  1. From the album: My four legged furry family :)

Morgan is a wonderful and caring dog. This picture was taken right after she had donated blood. (shaved area on her neck) She saved the life of a mama boxer who had 7 puppies, and was bleeding internally. Mama boxer recovered, and all the puppies survived. Yay Morgan!!!!

    Don't like the new LBT!

You can get rid of most of the ads by going to the bottom of the page, and on the bottom left hand side, in the bar, there is a drop down menu, and has the option of LapBandTalk and LBT mobile. Change it to the mobile, then back to the LapBandTalk, and it completely reformats, and removes all the ads.
  4. Hmmm.. my pictures are sideways, and I can't get them to turn the right way around.... Sorry!!
  5. I love to walk the intercostal causeway here in Florida. You can normally get a great breeze, and there are always dolphins surfacing and playing in the water. Only thing better is to get out there on a kayak!!

    BodyMedia BW

Well, I just sucked it up, and ordered one. I got the Bluetooth version so that I can keep track on my iPhone. It's on backorder, so I'll have to wait a few weeks.. BOO!!
  7. I chose the band because, like a few others said, I didn't want my insides re-routed, have the malabsorption and malnutrition issues either, so right away, RNY wasn't even an option. Also didn't want to have to worry about leaks along the suture line with the sleeve. I was self pay, and the surgeon I chose did the band, and the sleeve for 12,500 inclusive for either. It was the reversibility of the band, and the possibility for pregnancy that sealed the deal for me. My DH and I tried for 5 years to get pregnant, with no luck due to my size, and the PCOS that came with it. I want to be healthier, and loose the weight so that I can have kids. ...and that's my 2 cents as to why I chose the band.
  8. My doctor kinda goes by this chart.. but it all has to do with how much you are able to eat, and how long it takes to get hungry afterwards.

    Time off work?

I had my surgery on a Tuesday, and went back the following Thursday. I have a moderately heavy job (standing 10-12 hours a day as a Veterinary Technician, and lifting animals) and only ended up working 1/2 the day, as I was exhausted. The Friday went much better, and after the weekend, I was pretty much back to normal. I had 9 days off officially.
  10. Not sure if you are willing to go up a little or a little further in distance, but Dr. Domkowski in Sebastian Fl. (about 3 1/2 hours from you) does both the Lap-Band® or the Sleeve for $12,500 inclusive, including a year of fills a follow up. Great staff, and he is very very nice, with a very empathetic attitude and great bedside manner. The Cost - Riverside Surgical and Weight Loss Center
  11. Well, got the Kinect for the Xbox 360 today. Looks like its going to be a lot of fun, and a GREAT way to get up and moving. The game that came with it, has you up and jumping, and all over the place. Lots of fun so far. Have a Biggest Loser Ultimate workout arriving tomorrow, and the Zumba game will be delivered when it comes out. That one I'm REALLY looking forward to! :frown:
  12. Well, just watching my husband doing the 30 minute fitness test on the Biggest Looser game, and he is panting. Bob keeps asking how he is doing, as there is voice command, and if you are having a problem, you can just say so. There is a little camera / topographical version of him on the screen, and if he doesn't do the exercise right, he gets told! Pretty cool really.
  13. Hehe.. Go Phran!! UPS just got here with Biggest Looser. I will give that a go once I've had time to digest lunch, and will let you all know what its like. :frown:
  14. It was cute for the first little bit, but then I didn't want to see them anymore. :frown:

    My hair....

Sorry to hear that Molly :frown: In the booklet from my Nutritionist, it says; "If Protein intake is meeting the minimum recommended guidelines and hair loss continues to be bothersome, you can try supplements with ZINC (no more than 50 mg per day). Ongoing hair loss can also be a sign of iron-deficiency anemia. Please consult your surgeon."
  16. Maria - that was a VERY fake cough.. There seem to be a few console / packages that come with the Kinect, but it you are interested in getting it, may want to get it sooner rather then later with Christmas (wince) coming up fast. Tn girl - did you turn the pictures off for the games? After the first few funny ones, I didn't want to see myself anymore. :frown:/
  17. So far, playing with it has been lots of fun. The adventures game is pretty good and has you up and moving a lot. Biggest Looser is supposed to be arriving today, but am VERY excited for the Zumba one. I'm too self conscious to go to classes, but the game seems like a fun way to get into it. :frown: Elfie - Nope, no little boards to balance on. Its a camera that recognizes and tracks your movement, and seems to do it very well. I'm interested to see what the other games can do. With the Biggest Looser one, it recognizes you when you get in front of the camera and customizes your workout. I can wait to try it! Come on UPS!!
  18. If you are still sore and uncomfortable this morning, take it easy on food today as well. Might want to do 24 hours of liguids/mushies just to give yourself a chance to heal, as you can get some swelling. When I'm craving a drink after a meal, I generally chew some gum or suck on sugar-free candy.. last week accidentally swallowed a candy... and did THAT EVER HURT!! Ended up drinking some hot tea just to get it to dissolve and pass, but I could feel the sharp edges in the opening.. Finally went though, but was sore the next day. Did a day of liquids/mushies, and felt much better.. Was definitely swollen after that...
  19. I also was banded on August 31st and have a 14cc band. I only had 0.5 cc left in the band after surgery, so no restriction at first. !st fill was 3 mls 3 weeks later.. nothing.. 2nd fill 2mls another 3 weeks later. I had my 3rd fill last Wednesday (6 days ago), another 2 mls, and for the first 2 days, nothing, them BAM, almost restriction over the weekend, and ever since. So I'm at a total of 7.5 cc's and almost have restriction, and now feel that I DO have a band. 4th fill is scheduled for the 17th of Nov. I know a lot of people get frustrated at not getting restriction right away, but I looked at it, (or tried to) with the attitude, I didn't get this weight overnight, and its not going to come off overnight. I may have had larger portions, but I didn't get hungry again right away (so didn't snack), and did my best to make good decisions. I will say that chewing tons, and eating slowly makes it that much easier at this stage, and no stuck, sliming, PBing episodes so far.
