  1. I don't have one either, but it was suggested that I get one to help support my painful port area. I didn't think it was worth getting one because I thought the pain would pass pretty quickly, but now it seems that isn't going to happen so I might go pick one up tomorrow. Did you get yours at a drugstore?

i got mine from Wallgreens i'm sure any other pharmacy would carry the same thing.

    it's about $25-$30

  2. so i have all of this paperwork to fill out before the seminar on Jan 22nd. ive got the base of it finished, the last two pages are 30 questions for my insurance company representative.

the first question is do i have benefits for weight loss surgery for morbid obesity if medically necessary? then, i choose yes or no. if yes, i am suppose to complete all 30 questions...if no, i need to ask the rep to read the exclusion to me, then it says if i have an exclusion in my policy, would i self pay for surgery, and i cant. and if i say no, i dont even go to the seminar, it just ends there.

ive emailed a rep and all it said, point blank, is your plan does not cover obesity related surgeries. so is that it? its just over? I dont understand. i thought going to the seminar would help me through all of this. and i thought if it isnt included in my plan i can "challenge" it? am i wrong?

Legally if you have any mobliities your insurance SHOULD cover it.

i know that Lap Band could fight for it. you have to just push them ans keep on calling them. DON'T GIVE UP! it took me 7 months to get my insurance approval and hopefully i'll have my surgery this month but as i said you have to push them and keep on asking questions. it's a difficult process but i'm sure it's worth it.

  3. Hi there, just wondering if there are many people out there with a low bmi (below 40) and no co morbidities that got an approval?? Just needing some positive information here

so my BMI was only 35 but i've been struggling ever since i was a kid! so my primary doctor wrote a real good letter to my insurance company stating all the diets and all the fitness, gym and alllll other things that i have tried so far. i actually got 2 letters from my primary doctors and send those in ... it TRUELOVE help and i was just approved!

in a way put yourself in the Insurance shoes and try to convince yourself why they should pay for your surgery. you have provide evidence and make them to realize that you NEED to have the surgery it's not a WANT.

my whole packet was about 50 pages of all kinds of receipts, gym memberships , Lindora, Weight Watchers and whole other diets that i've tried so far.

    good luck! : )

  4. Dr. Madan did my Lap Band surgery on 4/29. I really like this Doctor and the staff. Everyone treated me well. I love that they had a sense of humor that put me at ease. I felt very comfortable going into surgery. This was a big surprise since I was a nervous wreck from the day I was approved! It has been 6 wks. and I go for my first fill wed. I am nervous about that. I do have a short blogg that gives a little more details. Good luck and please keep in touch, I would love to hear about your journey. Feel free to PM me with any ??

  7. Hi there,

I have Anthem Blue Cross CA. I was wondering what 'steps' you have to take before your initial consult with the surgeon. I am attending the seminar Wednesday. Thanks for any help!

    i Sophinator,

i've just gotten my approval letter and now am waiting for my surgery day!!! here's exactly what happened in my case...

right after the seminar they'll sit down with you and go over all your complications, weight, height and EVERYTHING.... let them know what your concerns are and then they'll go from there on with submitting it to your insurance and so on.

Mostly they'll take care of everything and provide clear direction. IF on any case they don't you have a specific Person who handels your case.

    GOOD LUCK! :rolleyes2:
