  1. Oh my goodness... I have so missed everyone! I was going nuts when this site was down. lol I am one week post op today. I weighed myself today and I am down seven pounds. Pretty good I think. I am still on full liquids. I will admit that I have tried a few things, however, i didn't want to push it so I stopped. I have a few questions I hope you can help with. On the not drinking after eating, does this also go with if I want to try a bite of something and then I have to wait another hour for something to drink? What if is nasty? Also I am doing a bunch of burping. I did read where a bunch of people have this. I get to doing it even after a couple drinks of water or anything! It is taken me over two hours to get half a protein drink in me! I haven't even had a fill yet and it is taken this long for a drink, good grief, i can't imagine after a fill! OH My I have been taking gas x everyday and walking a bunch.
  2. Hi everyone, I am so glad to see this dang site back up. I have been at lost! I am one week post-op today. I weighed myself this morning and I am down seven pounds. I thought that was pretty good. A pound a day. I am happy to see the weight come off, even if it is slow. I don't want it to come off super fast!
  3. Tomorrow is the big day! I am starting to finally get those feelings of nerves. I won't call them bad ones. I feel anxious and excited and am looking forward to what is in the future. I just can't believe it is finally going to happen. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning ! I just want to scream and jump and say woo hoo!!!!

    Tomorrow is the big one!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for all the warm wishes! you guys on here are the best! My surgery went well. No problems with the surgery, however it was my own body that gave me problems. I eneded up staying in the hospital due to my bladder. It decided it didn't want to go on it's own. I am feeling better now and I am actually going to the potty on my own now. Just took some time. The pain has not been bad. I had my gallbladder removed some time ago and this pain reminds me of that experience. The getting up is the hard part! I am on the full liquid diet, which i must say has not been bad, however, i must say i really don't have much urge eat.
  5. hi everyone, sorry i haven't posted. I went in on the 16th to be banded, and it went well. The only problem that i had was with my bladder! I had to stay in the hospital overnight because my bladder would not wake up. I finally came home yesterday just to go back to bed. I have slept most of the day! The gas pain is really bad. I have been taking the gas-x and the pain meds. I have to remind myself to drink. I am on the full liquid diet now. Just trying to figure out how they want me to drink every three hours when i have no desire to drink or eat anything?
  6. Hi everyone! I am going in the am for my band! I am so ready! I must say after reading what everyone has been through it has actually helped calm me. I never thought I would say this put Bring on the gas strips! lol
  7. Hello fellow November bandsters... I go in the morning for my band. I have to be there by 7:15 for a 9:15 surgery time. I have so many emotions running around in my head right now... I am excited but anxious all at the same time.. i am just hoping I don't end up messing up anything! silly huh!
  8. Hi folks! I was thinking about playing around tonight with making some protien shakes in my blender with all the samples I have. Well what I was wondering was if I find one that I like and want to make several, how long will they keep in the fridge before going bad? And does the protein lose any of it's effectiveness? I like the idea of having them already done and ready for me to just grap and go. I have tried some of the pre made ones, but I can't stomach some of those! Any ideas and hints would be great! Sorry if this is a repeat of another post. I tried to search before I posted but didn't find anything.

    feel like a failure already!

Hi Purple! When i was reading your comment about wondering if you husband is part of the problem, I was thinking the same thing about mine. Much like you, I am the type of person who is always worring about others and doing what needs to be done to make sure that they are happy, before making sure I am! I honestly do believe that is part of why i have let my weight go. Don't get me wrong, I love my husband but I also know that I have to learn to walk away from his moods and the kitchen! I love the idea of starting a journal. I just have to make sure i let myself have the time to write in it. Just remember that you are not alone. I to have fallen off the pre-op diet and felt like you did, however, tomorrow is another day and always a fresh start! Best of luck to u !
  10. Hi folks!!! Hope all is well. I have to go the dr today for my pre-op visit. I am trying to get together a list of questions to ask him. I have a few already. Like does he fill the band during the surgery or if it will be later. and How long will I be off work. I am stumped on other questions and was wondering if any of you have thought of any. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! :huh2:
  11. I was going thru my papers and found something that I thought was interesting and wanted to share with everyone. My dietician had put a paper in my folder that said to get the unflavored clear metamcil and add it to my protien shakes. It says something about it will help you feel fuller longer. She said that several of her patients have tried this and said it worked. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it?
  12. angieboyd

    Metamucil anyone???

yes it is in the pre-op part of the diet. I tried it today and it seems to have kept me fuller about another thirty minutes or so. :frown:
  13. Hi Everyone! Hope all is well ! I am not sure if this has been posted yet or not, and I know that not everyone's pre-op testing is the same. My question is what did everyone have to do for their pretesting? I go tomorrow for mine and I am just nervous and wondering what is awaiting for me. Thanks for all the feedback!

    Fatty nodules under the skin.

thank you thank you thank you!!!! i thought I was the only person that had those. I feel so much better that i am not the only one.

    pre-op testing

thanks ! i have to go to the hospital where i will be banded at. They told me to be there at six thirty in the morning and to not plan on being out of there until at least one thirty in the afternoon! wow going to be a long day tomorrow
  16. Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. I am starting to get more nervous by the day! Hard to believe that tomorrow is the first of November. I am on the count down starting tomorrow. My surgery is on for the 16th!

    Any Idea's???

    Thank you very much !!!!!!
  18. Hi Everyone!!!! Happy Birthday to all folks with birthdays this month! Hope you have a great one! I go today to my dr for my pre-op visit. Any questions that I should ask that anyone can think of? Any idea's would be great. I feel like my head is spinning and I go to write them down and they go right out the window. lol HELP please! :huh2:
  19. Yes I am going to be having mine done on 11-16. I am excited! I do the same thing you have done with the dressing up. I may look comfortable on the outside but on the inside I cringe! I have been told by many that I never look as heavy as what I say I am. People tell me "you carry your weight well", I have yet to figure out what they mean by that! lol
  20. Yeah I am not sure about that either. I thought the same thing. That is one of the things that my doctor wants me to drink, but like you I was thinking it was low. I won't agrue some of it though, as it is not nasty. lol But I also drink other protein drinks to make sure i am gettnig what I need.
  21. I hope you are right Annie. Sometimes I eat just to eat. I don't know if that is because I am just so used to eating. I keep myself busy now to take my mind off of food. I won't lie and say that I don't miss my food, because I do. But when i really want something I let myself have it. Not like before when I would almost always eat till I was so full and miserable. I keep telling myself not much longer and I will finally have the tool I need to help me with this mess.
  22. Got the news today. November 16th is when I will be banded and will finally be able to say I am on my way to a new and healthy me. Hard to imagine that is less then a month away and I know that time will fly. I have my appts set up for the pre-op testing (although not sure what that consist of yet) I am so happy to have found this site. It has been a hugh help.

    November 16th= A new me!

Hi Jen, I haven't found out for sure, but from what I have been told my pre-op diet is not all liquid. I am sure hoping not! I need something in my tummy! It growls really loud. But on a more serious side, if that is what the dr says then I will do it. I go see him on the 25th so then I will know for sure, however I have been told that his is normally three cib drinks a day, two frozen meals under 300 calories and 2 cups of fresh veggies a day.
  24. Thanks Annie, and your right it will be the first time I will actually want to go shopping! lol I believe i will find out for sure on the 25th what my pre-op diet is. I have been told by the dietician that it is normally three cib sugar free drinks a day, two frozen meals under 300 calories and up to 2 cups a fresh veggies a day. I hope that is it. I can handle that. That is what I have been doing now. lol
  25. Hi, I must say that after reading your post I almost thought we had been friends before! lol First I will tell you that I don't believe you are insane. I believe you are stuck in a cycle much like the rest of us. We have all at some point done all the diets and exercise, just to watch some of the weight come off, and only to have it go right back on. For some of use even more then what we lost. I am 34 and I am 5'3 and am currently at my highest weight of 250. I have looked into this now for almost two years. I have thought to myself(and often) it is all in my head; i can do this I just have to stick with it. I may not always stick to the exercise for thirty minutes a day, but I do continue to eat the healthy way and exercise. AND it is still there. I am a mom with three active girls. They go from 16-8. I have a husband who I won't say is not supportive but is scared that I "won't look right" skinny. I am not doing this to be skinny. I am doing this to get my life back. And like Purple said, at some point we have to stop the cycle. It is up to you to decide when that is. I hope you find what you need to stop your's. I know this can be scary, but just look at what you will gain!
