    Surgery day stories

There are lots of great videos on Youtube that give great information on the surgery before, during, and after.

    Need some support!

I completely understand. People who do not have weight issues don't understand that we need this surgery to get well. Hugs!
  4. Can anyone tell me what causes leaks in the sleeve? Is it surgical error or can the patient cause them by not eating correctly after surgery? I just am trying to learn all I can before my revision. Thanks!
  5. Well, the band is pretty easy to not work with! It has a mind of it's own.
  6. Thanks for this message! I really needed to hear this as some people in my life try to talk me out of the surgery. I know this is the right decision for ME and that's all that really matters. You are a great cheerleader!
  7. I went to Dr. Arturo Rodriguez. You will do great though! Congrats on your surgery.

    Gallstones after surgery?

I read that there is a medicine you can take to prevent gallstones. Does anyone know about this? I plan to ask my surgeon when I see him next.

    terrified!

Hi there, I am in the same situation as you are. My band is broken and my doctor wants me to have the sleeve. Everyone is against it mainly because they feel it is dangerous to remove part of the stomach. Looking back, I think it is dangerous to have a foreign object in your body like the band. I wish I just had the sleeve to begin with! I am always here to talk to if you need someone. I totally understand what you are going through!

    20 lbs. GONE

Congrats! Your success really does give those of us who are waiting to be sleeved lots of hope!
  11. Which Dr. Rodriguez? I had my band by Dr. Rod three years ago.
  12. Let us know how your surgery went. Dr. Now is my doc, too!

  13. I think you are making a wise choice to go with the sleeve. I don't know what I was thinking puttig a device in my body that doesn't belong there. I am in pain now from broken tubing in my body. I can't wait for my revision. Good luck with your journey!
  14. HELLO! I do have a band, and the tubing is cracked and broken off. I haven't had restriction in over a year, which has allowed me to gain back about 25 pounds of the 70 I had lost. My doctor could have fixed my band, but he said that it just isn't worth it and wants me to have the sleeve. I will be relieved to not worry about fills anymore. At first, I was pretty scared of having it done, but now I am excited. I just want to do all I can to avoid any complications. I am a little worried of problems since we are at higher risk with a revision. I will go back to my surgeon on Octboer 27 and I will find out my date then. I am having preop testing and meeting with the nutritionist now. Keep us posted on how you are doing and I wish you the best on your surgery date!
  15. You can really tell that you are losing in your new pics! Yay!

    Houston Texas Vertical Sleeves.

I am from Houston and having surgery with Dr. Nowzaradan.
  17. Hi Newbie! I am in the same situation. My band has failed(slip and dislocated tubing) and I am getting the sleeve. My doctor said he could fix my band, but there was an 85% chance it would slip again. I just don't want to take that risk. I am not getting much support either from those I have told. I am not discussing it with others anymore because I can't stand people WITHOUT weight problems telling me why my decision is wrong. Why are people so negative when I am just trying to get well! I am so glad to hear of so many successful revisions! This forum has been such an great support for me as no one else knows what this is like but us!

    First AFTER pics

    Happy Birthday! You look great!
  20. I made a HUGE mistake telling co-workers about my surgery. I kind of had to because my doctor requires three weeks off for a revision in most cases. I am just a little sick of thin people telling me that I can just lose weight with exercise and diet. Ummm....no. I was working out at one point EVERY DAY taking spinning class, yoga, etc. and hit a plateau. I have had weight problems since I was young, too. I just tell them now that I am having my lapband taken out and that is it. I don't mention the sleeve and refuse to talk about it. It's just not worth the frustration!

    In Mexico being sleeved tomorrow!

    Best wishes!!!

    Wish me luck.

    Good luck!!!!
  23. There are many with band issues. I did manage to lose 70, but put 25 back on when my tubing cracked. I will probably continue to gain all my weight back if I don't do something. I won't lie that I'm a little scared about this surgery, but I have a very experienced surgeon and the support of my sleeve friends here. December needs to hurry up so I can stop worrying and just do this!
