  1. Sorry I know nothing of New Start, I went to DePaul.
  2. Denise, I haven't forgotten about you. I sent Jennifer my last copy and I have to find my original. She said she was going to post the info for all. Some one did put their nutrition notes on the thread 2 days ago and it is almost the same as mine. You might want to go back and check it out.
  3. Violets are still there. Use your search and put in 'Shrinking Viloets' it should come up.
  4. It's not in your head. I did the same thing last week for 2 days! Today I'm having a hard time geting down 800 cal. Jennifur - I rarely get to 1200 cal. Usually I'm at about 900. So I bought some 100 cal pack cookie crisp I enjoy them with sf pudding if I'm too low. Makes me feel like I'm cheating. Terry (aka Gym Nazi) - You'd be proud of me today. Spent 2 hours at the gym. 1 hour 45min cardio and 20 min weights. Had a walk this am for 1 hour. Came home picked string beans out of the garden (about 4 lbs of them), trimed a bush and watered flowers the yard. I'm TIRED, but to worked up to go to bed just yet.

  6. Good morning all!!! Had a great weekend (for a change). They didn't have cake, but they did have cupcakes and I had 2. The frosting was great, well actually that's the only part I like and I still had 200 cal left for the day. Jennifer, give your new calorie intake a chance. Remember I upped mine and I have lost 2.5 lbs in the last five days but it took almost a week before it showed and before that I hadn't lost anything for over 2 weeks. So-ooo, hang in there girl and stop stressing. We ask a lot of our bodies. After years of over eating we want it to loose it in just a few months. Our bodies are going to rebel and say 'I think not!'
  7. Just checking in. Having a great weekend. Went to Jazz Attack Concert on Friday, busy all day Saturday. Just got back from lunch with friends. I could only eat 2oz prime rib, 1/2 small baked potato, slice of whole wheat bread. To the rest home and gave to DH to eat. I now I have restriction because I can usually eat a whole loaf of bread and everything else in sight. So I just sat and enjoyed the conversation. Most just thought I wasn't hungry. Saw another friend today that hasn't seen me since I was banded and her comment was "here's my friend that is wasting away." We laughed. she was against the band in the beginning and is now accepting of it now that she sees how happy I am and healthier. Now on my way to a baby shower. I have 600 calories to blow so I can have cake!!!:hungry: Have a great evening.
  8. Judy Better call the "Dog Whisperer" ASAP! Jennifer Did you get your package I'm down 2lbs this am:clap2::clap2:
  9. Beans, Beans, Beans... Recipe is on the back of package. Now my recipe! 1 lb beans (I prefer pinto) clean and rinse. Soak in very warm water for 1 hour and rinse again 4 strips of bacon cut into pieces (optional) or olive oil* 1 - 2 large onions 1 bell pepper garlic (fresh, granulated, or powder to taste. I like a lot) celery (if you have it) Salt pepper or Ms Dash 1 bay leaf Dice up all veggies and cook along with bacon untill soft, add beans and cover with water ( I, use beef or chicken stock) bring to boil. The turn down heat and simmer until beans are tender and liquid has cooked down. I serve over brown rice. You can use any type of smoked meat. If you do, simmer the meat for about 1/2 hour before you add the beans so the meat will be tender. Yo can add other things to your taste ie., mild or hot peppers, tomato, sause or diced tomatoes. Adding meat will bump up your protein. If you are going to re-fry them omit the meat and veggies if you want to. I prefer all the flavor.:hungry:
  10. I'm back from the gym. Only walked for 50 min. We are expecting a big storm sometime today. :rain: Last year to the day we had a storm and we were without electricity for 8 days. So I need to iron some things so I won't look wrinked when I go out. (I just hate that!) Went to Sears and found some workout shoes on sale and picked up a set of weights. The set weighs 20 lbs and carrying them to the car was a chore. Just think we have all lost more than that and that's what we were demanding of our hearts. No wonder I have more bounce to my walk. Try to carry around the amount of weight you have lost for an hour. Betcha can't. I'll check in this evening if I have lights! Oh yeah, I have walked 50 miles so far this month!!! Yeah me:clap2:
  11. I'm out. Going to the gym and to buy some weights.
  12. Where we all thin????
  13. I've been doing a little reading. In the book, Bob Green's Total Body Makeover on page 62 it says "...As you become more active and drink more water, you muscles will retain water. The primary culprit here is glycogen, a form of carbohydrate that's stored in your muscles and is the main fuel for exercise. The more active you are, the more glycogen your muscles will retain and thus the more water you'll hold on to: Each gram of glycogen stores an additional 2.5 grams of water. What's more, the fitter you become, the more glycogen you store. This initial water weight gain can be disheartening, but hang in there. Water-weight gain will cover up the body fat losses that you will be experiencing. After a few weeks, you will begin to see the fat loss. And the reality is, this is a part of charging up you metabloism, which will ultimately lead to an increase in your fat-burning power." So think about it, you are doing weight training and building more muscle. More muscle, more glycogen, thus more water weight. That'w why it is necessary to measure yourself. The very fact that you are wearing smaller sizes shows that you are losing. Another point he brings up is: "Did you know that your body allows for only about a loss of three pounds of fat per week? Sure, you can lose water and muscle tissue that's how quick-fix diets thaqt promise you'll drop a lot of pounds instantly work, but you don't want to. ...but in general losing one pound or even a half pound a week means that you aare losing in a way that can last." A added more grains to my diet and seem to be more regular now. My weight loss may be a little slower but I know I'm healthier and I'm down 2 sizes. In fact I measured my neck last night and have lost 1-1/2 inches in a month. Now that's what I'm talking about!!!:clap2:
  14. Today was my day to work. I work every Wednesday and every other week end. Friday I work 4-7 then off to a Jazz concert featuring Rick Bruan, Johnathan Butler (I call him my other man. Got a fill yesterday and am more hungry than ever. Go figure!?! I was running late this morning so I didn't have a chance to fix a snack. Ended up eating a bag of Sun Chips and this afternoon before I hit the gym a South Beach cereal bar. That sent my carbs way up and my calories just under 1200 for the day and I'm still hungry. Oh well.
  15. All this talk about food. I had my 3rd fill today and I am on liquids for the day. So all my meals are liquid. Jennifer; your request is in the mail. Denise; your's will be in the mail tomorrow. My nutritionist was included with my cost. Did/does your doctor have a nurse and nutritionist on staff that you can talk too. It's hard to believe that a doctor will do the surgery and then offer you no support. Check and see what services he provides.
  16. No problem, PM your address and I'll put it in the mail, OR you can wait until Jennifur post the one I'm sending her.
  17. Good morning Jennifer, ladies! Jennifer, if you pm me your address I'll US mail you a copy of my nutritionist's eating plan that is appropriate for lapband. And maybe since you are so computer orientated you can post it for all.
  18. Denise, perhaps you're not eating enough. The body needs nutrients and calories to function. Why don't you make a appontment with a nutritionist and have her make a proper eating plan for you. Not only will you start losing weight but you'll feel better.
  19. We'll pray for "nothing"!
  20. Jennifur, did you eat or drink anything red. sometime it looks like blood or you could be straining to much. If you are straining the tissue in that area is very thin and you could have a small tear. I was talking with a friend today who is very into nutrition and she asked about my eating whole grains. Told her no because of the carbs. She said that whole grains are necessary for natural fiber and is a must in any diet plan. Said to add the whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat bread and oat meal, etc.) and watch the weight drop and our BM problems clear up. Worth a try. I added 1 slice of whole wheat bread 1/2 cup brown rice to my meal and my total carbs are still below 90. My nutritionist allows me 145 carbs and 1200 cal a day and I average between 6-900 cals per day. So we shall see if that helps our situation. Have a great evening and remember.....
  21. Laura, Thanks for sharing your wonderful wedding day with us. May your joy increase each day together. Jennifer

Do you go to group at DePaul? Perhaps I've seen you there.
  23. I didn't have a pre-op diet but did one for 3 days. I made my own chicken broth and had as much of it as I wanted. Then I cut diced the chicken and separated it into 4 oz portions and put it in the freeze and made chicken salad out of it later on when I could eat solid food again. my recipe is as follows: 1 whole chicken leeks carrots onions parsley celery garlic Ms Dash salt Water I cooked mine in a pressure cooker for 20 min or you can simmer it untill chicken falls off the bone. Let it cool and skim off the fat, strained the veggies. I made enough of it so that post op I had it ready. Put it in 2 cup containers. Some of it I left the veggies in. It's so much better than store bought. Now I use it to season my veggies or when I just want something hot and light. I freeze everything. It's handy when you want it.
