  1. Dr. Cerabona does some office hours in Duchess, I think. I can't gush enough about him and his practice--the insurance folks are AMAZINGLY helpful, the dieticians are great, the PA is super-responsive, and their pre-op info and testing is so much more thorough than the other docs I saw. Definitely worth the trip, IMHO--hell, I flew from los angeles!

  2. There seems to be a variance depending on whether you see him through O-band or his own practice. I had originally planned to do my surgery with him because he's got such great PR, but my experience with his office--phone calls never returned, or returned a week later, weak help with insurance--turned me off, as well as what seemed like a pretty casual attitude toward pre-op testing and information. The doctor I finally went with had me get cardio clearance, pulmonary clearance, h. pylori test, etc. etc. Liu only did a blood test.

Nice guy, but if I can't get him on the phone BEFORE surgery, I didn't have much comfort about getting him on the phone if there was a problem.

  3. Hi Susan--hope I can get added to the july list. i was banded on the 14th in NY by the wonderful Dr. Cerabona. Things have been just fine--some gas, almost no soreness after day 2, and some fatigue from the limited number of calories. also, after getting banded, i keep having these dreams where i eat something then suddenly remember about the band--pretty funny.

    hope everyone's doing well!

  5. hi there,

i was banded monday july 14. regarding your concerns about your independence, here are the things i have and haven't had trouble with: i underestimated how tired i would be from the incredibly small number of calories i can get down. i've slept about 14 hours a day since monday. stairs are no problem, except for the fatigue (i'm 210 lbs.). walking my dog is no problem, but she's 15 lbs. and not a puller. i tried walking my dad's dog, 40 lbs and a puller, and it was too much. you definitely can't lift anything over 10-15 lbs.--garbage, pets, backpacks, etc.--for two weeks, so small, frequent garbage runs would be wise.

in short, i think you'll be just fine, but factor in the fatigue and reduce your calendar to let you rest a lot.
