  1. Hey there,

How long are you takiing off? I guess we will really be in this together!

  2. My surgery date did have to be moved to December 27! On the bright side, I will not be in recovery mode on Christmas Day. What is one more week?

  3. This has been my personal experience with the band and why I am getting rid of it. I was banded 3 1/2 years ago. My band worked alright, although it was hard work for me to lose weight. I had to exercise five times a week and the way the band worked was frustrating. It was tight in the morning, but at night it was loose and I could eat whatever I wanted. Then I stopped having restriction altogether due to a leak. I was able to eat what I wanted and I gained much of the weight I lost back. Next, I started having SEVERE pain in my stomach area that migrated to my right side. I went to the ER after days of this pain. They did a scan and found that my lapband slipped and that the tubing broke off. Right now the tube is poking me all over causing pain and I am so thankful for my upcoming revision to get rid of the band. Look at the LONG TERM statistics of the band. I believe most have to have a secondary surgery to remove or fix the band within ten years. There is lots of maintance with the band for fills and other tests. I hope my experience can help you make the best decision for YOUrself! Good luck~
  4. so due to an insurance glitch, my surgery date is more than likely going to change. : (

    PHOTO UPDATE!!!

    You look fabulous! Congrats girl!
  6. I hope you feel better. My heart goes out to you, as I know I would do the same thing! I hope are able to rest and heal. Positive thoughts!!!
  7. I would get a second opinion or see if you can get an ultrasound to verify if you are pregnant or not. They usually run another pregnancy test right before surgery, so that could be a big problem on your surgery day if you don't clear it up. Good luck with everything!

    When to tell???

I know it is such a big decision of when to tell and who to tell. I have so been there and I do regret saying anything to certain people in my life because of the negative comments. I honestly don't know if telling your family the night before surgery is a good idea. They might say something that could really upset you and you don't want to be stressed when going in for surgery. Of course, I understand if you feel this is the best time to tell them. I wish you the best. I think the main issue is that you are doing this for your health. It is your decision to make and in the end, you have to do what is right for you.
  10. Hi Houston friend! I wish you the best with your surgery! So excited for you. : )

  11. Hi all, I am trying to get the basics bought before my surgery. I have had so much advice on what Protein items to buy that I am now totally confussed! I don't want to waste money on a bunch of Protein shakes I won't like. I am thinking of buying the protein shots. Can anyone tell me what worked for them the first few weeks and why? I would appreciate it!

    Diet Carbonated Drink

I believe that carbonation can be painful at first while you are healing. There are many who say they drink carbonated drinks after surgery (altough our doctors say not to). One thing you can do is to mix Diet Dp (or whatever you like) with vanilla Protein mix to make a float. The blender will take the carbonation out. I used to do that when I first had my lapband and it was really good. I'm sure other sleevers will chime in! I also love my Diet Dp, so I totally understand!
  16. only 8 days left until I am sleeved! Heading to the store to finish Christmas shopping since I can't shop from the hospital! LOL

  17. I love how one of my major complications isn't listed....the tubing breaks off and pokes you wherever it feels like moving causing extreme pain and infection. Hmmm....
