began to develop ulcers and other gastro issues and began to gain weight back (even though I had good restriction). I eventually had to have the band completely emptied...which resulted in me gaining all of my weight back (and more). I am currently in the process of having the Gastric Sleeve revision surgery. I have gone to another seminar, filled out all of the necessary paperwork, turned in medical records, and have my nutrition and mental health evaluations scheduled for next week. So, I should be having my surgery sometime in the next 4-6 weeks...fingers crossed. I am ready to lose weight so I can someday zip-line, go on hikes, ride in airplanes, and buy whatever clothes I want (and not be limited by the poor selections in Big & Tall sections). Thanks for listening.
  14. Good luck!! I will be having my Sleeve surgery sometime in the next 4-6 weeks. Just have to do my nutrition and mental health evals and then pre-op testing and I am good to go!!
  15. That is great to hear!!! I will be having a band to sleeve conversion sometime within the next 4-6 weeks, so I am thrilled to hear of your progress!! Best wishes to you!
  16. Thanks for the response and kind words. Good luck with your sleeve surgery on 9/18!!!
  17. Here I am...AGAIN...embarrassed, disappointed, and ashamed...but I am starting anew. By background: I was always very active for most of my life (farming, basketball, weight training, intramural sports, and high school/ college marching bands) and at 5' 11" tall, I weighed between 165-185 pounds during my "lean" years. BUT about 12 years ago that all changed. I started packing on the pounds due to various physical and emotional reasons. I tried countless diets, exercises, pills, and weight-loss fads, but to no avail. The number on the scale kept rising. I don't know what clicked...maybe it was being diagnosed with the beginning stages of Congestive Heart Failure...but sometime during the middle of 2010 I took the plunge and had Lap-Band weight loss surgery on November 3, 2010. I worked hard to lose the weight with help from the Lap-Band, exercise, and the support of my wife, friends, and extended family. I did great and lost 115 pounds within 2 years... Unfortunately, the weight loss didn't last. I began to develop ulcers and other gastro issues and began to gain weight back (even though I had good restriction). I eventually had to have the band completely emptied...which resulted in me gaining all of my weight back (and more). So, here I am...AGAIN... I am currently in the process of having the Gastric Sleeve revision surgery. I have gone to another seminar, filled out all of the necessary paperwork, turned in medical records, and have my nutrition and mental health evaluations scheduled for next week. So, I should be having my surgery sometime in the next 4 weeks or so...fingers crossed. I want to zip-line, go on hikes, ride in airplanes, and buy whatever clothes I want (and not be limited by the poor selections in Big & Tall sections). I have a lot more living and dreaming to do, so I am ready to do the work to lose the weight again. Any support and advice is much appreciated. Thanks for listening.

  21. Thanks again for your kind words. You have been so very thoughtful. As far as depression treatments, I have been on about 50+ different meds and none of them have ever helped. I have been told that I just don't respond to meds, so I am kind of on my own. As far as a therapist, I had a REALLY good one, but then I moved away and got married and haven't been able to find one I like yet. I have suffered from depression sicne childhood due to abusive parents and have been on disability because of it since 2004. My wife is very compassionate and accepting of my lot in life and very loving when I am down. However, she can't help much in the weight department as she also struggles with weight issues, but doesn't want/ can't afford the lapband. Mine was covered 100% through Medicare or I wouldn't have been able to get it. We actually just got back from a 7-day Caribbean cruise! YAY! But now back to real life. Again, THANK YOU for your kind words!!! Thank you so much! Your kind words are very meaningful! And you can do ANYTHING!!! Good luck! When do you get banded?
