  1. Ca you elaborate on the actual surgery on what happened how it compares to the lap band procedure etc. I will have to get gall bladder surgery soon and i am just two weeks out with Lap Band.

Take this experience as an opportunity to see how well you're able to cope without restriction.

Once you lose all of your weight you may be at an ideal point to have most of your fill removed and learn to live without a fill.

This is an opportunity - not a hinderance.

  2. Fellow Lap Banders,

I really need some advice. I got banded on May 10th and everything was going fine till Sat night. I have only lost 20 pounds or so since pre-op and I had a gall bladder attack that took me to the ER. The pain was unbearable. After Ultrasound and CT Scan they found stones in my Gall Bladder and the Doctor recommeded removal of the Gall Bladder.

So I just had surgery two weeks ago and now this surgery again? I am really freaking out about it. I never had any issues with my Gall Bladder before the Lap Band. I wanted to ask all of you, how long should one wait before having another surgery?

Also is it really necessary to get the Gall Bladder out? Is the Surgery as easy as the Lap Band one? Has anyone had a surgery so soon after Lap Band. I am really discouraged and disappointed. Need serious advise please. Thanks to all of you for your help.

  3. My surgery is tomorrow too. I have already lost 14 pounds in two weeks of the pre-op diet. I am really excited about this too. At the same time terrified. This is my first ever surgery.

Finally the day I have been waiting for since beginning this whole process in October is less than 24 hours away! I have a whole rush of emotions... nervous, anxious, excited, terrified.. I hope this is all normal. I will be in the hospital until Wednesday, possibly Thursday but I should be out by Wednesday. Good luck to everyone having surgery this week. We are all going to kick some butt!! I just keep reminding myself of how awesome it's going to be a year from now.

    Here we go! :)

  4. Hi Everyone,

I am getting banded on the same day, May 10th at the Jewesh Medical Hospital in Cinci. I am also very excited and nervous at the same time.

thanks...thats interesting. I have been hearing about shoulder pain and no one has once hinted at the fact that it is from the gas. well....I am on DAY 2 of my liquid diet and just 6 days until I get banded. Im am dreaming about cheeseburgers all day long. But I hope that will pass in another day or so....HOPEFULLY.

thanks for all the good feedback.

  5. Thanks everyone for the feedback. So it sounds like a combination of making sure the proteen intake is in line with what the doctor recommends as well as other suppliments from GNC.

    Thanks everyone. Really appreciate it.

Most everyone has this problem. Guys and Gals alike. Mine kicked in at about 6 months post op. I literally thought I was going to be bald. I started taking Biotin. 5000IU a day. I should have started it from the beginning. It doesn't help hair loss but helps the hair you have grow so it doens't look so sparse. My hair is back to normal now almost a year post op.

  6. I am getting banded the same day you are man. Good luck to you. I am oon my 4th day of pre-op diet and doing well.

Just wondering if I am about the only guy getting banded? Or perhaps one of the only ones online and talking about it?

So glad to be meeting all the awesome ladies on here who are going through what I am, but wondering if I am the only 30ish guy getting this done?

There seems to be more of a stigma (where I live at least) for guys getting Bariatric Surgery.. what about where you live?

    17 days and counting!

  7. Hi Everyone,

This site is great for all the information and support so wanted to thank everyone. I had my innitial consultation with Dr. Curry in Cinci lsat week and am seriously considering the surgery. I am a pure vegetarian and I am wondering if this surgery will help me lose the weight I want too. So let me be clear. I don't eat red meat, poultry, eggs or seafood. So most of my diet consists of Wheat, Rice, Lentils and Vegetables.

So was wondering if there are any vegetarians out there who has done this surgery and have had success with it. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I would like to have my surgery done in Nov.

Also any feedback on Dr. Curry would be greatly appreciated.
