Most of us are (or have been) addicted to food, but what other addictions/ obsessions do you have?
I'll go first....
I'm addicted to/ obsessed with:
•constantly checking my phone throughout the night
•over-exercising
•buying new socks
•gardening
•cruising/vacationing
I'll try to think of more and add them later.

Unfortunately, besides the pain, I've also gained about 8-10 pounds in the last week. I guess it is due to all of the swelling, etc. [emoji22]

Thank you so very much. I appreciate it!I remember your preop posts. It's great to see you knocking it out of the park postop - rotten kidney stone nowithstanding.
I had a roomate overnight when I was readmitted. She had a kidney stone and hadn't slept in two days. She was getting huge doses of pain meds and was still miserable. The following morning, she had lithotripsy. She'd gotten moved postop to another room, so I stopped to see her on one of my laps around the floor. She was a totally changed woman with a HUGE grin on her face. Once you get relief from pain like that, it's life-changing.
And you are so right!!! Once pain gets under control you feel like an entirely different person. Unfortunately I'm still struggling to get the kidney stone pain to a more manageable level.

Fatty McF....so sorry you are still feeling crummy. I hope you get the pain under control soon.
Thank you all so much.Prayers going out to you

My band has caused so many problems over the years. I havent eaten a full portion of food since 2009 so im used to small meals.
Have you been able to eat normal foods yet?
My main motivation for surgery is knee pain. ..did you find it just disappeared as you list the weight?
Congratulations!

Thank you all so much for the love and support. I'm not sure what I've shared so far (since I'm doped up on pain meds), so I apologize if I repeat myself.
I was discharged from the hospital around noon yesterday with 5 prescriptions (pain, pain, nausea, antibiotic, and OTC stool softener). I am still in lots of pain and urinating lots of blood. Have to take pain med every 4 hours or it becomes unbearable.
The laser broke up the 8mm stone and he got most of it, but it was really hard and sharp causing a lot of damage to my urethra. It has also caused a tremendous amount of pain and swelling in my testicles. (Feels like someone has been kicking me over and over in the groin area).
I have a stent in and I have to leave it in for 4 weeks (and it too causes a lot of pain).
So I'm pretty much bed ridden for at least 1 week as my surgeon doesn't want me doing anything at all in order to allow things to heal a little and swelling to hopefully go down.
Thanks again to all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and kind words. They mean the world to me!!!

@@Fatty McFatster - hubby has been through this twice - not pretty.
The stent removal was without meds by the way, for hubby, and it was like a l-o-n-g spring (not straight). He said they put it in while he was under anesthesia and why they take it out like that (nothing for pain) is cruel.
Praying this ends for you soon.
Thank you both so very much!!! Really appreciate the prayers. So sorry you are going through this! I have had Kidney stones 3 times and only once did I need surgery for the removal. It was the worst pain I had ever been through in my entire life.
The good news is that you are on the other side and the pain will eventually let up and you will start to feel better. I know hospitals are the best place to relax and take it easy but try. If you are having a really difficult time let the nurses know. They can probably give you something to relax you and help you sleep.
Prayers sent!
Hope to be released soon. Didn't sleep at all last night.

Thanks. I hope I do too, but just found out I have to keep the stint in for 3 weeks. Ouch!!!Hope you start feeling better today.

I am a Christian as well and couldn't have said it better.I'm sorry you'r hurting. As a Christian, my go to is praying to the Lord for peace and comfort in the pain...it has helped to get me through many times.
Also, can you ask for more pain medicine? Maybe that will help the pain so you can sleep.

I'm maxed out on the pain meds right now and have to wait 4 hours in between doses.

They also put in a stint that I have to keep in for at least 2 weeks.

Hope you feel better soon. Kidney stones are no joke. I would rather give birth than have a kidney stone. They are so painful.
Prayers for healing and rest.
So sorry you are going through this!
I sure hope you heal quickly and can put this behind you.
Wonder if walking over 70 miles last week worked that sucker out.

so sorry this happened to you! I had my first kidney stone experience - it was 6mm but theoreticlly narrow enough to pass. It never did, and so after a pretty dang long time i had that day surgery "procedure" where they blast it and put a stent in. They threatened to admit me due to the out of control pain but I wanted to go home - it really is THAT bad though. It has been hellish and I am only now feeling like I am returning to normal (stent removed Monday!). I am so sorry you are going through this - it is way more painful and life disrupting than I ever fathomed it could be....
Hang in there!
Ur in my prayers!!!I've been in severe pain and throwing up most of the day so I went to the ER. My urine sample was almost entirely blood and a CT scan found that I have an 8mm kidney stone!!! Yikes!!!I've had kidney stones 6 times previously, but never one this large. I will need surgery to have it removed, so they will probably admit me to the hospital for the night to control the pain/nausea and then schedule surgery for tomorrow morning.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Wow -- it feels like a kidney stone epidemic around here.
Good luck to you, young man.
I hope your urologist saves and analyzes the stone -- to see what's causing the problem and what (if anything) you need to change in your diet.
Good luck I hope the surgery solves your problem. Sounds very painful and I bet you will be glad to have it gone.
Praying for you...

Praying for a quick and low pain recovery! Veterans is there any link between weight loss surgery and kidney stones? A long time ago a friend lost a bunch of weight on Atkins and his doctor said his Atkins diet caused his kidney stones. We eat high Protein after surgery so I am wondering if there is connection? Or maybe Calcium supplements?
My motto is "Go big or go home", but not like this!!! Hugs and prayers.
Glad hard part is over! Prayers for an easy recovery!
Thank you all so much for your kindness. It means so much to me!!!

Thanks everyone. Out of surgery and in recovery. Being admitted to the hospital for monitoring.
-
Actually, the Urologist is coming for me right now and taking me straight into surgery.....
