  1. First Fill today - 5.6 ccs! I'm well on my way. 24 lbs down!

  2. Good Evening my band friends! I have a question. I am on Mushys now as I have had no complications and feel GREAT! (Banded 11/22) My question is this... I know back preband - if I dieted hardcore - my stomach would 'shrink' or seem to as if I tried to eat regular again - I would feel full quicker. For example if you're sick for a few days and you don't eat and then your first meal after feeling better, you'd eat half the amount as normal. Okay so I'm eating eggs and stuff and I feel sick if I go over a certain amount. If I eat more than a cup of food, I feel so overstuffed. (Like eating a whole dinner at Olive Garden - Pasta heavy feeling) Oh and I promise - I haven't eaten pasta. But I do love oatmeal. If I try to eat a whole packet - I feel really really full. I know typically we don't have any restriction until the first fill and a few fills after that. So is this 'only eating a cup at a time' thing just a case of the 'stomach shrinkage' or is it actual restriction? Thanks in advance...
  3. I would be filing a complaint with the state. That's horrible. I am so sorry you were treated that way. Absolutely disgusting. File a complaint with everyone you can find. Go to the CEO of the hospital if you have to. Let everyone know that you were neglected. It makes me so sick.
  4. 18 LBS! SEE YA! I won't miss you!

Nov. 22nd Bandsters, how are you doing?

Great job Everyone! I'm down 18 lbs total! I'm excited! I went back to work and I feel great. No problems whatsoever. Trying to do the pureed thing but my apetite definitely wants mushies already so I've tried eggs. They were awesome! I agree Wakeup- I forget to eat slowly but haven't had any real problems. Its just so much to remember. I chopped 8 inches off my hair because I decided if I had to take so much time to measure my food - my hair needed to be easy peasy! I'm proud of you 11/22ers! And others. We're really doing it!

    I'm lost......

Tigger- so sorry you're not happy. I can understand how scared you'd be because I'd be nervous too. Does your office have dietitians or anyone else - a nurse practitioner who can make you feel better about this? Who can walk you through and give you some information? Did you try cough syrup? I mean since it's liquid and it would cure the cough - I would consider it. Could you call your general practitioner?
  7. I hope your Banding went okay! I know that first day I was so exhausted and in pain so I hope you're doing better and I promise - it gets better each day by leaps and bounds... 1 week out and I feel almost normal again. Just take your time, go slow, enjoy whatever help you can get. Let me know how you're doing when you feel up to it!

    Yummy Mushy Food Idea!

I wonder if that's typical!? I don't think they mentioned this to me?... I'll have to go check my reference book now.
  9. So I'm trying to get 60 grams of protein in a day which is so difficult. So I was at GNC on Friday planning to buy a ton of Isopure drinks which have 40grams and over 2.00 per bottle. But I saw this little 4oz tube that says 42grams of protein. 0 sugar. 0 fat. So I bought every single one they had. I still have to do a shake as well to make 60 but this is an awesome little product that gives me 42 of my 60 grams. The downside is that it taste horrible. It's sour and yuck... but I only have to drink 3.4 oz of the stuff so 3 big gulps and it's done. They are available online too or maybe your local GNC has them they were only .87 cents a piece!

GREAT product for Protein that I found!

Thanks for the advice! I'll keep that in mind. I can't eat anything right now so these are just going to hold me over while I'm on the puree/mush diet and then hoping to eat my protein!
  11. I love your profile picture!~ You're both so beautiful!

  12. So funny we both thought of pureeing lasagna on the same night! Kindred spirits!

    Yummy Mushy Food Idea!

Gotmyeyes! IT's soooo funny that you posted this! I was getting on tonight to post that tonight: I pureed lasagna. I was making dinner for my family and was feeling sad because I miss eating with them. So I took out the noodles and pureed the meat and the sauce and the cheese! It was awesome! I was full after 4 baby spoon bites but it was so good and plan on having the rest for dinner tomorrow. Great minds, huh?
  14. I agree with Dadkins 100%. So many changes were going through and I think it's normal to be a little regretful in these early, evolving, painful stages. But if you play your cards right - I promise you - it will ALL Be worth it when the results come. So try to motivate yourself in whatever way does it for you. Also don't feel bad lamenting. I think it's normal behavior at this point. I've been there.

GREAT product for Protein that I found!

It's called New whey. Here's a link:http://www.fitness-connection.com/New-Whey-42-IDS-p/new-whey.htm Be careful who you buy from because I read on Amazon that some people say they have it in stock but do not.
  16. Tigger - I have the same questions as you about getting the 64 oz in but not drinking within 3 minutes before or after 6 meals a day? I would be sipping water all day and my stomach just wont allow that. So I'm confused by the whole process too! As for what else I pureed- Greenbeans, carrots, and peaches (the best). All good stuff. Only for one weak second did I think about pureeing a hostess cupcake in whipped cream! Ha Ha... the old me showing through
  17. I worked from home the day after my surgery... but that wasn't bad at all. I mostly returned client emails and put out a few fires. I worked pretty normal on Wednesday. Went Black Friday Shopping all night on Thursday-Friday. (With many breaks and took a chair with me just to watch 'the show'.) I'm heading back to the office on Monday full time, but I feel pretty good. I can take it easy and handle it all fine. I agree though - not everyone's body is going to be ready. I have had it pretty good and may even be pushing it a little far so if you're not ready in a week... take as long as you need. It's a marathon - not a race! Good Luck this week! My tummy is physically growling for the first time today...it's weird. Good Note: Down 15 lbs!
  18. 15 lbs down! Wahoo! I'm celebrating today. (Carefully, slowly,)

    Incision Infection

So sorry to hear this news! I can so feel your frustration right now. I would be going insane too. And angry and wow... I just can't imagine. I hope it's a quick and easy heal and you're able to move on from this. Be strong from this set back and I'll be thinking of you!
  20. Hey I've started a LBT group so that we can all easily keep in touch while we go on this crazy ride together. [/b] http://www.lapbandtalk.com/groups/november-2010-bandsters.html[/s] Join up and come on in! Good Luck to everyone who had or is having their surgery this month. We are brave - doing it all during the holiday season. Have a great day EDIT. With the site upgrade - they've deleted the group. Here's our best chance. Please add to your favorites to keep in touch http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forum/2468-november-10-bandsters/
  21. I am with you guys. I can't believe the frustration that comes without the convenience of just being able to heat up a grilled cheese sandwhich or open a bag or potato chips or watching my family eat dinner and feeling left out. It is depressing but it's surely not forever. I am counting down to Christmas (when I'll be on a regular, but smaller diet) and we all know the short 4 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas go fast. That's what we are here for - moral support. Feel free to PM me or email me if you want to talk or discuss what you're going through and if all your aches and pains and problems are shared with others. I'm thankful for people who are going through this with me! Tonight, I made the simplest dinner and it was pretty good. I took a can of chicken breast and half a can of cream of chicken soup and pureed it. I put some away for tomorrow and warmed up some and it was good. Probably the best thing I've had since I was banded and very thin. I also pureed some other stuff to last me through the weekend. I'm trying to be hopeful and we can see that far ahead now but one day this will all be worth it! PS. I, too, went Black Friday shopping and think I over did it. Both surgery wise and money wise!! It's dangerous out there!
  22. I haven't had that issue yet. I just have some slight pain behind my sternum where the band is. I think it's because I eat too fast. i'm on purees already though. Good Luck!

  23. How did everyone handle Thanksgiving?
  24. My abdomen is swollen and uncomfortable especially after I drink. Is this normal? It's swollen all the time (sticking out a bit like I'm pregnant) and discomfort comes after I drink. Did everyone else have this and what did you do about it? How bad? When did it go away? Did you do something to help it? Thank you in advance.

When will I feel normal again?

I have a feeling that normal is a long way off for us if we ever get back to what we knew as 'normal' again. Quite possibly we don't want to go back there. Maybe it's just all these changes talking but it sure is different this side of the band. I will say that we are in a transition period so that's going to happen as long as we are healing and getting used to all the changes in our bodies. I don't have an extreme amount of pain or anything. My issue lies in my head saying 'you have to eat!' and my stomach saying 'stop feeding me!' I am not doing well at pacing myself and listening to my body and I'm paying for it dearly. I think in 2-3 weeks we should have a good routine going and hopefully some what of the learning curve shaved, but then we'll move onto mushies and there will be new changes and then new regulars and then new changes and then waiting for proper restriction and new changes with that. We'll be evolving for a while. Maybe 6 months from now - we will get it all down the way we wanted it to be.
