Hey everyone... not been on in ages, really busy! Have 7mls in band now and its great, the restriction is great.. I'm just back from holiday and it was hot, my band didnt let me eat anything until around 7pm, since been home its calmed down loads and I can eat around lunch time now but I can eat only small meals now. Since being banded in last Oct I have lost nearly 3 stone, I have 2 stone to go and thats my goal weight. Just a bit of advice needed though, I am going in for keyhole surgery on 30th June, do I need to get a full defill? Thanks and good luck to all newbies and well done oldies (not literally!!!) -

hey Slinky.. not been on for a while but got a couple of days off so thought I would see how you are getting on with your fill.. do you notice the restriction? I noticed my mine at first but its eased off slightly now. Ive only 5 mls in though. Ive booked for Bangor on 17th Feb (I think its that date) for my 3rd so hopefully will lose more. Ive only lost 2lbs since fill but I dont care as long as I dont put weight on!!! You looked good at the last fill and I noticed from your picture your weight loss, Tell Lynda that she also looked good, even my husband said he could tell the difference.. for a man thats good!! lol Hopefully see you soon its great to get advice from you face to face... To all the ones about to be banded... its hard at first, and I mean hard but nothing in life is easy.. but I promise its so worth it, Im now 3 months banded and it was the best decision of my life.. I didnt say that just after the op but time is a great healer... I love my portion sizes now and even though in the last few months I havent lost much weight, I havent put anything on (even with Christmas and 3 week holiday and thats a first in about 10 years!). Good luck and I hope it goes really well for you all, the girls on this site are great with knowledge!! xxx -

Thanks Slinky, I think sometimes I need a bit of reassurance.... weightloss has stopped, I am on 1 stone and 8 lbs so am really happy with that, I know its because I am not eating enough as everytime I was eating something it was getting stuck... omg it hurt!!!! I have now slowed down completely whilst eating and eating the smallest sizes, I have cut out potatoes totally and they did not agree with me and am just sticking to meat and veg. Think I should start exercising now! lol how yours doing? I am going for next fill in January what about you? xx -

I am 5 weeks post op so didnt think I should get anymore pain. It seemed to have been swollen now for 2 days... thanks everyone -

Claire I am not the least bit experienced in this as I am still on my 4 weeks of puree food, I was banded on 20th October. I think you would be best in waiting for another fill. Are you really happy only eating cup a soups? I thought the band was a tool and not to make us sick. I am not looking forward to going onto solid food as I know its going to be hard, but one thing I do know is that I want to be happy and able to eat small portions and not be sick all the time. You have lost an amazing 43lbs.. that in itself is amazing. try and get used to what is in your band for now and it may settle for christmas and then see about another fill... I do not mind how slow or quick my weight comes off just as long as I stop the yo yo pattern of dieting. I hope you feel better soon and remember 43lbs wow wow wow xxx oh and I am currently eating the tesco soup.. Hungarian goulash or stew and blending it down and omg its gorgeous....... -

good evening.. yeah pain is still there even after a week but its definately gets less and less every day.. its just the gas pains I am getting which are the worst as its effecting my back the most. Ive only just been able to lay on my side in the last few days otherwise it was straight.. which was so annoying. In the morning its worst for me as I feel so weak but I am like you head strong.. I have just starting picking my daughter up she is 19 months and I just cant resist... I had a square of chocolate earlier and just melted it on my tongue yum yum..... I am still really unsure about what I can eat after 10 days.. is it just mushy food? -

Great to hear you feeling better.. yeah got all that pain and am still getting it a week on.. its from the gas they use when they blow you up to operate on.. I am just taking painkillers for it.. codeine work a treat, windeze didnt work for me. bet you cant wait to get home  -

Have you tried your doctor/nurse I got mine free from my nurse.... good luck to your daughter I cant wait to hear its all gone well xx -

Freckles not sure about the cig place but I am sure there is one not far from hotel near the shops... as for pain relief just tell your daughter to keep asking for it.. I am allergic to the pain relief they give you so I could only have paracetamol thats maybe why they were not so good with it. Not feeling too bad this evening just a little discomfort thank god.. good luck to all the new bandsters... remember when you get to hospital walk straight ahead and turn right and in the waiting area take a ticket... I pressed the button with INFO its the last button and wait for yr number on the screen.. There is people from Red Cross sitting in corner of room and they will take you to your room, nurses told me visiting is 12.30 - 8.30. In the ward you have 2 other beds, your own locker with number and in the bathroom you have your own sink and soap (all numbered!!). Just take a towel from the hotel.. a small one as you dont get a shower at hospital..:huh2: -

hi everyone, well was banded on Wednesday and I might say its pretty bloody painful!!! Husband stayed with me until about 10am, he got a taxi back to hotel (cost him 15euro so he walked every other visit - its only 30 min walk but there are loads of road works so taxi takes diversion and this puts cost up!!). I was taken down early as someone didnt turn up.. They all speak good english and must say hospital is spotless... after waking up in recovery I was really sick from GA and morphine.. went back to my bed and just drifted in and out of conscience for rest of day.. hub came back at 5ish (visiting hrs 12.30 - 8.30pm).. the only thing is I didnt expect the pain.. maybe as I have never had an operation before and they are not good at giving you pain relief.. you must go on at them for that.. didnt have a good night but like I said it was lack of pain relief but in the end they gave me more morphine around 3am and I slept.. Dr Chris came and seen me and said how well all had gone (he did visit me earlier also) .. they take alot of blood through the day so be prepared.... I rested the rest of the morning, nurses took my drip out and the tube from my stomach and gave me some water and soup.. taxi was booked by Frederik at 1.30pm (this is all done by him).. I did tell my husband not to come but I am glad he did as I couldnt even carry my own bag.. (by the way didnt need my dressing gown as ward is roasting). Feeling in my chest was pretty bad but its bearable.. flight home was 7am and yeah felt like crap the whole journey but hey I knew I had to do it.. I am so glad I took my husband (and baby!) I think you really need support. The whole experience happened so quick and when I first woke up I felt like what the hell have I done but now the pain is gradually getting better I am starting to think a lot more positive.. The hotel is really basic but clean. When you come out of the hotel turn left and walk straight.. under the train bridge and accross busy road (keep straight) after about 15 mins at most you come to some shops H&M, C&A and Lidl. Walking directions for hospital is when you come to C&A carry on straight round a bendy street as you come to the bend at the end you will see a court with pubs and restaurants in it, cut accross the court, continue to end of that street take a left walk to very bottom of that street and take right half way up that street the hospital is there. Husband says its a nice walk.. Hotel food not so good and expensive.. great pizza and kebab place up the street as if you are going to hospital.. I am still in pain now and finding it hard being on liquids but I am not hungry I think its because I am so used to socially eating its hard not too (if you know what I mean).. I am going to be honest its a big operation and not to be taken lightly, I know everyone is different but please be prepared everyone.. on the good side its a new journey and for once in my life with dieting its one I am bloody going to try my hardest at....Pain relief I am taking now is paracetamol with codeine, this is great but its awful crushing it down.. Just having a hot choc.. yum yum keep the advice coming for me ladies.. I know after 10 days I can go on to blended food, does it have to be really blended or can I just mush it with a fork? good luck everyone who is on there way :blushing: -

Your bank should do it no problem at all.. its called a foreign transfer and you just have to pay a fee, mine was £8.50, they will read some legalities out to you but they should do it, I think they ask because of all this money laundering so just give a simple answer "medical" and they shouldnt ask anymore. I did mine over the phone and it was sent within 2 days I then received a letter confirming what was done... good luck and keep trying.. remember banks have "customer charters" so they are here for the customers and are ment to give the best possible customer service....... (yea yea) lol xxx:rolleyes2: -

thanks you too xxx thanks for all the advice ladies, keep it coming I am learning sooo much. Its great to get all this before I go, it's so much better going with all the knowledge as I feel I will be better prepared. I am flying with Ryanair so the airport is a bit far away, I think we are just getting the train, the only thing is the flight home is really early in morning so think I will more than likely be extremely tired and irritated.. (nothing new then!!). xx -

Hi everyone So its getting sooner for my band, a week on Tuesday, I was nervous at first but after reading stories on this site I am now ready. I am actually looking forward to it. I think for me its not about losing weight quickly, 2lbs a week would be fantastic its about keeping it off and no more yo yo dieting! Im actually fed up having portions the size of my husbands Im just so greedy!!! anyway have cut down on crap last fews days, still having couple of biscuits though . Can I take cup of soups with me? I hate milk so couldnt bear any shakes. xx :puke:
