  1. Sugar makes me feel sick too. I still can only eat very small amounts at ten months out. I pretty much stick to water to drink. Hopefully you will feel better soon. I think your weight loss is looking great. Everyone loses at their own pace, so don't stress too much. I have never been successful at losing weight and keeping it off until now. You will get there, just be patient.
  2. Hugs Coops. You are such an inspiration and support to all of us on this forum. You have already come this far, so you shouldn't stop now. Hopefully they can get the hormone issue worked out, so you can reach your dreams. We love ya and we know you can get there!
  3. Try tracking your calories, carbs, and protein. Make sure you are not taking in too many or too few calories. You may need to low carb it. That is what I am doing right now due to some very slow weight loss lately. Don't give up. We are here to help you!

    Where do you find motivation?

Your weight loss is amazing! Way to go. I belong to the YMCA and I love the classes there, especially spinning. The teachers are great and they motivate me to go. I also do the couch to 5 K program if I am to busy to make it to the Y.

    Sleeved On November 9

Congrats on your sleeve! I know it is hard now, but once you are able to see the true benefits of the sleeve (new clothes, tons of compliments, feeling great), you will know why you did this. Crying is completely normal with all the hormones that are released from the fat cells. You will see very soon why the sleeve is so awesome! Best wishes.
  6. Yay! It is rough at first, but it REALLY DOES get better each and every day. Drinking hot drinks always made me feel better in the beginning. I wish you a speedy recovery and LOTS of weight loss!

Eating Out -- What Do You Eat?

I never order an entire meal. I tend to overeat when I do and feel sick. I order items a la carte or share with my hubby if he is there. I order a cup of soup a lot too. Some restaurants are WLS friendly. Red Lobster will let you just order a side of crab legs if you tell them you are a WLS patient. The hard part of eating out for me is all in my head. I "think" I want to order a normal portion, but I just can't eat it. I know to just order the smaller portions since I am not a big fan of leftovers. The waiters can be a big pain though! They always think something is wrong. It gets annoying to deal with.
  8. Awesome!!! I had my surgery last December. You are going to do great!

I have embraced a new GOAL!!

    That's just amazing!!!
  10. If you get a stomach bug in the beginning, it is very hard on your body because you are still healing and there is lots of swelling still. As time goes on, it is pretty much the same. You just have to get in lots of fluids. I got sick with one awhile back and found that I had MAJOR restriction from not really eating for a couple of days. I wouldn't stress about it too much.

    Vsg Regrets? Why?

NONE!!! I just wish I hadn't wasted my time getting the band and had the sleeve instead. The sleeve has been one of the best decisions of my life!
  12. Most hospitals will work out a payment plan. I was billed for most things, but the hospital wanted their portion up front. They would have allowed me to make payments if I couldn't have paid it then. I had a $3,000 deductible so I understand. It is a great investment!!!
  13. I am glad you are making this decision when you are young. You will have time to really enjoy it! The only regret I have about the sleeve is not having it sooner. Good luck. Your mom will come around. Sometimes you have to just do what is best for you.

    Confession Time

Popcorn is my biggest problem! I can eat lots of it and so when I am stressed I find myself eating it. I now have to limit myself to the 100 calorie bags.
  15. I hope you feel better. Sorry you are going through this.

    Been Around a While

Thanks for sharing your story. I am so sorry about your mom, but I know she is happy you are now going to have your sleeve. This is finally your time to take care of you. We are always here for you. I will be sending positive thoughts your way! You will do awesome.

    Weightloss: Am I Slacking?

I think you are doing awesome! We are all different and we are going to lose at different paces. Celebrate losing 80+ pounds and keeping it off! I don't think you should replace meals with shakes. Shakes just go right through your sleeve. It's better to eat real protein and get restriction. Congrats on doing so great! I am a December sleever too! ; )
  18. Welcome!!! I had a revision, too. The first few weeks are the worst. I sometimes even still get a throbbing pain where my port used to be. The sleeve is great and it works. Good luck!!!
  19. I am from Houston! I am ten months post op and would love to start a group. My doc was Dr. Nowzaradan, a revision specialist, since I used to have the band.
  20. Thanks everyone. Great tips! I really like the idea of working out. I am going to do that for sure even though I usually don't work out on holidays. Thanksgiving is just full of so much good food and I know I need to have a game plan.
  21. So I will be celebrating my first Thanksgiving sleeved next week. For some reason, I am very nervous about it! All that food that I love will be there. Even though I am ten months out, I would like to know if any of you have any tips for surviving holiday meals. I am so close to my goal and I don't want to walk away with a gain. Thanks!
  22. Good luck Dave! I feel like cheated too since I self paid for my band. The sleeve is awesome though! Worth every penny!!! It works and I wish you the best.
