  1. Oh honey! I'm sorry to hear that you are distraught. It's not real. Stay off the scale. Keep doing your tried and true rules and it will all work its way out. This is a traumatic change for your body. It's confused and trying to keep you alive by holding onto everything to preserve your health. After you are out of pain and healthy you will get back on track. Just remember to eat correctly and drink lots of Water. Our prayers are with you in this difficult time.

Thank you so much. You know exactly what to say to help ease my concerns.

Can't wait until my appointment so I can get some answers and hopefully resolve some of my issues.

  2. I'm going to try one of these. I've never done it, but I've been stuck 20 pounds above my goal for over a year, and Memorial Day is my birthday weekend, so I think a good gift to myself would be to push myself to finally get rid of these last twenty pounds.

Question for those who have tried this: Have you found it beneficial to do a "reset" liquid diet before beginning like the one suggested below?

Go back to basics. Do a mini preop/liquid/puree/soft food over the next week or two. This will not only help you clean all the crap out of your system, it will stop your cravings, maybe tighten up your restriction a bit, and give you a mental reset back to when this journey began. Find pictures of yourself preop. Do you want to go there again? What motivated you to have surgery in the first place? Find that old motivation

And the best way to accomplish these things and get your head back in the game is to get help. You had a surgeon "fix" your stomach, now you need a mental health professional to help you "fix" your head. The latter is a much harder task than the former, and most people can't do it on their own.

Absolutely it has helped me!! I went back and did a 2-week liquid Protein diet and it jump started my weight loss again by helping me lose 14 pounds in 2 weeks. But I was also walking 10-15 miles each day as well.
Did you do strictly shakes? Or did you incorporate mear? I have been stuck and was thinking about doing this.
I did strictly Protein Shakes on weekdays and incorporated meat into 1 meal on each weekend day.

  4. I have an urgent appointment with my Urologist tomorrow. They're concerned that I've gained 18 pounds in 5 days. So they're going to do an X-ray and run some tests.

I'm so sorry to hear this - they may be worried about hydronephrosis. I'm so sorry about your competition, but your kidneys are more important. Hoping everything is OK!

Thank you. I appreciate it. I think you are right. Hopefully I know something by tomorrow afternoon.

I hope questions are all cleared up for you tomorrow. Sounds like you have a proactive, decisive and responsive Doc!!

Yeah, hopefully by tomorrow afternoon I'll know what's going on. And I really like my Urologist!!

  5. Skinny pop popcorn

Workout clothes and athletic shoes. (In the last year I have bought over 30 pairs)

I love the cheddar flavored skinny pop popcorn!!!

    Coffee!

I like to drink! I've decided to quit for a year after my surgery, though.

I love reading! I always got my nose buried in a book!

I love make up. Sephora is my version of heaven.

And of course I love food, that's what got me here. Mexican and chicken nuggets.

  6. Inflammation and all the IV fluids. I wonder how much kidney function reduces. That may also be why you're holding Fluid. Then there's the Constipation and slowwwwwww motility from anesthesia and narcotics. Our colons can hold 8-12 pounds of waste [emoji12]

I just posted on a vets thread about some of this.

Don't panic. It will come off when you start moving.

    It's not fat. Promise!

Thank you so much for the response and explanation. I really appreciate it. Just hate that all of this had to happen right before my final weigh-in.

  7. Long story short: I went to the ER just 5 days ago due to a large kidney stone. I had emergency surgery to break up the kidney stone and I ended up having to stay in the hospital for 1 night. My urologist also put in a stent that I'll have for 4 weeks. I get all of that.

But how in the world have I gained 18 pounds in 5 days (from kidney stone surgery)?!?!?!?!?! EIGHTEEN POUNDS!!!!!

And if that wasn't bad enough, I'm in a local Biggest Loser weight loss challenge that's been going on for 7 weeks where you can win $1,000 if you lose the most weight. I walked nearly 70 miles each week and closely monitored my food intake. I don't know if I would have won, but I was so happy with my progress. Unfortunately, the last weigh in is this week...and did I mention I'm up 18 pounds?!?!

    I'm so disappointed.

  8. I know I don't drink enough Water. That is something I've struggled with even before WLS. I think I need to start focusing more on it.

I appreciate everyone that has offered advice and concern. This is my 7th time with kidney stones and each time hurt like hell, but this time has been the worst due to the size, surgery, and stent.

I'm also still urinating a lot of blood and passing broken stones. I know it will get better in time, but anyone that has had kidney stones knows how awful they are and you want to feel better NOW!! LOL.
