I don't drink much but it's ok in moderation. Besides the fact that it's fattening, you don't want to risk getting sick and throwing up. So I say, go for it, have fun, just be careful.

Congrats! You'll be fine.

I wish you all the luck in the world. Keep fighting the disease and don't be scared about losing the band. You need to get well. Good luck!

Let's see if I can make sense when I ask this question. I'm going for my 2nd fill on 2/1. After I had my 1st last month I felt fairly good restriction for a couple of weeks. Now as I get closer to the 2nd one I can see already that I'm eating a lot more. I know that everyone says sometimes it takes 3, 4 or 5 fills before they reach their sweet spot, but once you reach it how does it not stretch out anymore. I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say. If I stretch out after the 1st why won't I stretch out after the 4th?

I'm going for my 2nd fill on Thursday and it seems just like last time that as my fill gets closer I start sabotaging myself by eating like an animal. I can still eat so much. For instance, today I had 3 eggs for breakfast, ham for lunch, 2 slices of pizza for dinner and an apple in between. It doesn't even make me sick to eat this much. (Well, not physically anyway.) I don't weigh myself ever. Only when I go to the doctor and I'm so afraid of looking at that scale. Can anyone still eat this much and does anyone sabotage themselves like I do? I'm really feeling overwhelmed and could use the advice. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for your support...It's a struggle but I'll keep moving forward. Jacqui - when were you banded? It's great that you've lost almost all your weight. It's good to know you can eat that much and still lose. My food choices were great up until I knew my fill was coming and that's when I started eating like crap again. I lose the weight and then when fill time comes I start putting some back on....

Hernia repair with lapband?
shutuplena replied to clickersister's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my surgeon did both at the same time. -
Wow! You're getting banded on Valentine's Day. What a nice gift. I don't know anything about your doctor but I just wanted to say congratulations and good luck. Keep us posted on your progress.

Which brand of gas medicine do you prefer for post-op gas?
shutuplena replied to thatgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GAS-X GAS-X GAS-X (Preferably the strips that melt in your mouth.) Good luck tomorrow. You'll do great. -
It is very normal, especially if you haven't had a fill yet. I had 1 fill so far and I still eat almost like before. It takes time and I know you feel discouraged, but try not to. It'll be ok.

There's nothing easy about trying to quit smoking or any other habit for that matter. I quit smoking 15 years ago and I must tell you that "quitting eating" is much harder than quitting smoking was. You can do this and you should start now so that when April rolls around you won't be going through too many things at once. It's normal to be scared and nervous but you have to quit smoking no matter what you read here. You have to kick one habit at a time and you have to start with smoking. Good luck! It's rough but you can do it.

Finally recovered from tummy tuck & Breast Lift
shutuplena replied to spldgrl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
That's so exciting! Congratulations and try to post before and after pictures. I'd love to see how I might look someday. Great job! -
I'd say go for it, just be very careful you don't get carried away! Enjoy!

That is so funny because I am just the opposite. After my surgery I haven't been that gassy at all. Carbs always gave me gas so now that I hardly eat any starchy carbs my gas has subsided. Protein just makes me a little constipated.

I'm 5'2" and weighed 213. With your high blood pressure I can't imagine the doctor telling you that you don't weigh enough. Regular doctors told me that too but when I finally went to my surgeon, he's the one who finally told me I was a candidate. Sometimes primary care physicians don't realize what the requirements are for this surgery. Don't get discouraged if yours tells you you're not. Just keep trying. Good luck.

Gallstones and lap band
shutuplena replied to beckymit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Beckymit You're very welcome. Everything will go fine. You'll be so excited you won't even have time to think about your gallbladder. Good luck again! -
Gallstones and lap band
shutuplena replied to beckymit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder removed at the same time and also a hernia repair. My recovery period seemed to be within the same range as those who only had the band done so I don't think the removal of the gallbladder increased or decreased my recovery time at all. Good luck on the 5th. -
Spicey foods don't bother me at all. I just can't eat garlic powder anymore for whatever reason.

Do you still enjoy food the same?
shutuplena replied to Astrotoes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't eat red meat anymore. Just isn't enjoyable and too hard to get down. I still haven't fully adjusted to my new way of eating. I still miss it very much. But I keep moving forward. -
Thanks LapBandit, it makes much more sense now.

pre lap band surgery diet slip ups
shutuplena replied to sumlike2h8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I ate everything in sight before my surgery. Dr. said nothing you can do will shrink your liver especially within a few weeks. Don't worry to much. -
I knew I had a fatty liver prior to surgery and when I asked about reducing it with a certain diet before surgery the doctor said NO - nothing you can do a couple of weeks before surgery will help skrink your liver. He did tell me to just eat wisely and not to binge.
-
My surgeon warned me that they test for drugs 1 week prior to surgery. So I knew when to quit what! I've never heard of anyone else's surgeon require that but mine did. Ask yours. Mine made it very clear that if I tested positive he would not do the surgery.

I should be seeing someone to get to the root of my over-eating. But I don't. I was banded on 11/14 and still miss eating a lot. Some days are worse than others. I have heard too that people turn to alcohol, drugs, etc. because when you think about it, you're just taking on another habit to replace the one you gave up - FOOD!
-
It should be ok. Just go slow and chew good. Congrats on your surgery!
