I had my surgery on the 6th of august I'm doing great I say that because I survived the liquid diet lol. There was a moment I didn't think I would lol.. Anyways I am late for my menstruation. I'm positive I'm not pregnant. Someone suggested that this was because my body was trying to hold on to everything because I'm not giving it as much nutrients as before? I was wondering how true is this and if any other women have gone threw this after surgery? I'm going to ask my doctor when next I see her but would like some info before that if possible. And just to update I've lost 24lbs total feel great and loving my new energy
i was banded on jan 20th,2011 and have been getting my periods every other month.so my guess is that its normal

I had surgery June 29. I was supposed to start my period a week after surgery, instead I started the day after surgery,I haven't had one since. The thing is I feel like I'm about to start for the past week I've been cramping and just getting that feeling of doom. Yet nothing has happened. What the Hell? Any others go through something similar?
i was banded jan 20th,and have been getting my period every other month since,so i guess its normal to have irregular periods

I won't be having my surgery until November (really frustrated by the wait!), but I wanted to put my 2 cents in and hopefully, help some of you! For many years, since I've gained weight, I have suffered with awful rashes (maybe even yeast infections) under my stomach where skin touches skin. I also get rashes in my groin area and sometimes under my breast. For years I have used one product that clears it up fast. -- really fast! It is Gold Bond powder (not the cream). Recently, while in the dollar store, I saw a copycat of Gold Bond and decided to try it -- and it worked great! I know that many of you have this problem and I hope you try it. Let me know how it works for you. Lynne
i get them also, but i went to my doctor and got a antibiotic ointment that clears it right up,but then its back again a few days later

whats the rule for coffee? when can we have it? what about wine?
go ahead and have your coffee, the reason the doc says not to have it is because it can dehydrate you and irritate your belly, but if you can handle it,go right ahead.i have my coffee every morn and i have no problems.test it and see how it affects you

I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and I've had three seperate times now where I have ate til I am sooo uncomfortably full.. Tonight I hit the fast food and I bought LOTS of food. Basically like I would of prior to surgery for a binge. I ate a lot, I'm surprised at what and how much I can get down. Of course now I sit here so full and feel horrible and regret it. Why am I doing this to myself? I was a self-pay so I'm shocked that my "old" behaviors are already tempting me and I'm acting on them. I've been able to eat very well since week 2. I'm able to take in over 2 cups of food at one time. I'd type in what I ate tonight but honestly I'd be embarassed at the amount. I'm just wondering if for ONE there is something wrong with me that I'm able to eat LARGE amounts right now?? Is anyone else able to do this before their first fill? Any encouragement or beat downs? Advice?
I will say this.... just found out my divorce is final. My car broke down and I need 4,000 bucks for a transmission and my now ex-husband is acting like a player and dating a lot of girls and they all think he is prince charming and it hurts. All this equals wanting to punish or hurt myself with food and instead of doing what I shouldn't do... I'm doing it. Just feel lost, alone and helpless right now.
well if it helps any,i have totally sabataged myself these pat few weeks(emotional eating)due to some issues i am having.i dont eat alot at one sitting, just through out the day and eating things i shouldnt, like cheese cake that i bakede last week.i'm not one to talk right now,but try to have a little more willpower.
goodluck you

i have misicare and i had a 6 month nothing....i did have to lose a few lbs,but that was too shrink the liver in prep for the surgery.and of course you need all those appointments to get cleared.however my surgery was medically needed
oops,thats medicare

As I am sure some of you may know that Medicare has a 6 months exclusion from doing the surgery. In this 6 months they require doctor controlled diet. Well my question is has anyone on Medicare had the 6 months Dr. diet exclusions waived? And if you did what did you do to get it waived. All help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Sal

hello all, sorry if this is in the wrong topic, but I finally found a doctor in NJ willing to take me since I moved from CA. I'm going for an unfill next week and am thinking about bringing a boiled egg with me!! I want to make sure I can eat that, since right now the only thing I can tolerate is yogurt.
why on earth would you do that when you know you have to be on liquids for a day or 2 after the fill>?

i went out to eat 2 weeks ago and could fit into a booth, with room to spare.i felt like a million bucks....

So I am 6 days post opp, doing well. Most of the gas pain has subsided from my shoulder area. I have been on liquids and full liquids, so my DH bought me a small/baby sized shaved ice today. I decided to go ahead and eat it! Boy was it yummy and my tummy tolerated it just fine? Seems like a good way to get more liquids down? So why not sugar? Was this bad? Why is everything on the list sugar free? Not that it would be smart to OVER indulge on sugar like Koolaid but whats the reasoning?
sugar has empty calories thats why...we dont need them we have enough trouble getting the calories that we need
will medicare cover
